I followed your guide completely until the end, after I transferred all my games to my new SD card I switched back to gaming mode then took my new SD card out and re inserted it and every single game and rom was already downloaded, saved me a lot of time
A Year later for my comment, thanks man you vid helped me a lot, after you first few mins I did think Desktop Mod is the key. I've gone from a 512GB - 1TB, Just to let everyone know. file transfers can take a long time, I have 1st Gen Steam Deck, with Steam Dock, One thing on my mind is how do I then format my old 512Gb on my PC as it doesn't see it!
@@wembley636 Thanks for watching and your questions. Should be able to format it via disk management. Lots of videos on RUclips for Formatting a drive /windows/ PC . Thanks .
@@DjMartiniMidwest Thanks Dj, I've still copying my data from my old card to the new! taking time but is working, thanks for your reply, I was thinking about this today and thought the card should show in Disk Management.
Hello, have u figured out a way to xfer w10 iso from the micro sd card to the ssd? Im planing about buying the 1tb ssd but i have all my tools on the micro sd
Unfortunately I have not found a good video on how to dual boot the steam deck from the internal SSD storage or have been brave enough to try. I do have an external SSD drive with iso of windows 11 .. i use . Maybe cloning or migrating the drive via a partition . Some for w10 and rest for storage via a partition. Let me know if you figure it out.. thanks. Sorry I cant be more helpful .
Does your game data save? Like after you download it, will I just be able to click continue from where I left off in my game without starting a new game? Ik it may seem like a dumb question but my buddy ran into a situation where he ended up losing his game data too for several titles
My other question is, could I just drag the library folder, steam apps, and lost-found files to the other sd card and be done instead of putting each in its respective folder? Or do I only need to drag a few of them?
@@DjMartiniMidwest I see but is it essential to drag all 3? It won’t let me drag the library one and the lost and found has nothing in it. I only dragged steam apps and I just wanna make sure I didn’t miss out on anything by doing that
What if I wanted to transfer the content on my steamdeck to the 1tb sd card? I just bought the sd card and want all my games (emulators/steam games) to run through the sd card instead. Can I just transfer everything and have my emulators know where they are? Or would I have to manually config where the game folders are.
Hello , I don’t have emulators on my steam deck but to my knowledge . I am sure you can run emulators and roms off the Sd card . I just not sure the process. Might have to search another video . Sorry I can’t help more .
I finally figured this out - go to settings > storage (in big picture mode is fine). Then you’ll select the game, press a button (I think it’s Y for move), then it’ll move. Similar process to how the Xbox Series consoles move games.
What if my new card is called something else? My first card was called SD512 and my new one is called now DeckSD for convenience of transfer in future if needed. Will the file paths be messed up how to deal with that?
Hello , thanks for watching and your question. My take … (hopefully someone else chimes in too cause I’m No deck pro but ) If you’re only coping / transferring the old card to a new or bigger card . And then just using one card at a time , you should be ok. Did you have issues with your data transfer ? Thank you.
@@chanceking6188 Unfortunately No, Steam deck is running a Linux base system. I am very sure unless you have the same Linux based operating system on your laptop…It will not transfer correctly. Thanks.
There are few videos out on what the lost & found folder is and its existence . I never had issues because I believe it’s part of directory so it should be include with other files . But I’m not super familiar with the Linux systems . Sorry, I can’t be more helpful. Thanks .
You don't need to copy that folder because that folder is used for finding the corrupt/missing file when checking the filesystem. (Also that folder was own by "root", so you will get permission denied message) Just like a hidden FOUND.000 folder in windows. P.S. "root" in Linux terms is like "Administrator" in Windows terms.
This tutorial is awful. You spent the first 10ish minutes talking about stuff idc about. Plus there is all these jump cut bad edits. May be good info but but really poor execution.

Will I have to reinstall Emudeck after the transfer? I use my microSD for Emudeck and all my roms (SSD I use for Steam games).
