    For me I value durability and longevity in my tools than sheer brute power. I don't think you can beat Bosch for their grinders and rotary hammers, they just keep going.

    There is X-lock version, it's called GWX. GWS are with standard M14 spindle.
    15SC has the display interface, 15C is without it.

    Dear Sirs,
    This grinder is available in a variety of models ( 7 in Europe) including variable speed ( from 3400 to 11000 rpm)with digital display as per your older model in either 125 or 150mm diameter disc & with or without "X" lock. Kind regards.

      Yep, we always get screwed over in Australia with regards to the range of things available. It really, really annoys me. It's not just Bosch that does this.

      @@bluewren65 Dear Sir/Madam,
      Thank you very much for your comment. Don't feel too bad about it; we too in Europe do not always get the first new models either. Case in point the Bosch Axial Glide Mitre saw which premiered in North America & Canada some 18 months before the UK. Not being one for waiting, I simply ordered mine from the U.S albeit in 120 volts ( as it so happens we are the only oddballs in Europe that make use of 120 volts tools so getting hold of a transformer was a trip to the shop only). Quite by accident I got a job working for an online power tool company shortly thereafter & the boss who had an account ( so that means at trade price with whatever discount structure) with Robert Bosch UK paid even more money than I did including shipping. Likewise with their latest Biturbo circular saw which was only available in Scandinavia, Netherlands but not Germany ( go figure!!!) & Bosch U.K could not tell me when they'll be getting their quota ( so I bought mine from Austria). This circular saw was shown at a woodworking exhibition in London & it took me the best part of a year ( or close to ) just to get mine. Manufacturers always seem to be doing some strange things from time to time & as you rightly point out, it's not only from one manufacturer either. Kind regards.

      @@toolsconsumables7055 That is so interesting. You have to wonder about the minds of the marketing people. You would think that they would release their entire range internationally, except maybe for niche tools (I don't know what they would be) that perhaps were used for a very specific purpose in one particular place. I always assumed that we got such a limited selection because of distance and relatively smaller population. Australians in general tend to be early adopters of new technology and it's not just tradies who buy high end tools. Aussies are big time DIY builders and woodworkers and tend to buy the very best gear they can afford. We also like longevity in our tools and value for money, which doesn't equate to the cheapest. Of course, price wise, compared to the US we get screwed, but not so different from prices in the UK. I don't see the logic in not offering every product you produce. It's not always possible to buy tools etc overseas as many manufacturers have exclusive deals with local importers and the freight for larger tools and machines would not make it viable.

    I bought the gwx sc with x lock and sent it back as the range of accessories isn't that great, I needed a mortar rake and couldn't find one. So I bought the gws c paired with a 12ah battery instead, plus I don't think I'll use the Bluetooth connectivity. I love the grinder, it beats the pants out of all my colleagues tools. I'm just gutted it hasn't got the near instant x brake that you get with the gwx. I think the x lock allows the tool to be able to stop the disc quicker.

    Run the previous Bosch grinder works OK no problems so far. Not so sure about the new Bosch stuff with the talk to chip and app function. I have a couple even got the chips as an experiment. Not for me don't really see the point for general work. If you did something every day that required fine settings maybe. General building no. This also creates the next problem more electronics to go wrong. One of my two tools mentioned less than a year old none of the electronic controls work. Whatever you do stuck in one mode only. My old Bosch tools 30 years ago lasted well. New ones with electronics don't. I have several breeds all short lived all electronic problems. I would rather no gadgets and a tough usable tool.

      More electronics certainly can add some fragility.

    hi oztooltalks. how does it stack up against something like a makita xgt or a quick 18v such as a metabo? wondering if its worth extending out to bosch, currently have a lxt makita grinder, great grinder but bosch having bigger batterys and claiming it to be 1500w makes it tempting

    • @OZToolTalk
      @OZToolTalk  6 месяцев назад

      It's almost as strong as the XGT grinder, but not quite. I imagine its comparable with Metabo's strongest 18V grinder.

    Recently broke the guard on my over 10 year old corded grinder. It's about 15 bucks for a replacement.
    Been trying really hard to convince myself not to just get a cordless one.
    There's this Makita cordless xlock grinder i have been drooling about.
    Maybe you guys will get the chance to review it.
