You should look up the history of the host he really has plenty of history on how his life's journey took a major turn in what he wanted to be and what happened to him. Not really Lucky. The plan for his life changes..... you will see if you want to learn. Merry Christmas

Gahddamn he has a beautiful voice and is just supremely talented not to mention the skill he has crafted to perfection over the long years in his caster(edit:career. Lol 🤦‍♂️ smh). I sincerely enjoyed this and everything I’ve heard from the man and his band in general. It’s such a wonderfully refreshing experience to get to enjoy real music with soul that you actually feel, I’ve not gotten goosebumps from musical art in ages but good lord this got me. When his piano solo began after the guitar solo towards the end it actually brought a smile to my face. Just to know people such as Jon and his band are still making music that so perfectly captures the greatness and emotional intricacies of the human spirit is truly a wonderful feeling. Thank you Jon and stay human for, well, staying the best version of what a human should be. Truly a privilege to be able to enjoy the honor of such wonderful music.

Natasha Benitez Are you referring to Jon? If so, he’s a multifaceted musician that’s been making music with all kinds of artists since the early 2000’s. Everyone from prince to even willie Nelson. He’s one of the few musicians that makes jazz style music which I actually enjoy, I think he’s the head or director or something of the national jazz museum come to think of it. He’s predominantly been a behind the scenes type of guy but is just a supremely talented musician who actually enjoys the process of making music one could accurately refer to as art. It makes a big difference in my personal opinion as, at least I, can really feel the emotions he puts into the music he loves. He’s always been the type of artist that puts his soul into what he creates and by extension makes you feel his music in your soul. I’m kind of a music nerd I guess lol but yes I couldn’t agree more, there aren’t any dumb questions so feel free to ask whatever you’d like, I won’t judge, as I know better than that. You have MS? I’m sorry to hear that, but I’m happy to see you still doing things like this, enjoying life n all. Let me know if you have any questions or just feel like chatting, thanks for your civility! Oh, and thanks for teaching the young ones properly lol, it’s good to know people still raise children with a hunger for knowledge.

At the start, I imagined field workers in the early 1800s in the South mimicking the sound emanating from the House in which their master’s family and friends were gathered and singing, bringing in the New Year.
Then the scene switched to a later time in which the descendants of field hands were themselves celebrating in a club somewhere in the South in the 1920s.
We’ve come a long way and have yet a ways to go. Let’s not go back. Bring on the New Year.

I don't much care for an up tempo Auld Lang Syne, I feel like it should be sung as a lament. However... Jon Batiste is fire.

Pernicion Aye, same here. This version doesn’t tug the heartstrings or get the waterworks going.

Irene Max I mean, I cry at a lot of things. but auld Lang syne gets the waterworks going?

I find this in keeping with Jon's New Orleans roots. There in New Orleans after someone dies, they have a funeral procession where there's joy, dancing, singing and music. Check out more - Look up "second line New Orleans"

@@jayl2298 Read the lyrics? It's a call to remember past friends, remembering times enjoyed and survived. The poem is the embodiment of nostalgia.

Not to be contrary, but it is a Robert Burns poem that was set to music later, so some creative latitude may be in order. I’m accustomed to the lament and tears when I hear it, but must admit he rocked this version. Wish someone would sing it with the original words and more verses though...that would be something!
