I always enjoy your channel, although I am 75 years old. Thank you 😘. It’s nice to see how you explore the diversity of the gay community. On that theme, although I realize that it’s hard to imagine yourselves being in your 60´s and 70’s it will happen, and it would be nice for you to explore the lives of older gay men. Just a suggestion ✌️😊
Meng bro’s sign-off gave us some serious Asian street lad corn vibes. And while we love seeing Andrew show off his strong arms, we’re ready to see some glute progress too! I love how Don kept looking around during the interview, like he came for business and doesn’t want to miss an opportunity!
Don!!! Lovely nd good to see him again ❤️ considerate, thoughtful nd talkactive as usual 😅 thank u Tokyo bttms for such a pleasurable video keep up 😘❤️
Bear in Asia is definitely less hairy than the West but still have to be "plus size" bodies !! Do Japanese into Bear/Panda? Yes they do! Because the stereo type iconic of bear in Japan is the SUMO men. Hope it has helped your question.. 😄😄
I love that you guys are about embracing the gay community at large. In my experience there is a large majority of guys who are soley interested in giving their attention to guys they think are attractive. (Especially thinking about NY's gay sene). But there are so many different perspectives, styles, and stories out there. Even if it might not be your thing in particular I think there is so much value in socializing with guys who are not necessarily your "type".
In my experience, bear community is definitely NOT welcoming and more friendly than other communities. If you don't fit the mold you'd be totally ignored. Experienced that in several places of the world. I think, however, the same applies to all those other gay tribes/sub-groups... I see Andrew turning into hot muscle daddy.
The bears are just as bad as the other sub communities. They use to be open but now the nasty gays that used to marginalize others have gotten chubby and aged out and are now in the bear community.
Pretty much the same across each "tribe" but as a bigger guy id have a better time at a bear event than just going to a generic gay event/party. At the most I know their would be people im interested in and others who are into me. You're going to find the cliques and attitudes everywhere. But lets be honest our community is very vanity focused so if you look good you'll always have a good time ya know.
always nice to see more bear content. good callback with the asparabacon. the sentiment on tiktok is that big muscle guys that call themselves bear kinda diminish the point since bear in the west is mainly seen as overweight with belly and hair. as a slim guy, as long as they're "bigger" we're good to go. i totally get the idea of being nervous in these bear dominated spaces. but it looks like it's just something i have to experience for myself. thanks for the video!
I had to do a double take on the first guy/person in the robe taken out of Blanche Devereaux's wardrobe. In my own personal limited danish life experience, a bear's attire is more flannel shirts, denim, and hiker boots. But then again, that was the 90's, and I **do** know objectively that it's a good thing that all sorts of people can easily find their tribe and can express themselves more freely now. It just still takes me by surprise sometimes in clips like this. The cubs will be alright.
See I'd say the second fella is a chub, but bear seems to be used as a more catch all in Japan from the impression I get the few times you guys have discussed it. In the west, or UK at least, I'd say bear only really refers to big burly guys, usually hairy too.
I was wondering if you'd be interested in visiting my friend's american-style cookie store in Koenji? It's called Monsta Sweets & it's owned & operated by my friend Greg (who also coincidentally is a bear)
In Asia, the concept of the "bear" community aligns more closely with that of a "gogoboy" - someone who is big and meaty, but not overweight; being muscular is optional. However, the definition of a "bear" can vary from person to person. For instance, although someone has said that the second interviewee isn't a "bear," I personally feel he fits the category. There’s also an interesting trend: those with more athletic builds tend to define "bear" more narrowly, whereas those with less fit bodies tend to favor a broader definition. In reality, the term "bear" is rarely used within Japan's LGBTQ+ community. Japanese gay slang tends to be more unique compared to other Asian countries. For example, they often use "がちむち" (gachimuchi) to represent the bear community, "タチ" (tachi) for top, "ねこ" (neko) for bottom, "リバ" (riba) for versatile, and "バニラ" (vanilla) for side.
Is this a yearly event? I need to plan my trip around this ;D Also is it the light cause Andrew looks extra white. You should have done the Tiktok with sound from family guy - “You’re Haunting This House With Your Whiteness”
Nice Video!!🎉 It’s super interesting to see how terms are classified differently in different cultures even if they’re the same. You Got This Bear Chasers!! I have a 6’4” bear and I’m a 5’3” slim transguy, it is possible to get a bear 👊
Loved this video 🥰 Always fun to learn more about this country and its differences :) And I loved the questions and answers, especially from Don. For me it wasn't deep, it was just really interesting. It's a breath of fresh air that you are not asking just superficial and commons questions. It's also what your channel and you are really good at: mixing fun, light topics with deeper ones 🩵 Thank you guys.
Photoshop hair on your chest, front area and face...go out and do public interview....7/10 times people are gonna call you bear in training. Point I'm making is to be called bear there needs to be hair. And I think facial is part of that. So do 1 photo of how you look, 1 photoshoped with hair like I said...and 1 photoshoped where you are super hairy. And ask people if you are a bear underneath your clothes based on photo. As if you need more thirst trap tips...as if this channel isn't enough.......................... :D :P But response will be "bear in training...little more oomph on you and you'll be daddy bear"...RAWR :D :D :D
Normally I am so much into bears. But none of these guys would do it for me. Why: All these guys you show can be included in the bear umbrella but they do not represent the essence of bearness. First of all they are just tooooo gay. No, I am not bashing gayness. Nothing wrong with that. But it is just not the essence of being bear. Another person shown in this video is also more on the diva side than being a bear. There you go.
Only ask, why does LGBT life in Asia still seem discriminatory and disrespectful towards people? For example, with introverts, ugly people, effeminate men, quiet people, and even with crossdressers (men wearing women's clothes and vice versa). You can still see in friendship only macho, handsome and muscular (gay) men. Drag Queens even have difficulty finding partners?? Just tell me why??
I live in Asia & travel across Asia extensively- where do you see discrimination/disrespect towards ppl within LGBT that doesn’t exist in other parts of the world? The types of people you mentioned are somewhat going to be at a disadvantage in most places, particularly where majority of gays in Asia are bottoms or vers bottom seeking a similar type of partner. However, many still make friends based on common interests/hobbies. I see this in Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, etc & they’re also open to the expat community
14:15 Interesting. I have the opposite perception for online. Like the term bear is used for big and chubby guys with no muscle and the "strong as a bear" part is mostly not there. I used to be into bears but a lot of them could benefit from mentioned "self care".
It’s cool how you guys manage to explore many different sides of Japanese gay life.
we are so grateful for all the opportunities
4:42 Meng tuning out of sports chatter is so me.
But also, Rugby Player? Jackpot.
