- A snapshot of the roadworks in January 2024.
I grew up in Brisbane, went overseas in 1998 and returned (to Sydney) in 2004. The Tugun Bypass opened in 2008, which was great ... until you hit the roadworks.
But it seems that there have been continuous roadworks around the Gold Coast ... just trying to remember heading up to Brisbane to visit my parents and never grinding to a halt just over the NSW - Queensland border.
I remember living through the M1 upgrades living near Helensvale. It took a long time but it was well worth it.
So glad I saw this!!!! I've been meaning to go back and visit SEQ since I was last there in 2021, and I've been curious to see how the construction on the Pacific Motorway have been progressing since then.

No worries ... I wish I had a 4K GoPro back in the 90s to capture the drive down from Logan/Brisbane to the GC ... an incredible difference to today. Just trying to capture something to compare with in a few decades when the roadworks are a dim memory. /Brett

I don’t think I’ve ever drivin on the same piece of M1 / pacific Hwy bitumen ever
Also interesting to see where the exits are NOW haven’t been up to our holiday units at Broad Beach since we were locked out QLD
