  • Taisabaki (体捌き) is the body move to evade attacks at the beginning of aikido techniques. The attack is not blocked, but avoided by a step forward to the side of the attacker. It is immediately followed by a pinning or throwing technique.
    This video contains basic taisabaki exercises as well as applications in several aikido techniques.
    For clarity, I mostly do the techniques rather slowly on the video. In some cases I go faster, but of course that can be done with every technique.
    This was recorded in 2018 and the beginning of 2019, but not edited until 2023. Stephan Schröder ( / @stephanschroder7611 ) was uke (the attacker).
