      @kinor Spielman Well then Kinor, then for you watching football is good. Is that real football, I think Americans call it soccer, or the kind that's like a version of rugby? Real football can be a joy to watch, especially when played by Brazil. The Beautiful Game

      @kinor Spielman It's a matter of personal preference Kinor. A lot of people like rap "music", I can't stand it, mostly but I can leave rap artists and their fans to it. I do like the way Rachel Podger plays and the sound of her violin. I know nothing about the technical or theoretical side of music, I just go with what I like. Some musicians do it for me, some don't. For instance Simon Preston is a well known organist but I simply don't like the way he plays. However lots of people obviously do

    I didn't knew Rachel Podger... I have to say this is the best interpretation i have heard in my life, of the Partita 2. The Gigue and Chaconne are very significant to me. The Chaconne is a deeply emotional piece that connected with me. (I connected to it, rather) I lost several people in the last months, they didn't die, but the Chaconne reminds me of the pain of losing them.

    I can't believe this recording doesn't have more likes. Listening to the chaconne is life changing. Absolutely celestial. And not too much ornamentation. Love it

      Well, the Chaconne has been admired for over 300 years, and will remain this way even after RUclips has melted into the dust.

      Zhiyuan Liu yes, string, but still, it’s her technique and attitude. I recently recorded a record with gut strings and got pretty close to the sound of the fiddle. But still very far from her playing.... sigh.

    The partita number two is one of those cusps of music history and abstract beauty, comparable to the suites for solo cello. The chaconne of the partita 2, as the sarabande of the 5th cello suite, are mysterious monument to musical genius and summits of human creativity and musical essence. This partita, a work of devilish difficulty and transcendent beauty, is almost incomprehensible in its dry emotion and hidden mystery. This music is addictive. This rendering by Rachel Podger achieves the miracle of beauty , emotion and technical perfection. It adds to the short list of Menuhin, Szeryng, Hilary Hahn, and other gifted violin players who will remain in the history of music. Thanks for uploading.

      @kinor Spielman The first amendment allows you to express your opinion. However, in a classical music forum such as this, there is a tacit agreement of finesse and respect. A statement such as "Podger, whose tinny soporific Baroque sound is to my ears awful" should not be allowed in gentlemanly company..

    • @s.l5787
      @s.l5787 5 лет назад +15

      Not too much reverb. In fact, this is probably far less reverb than what Bach had in mind. If you want to hear every painful high frequency detail of the violin, that's on you.

    • @denisleger1829
      @denisleger1829 2 года назад

      @@s.l5787 Yes and... No. For instance, the Thomaskirche in Leipzig is not very big and has a reasonable natural reverb. Also, at the time, you had tapestries on walls and other stuffs to insulate the church a bit which means the reverb was significantly more limited compared to now. But, Yes, those pieces are def. made for locations with a natural reverb.
      Personally, I don't think there is too much reverb in this recording.
