  • The Fedelissima is the regular march of the Carabinieri. It was written in 1929 by maestro Luigi Cirenei who was the first conductor of the Carabinieri military band. The execution generally takes place on the occasion of the Arma dei Carabinieri feast, of the concert in honor of the patron saint (Virgo Fidelis, on November 21), of the military parade of June 2 (Republic Day), and of the oaths. Like all the ordinance marches (and the national anthem), La Fedelissima is often the concluding piece of the concerts of the military band.
The march has the typical form I-AA-BB-I-A-CC (with possible reprise A-B-A), however its peculiar characteristic is the disparity of the bars of the trio which in the repetition counts 31 bars instead of the usual 32.
Before its adoption, the Arma was represented by another ordinance march written by maestro Luigi Cajoli, who was director of the dissolved Band of the Carabinieri Students Legion.
