How to Install the fSpy Importer Add-on for Blender

- In this Blender tutorial, I'll show you how to install the fSpy importer add-on, which allows you to import your fSpy project files into Blender. This is a great way to get accurate camera settings and background images for your 3D scenes.
What you'll need:
* Blender
* The fSpy importer add-on
* A fSpy project file
Steps:
1. Download the fSpy importer add-on from GitHub.
2. Open Blender and go to Edit - Preferences.
3. Click the Add-ons tab and click the Install button.
4. Browse to the fSpy importer add-on zip file and click Open.
5. The fSpy importer add-on will be installed.
6. Enable the fSpy importer add-on by clicking the checkbox next to it.
7. Import your fSpy project file by going to File - Import - fSpy.
That's it! You've now installed the fSpy importer add-on for Blender.

In this Blender tutorial I'm going to show you how to install the fSpy importer add-on for Blender. fSpy is a great image photo matching perspective software that can match photos in a 2d plane and then use that to make a camera in 3D. The problem is that fSpy makes all these numbers that you have to put for your camera position which you can copy manually but that's a lot of work. So the creators of fSpy have made an add-on for Blender that we can use. And so if you go to the fSpy Blender add-on site on GitHub we can click on the releases right here and we want to get this ZIP file. And we can download it and save it on our desktop. The next thing to do is to jump into Blender. In Blender we can install different plugins and add-ons by going to edit - preferences. In the preferences we can click install. After we've clicked on install we can click the zip file that we want to do and we can click install add-on. Now we can find it, it automatically searches for this and then we can click enable. If you can't remember if you've installed fSpy or any other add-on, you can go in the search bar and type fSpy and you'll see it right here and you'll see that it is enabled. So now you're ready to use the fSpy Blender add-on.

Why can I not get my mapped 3D scene to match the measured dimensions I took in real life? The Perspective is always off. I have used fspy correctly, I lined all the axes as best I could. I triple checked my camera's focal length (and adjusted the Blender camera focal length to match). I've tried this like 5 times now, and it's always the same. I'm trying to model the side of my house to make a mockup Fence and Gate that I intend to build. No matter what I do, one axis dimension length is always off. I'm using the walls of the house as reference dimensions. It's driving me crazy, as I've followed several tutorials now, and nobody seems to use reference dimensions at all?? What gives??
Here’s what worked for me. Im on a Mac (intel + Monterrey). I went to Applications > Blender (right click) > Show package contents > Contents > Resources > There’s a folder with the program version, in my case I downloaded an older version based on previous comments > Scripts > Add ons and finally dropped the folder there. Once I restarted Blender it appeared.

Hi, tried installing it on blender 3.6.4 and also 4.0 beta, could not get it to work, it does not appear in the installed addons section.
Try an earlier version of Blender

hello, I installed the fSpy-1.0.3.dmg on my mac and it works. However, I can't see the option to import the file in to Blender. I tried installing as a plugin on the preference panel > add-ons. However, I can't find a zip file that works.

Maybe try a fresh install of blender? Some versions are not compatible

i had the same issue , so i tried different version of blender so far blender 3.0.1 is the only one i found fspy add on still working
I just installed blender as well as fspy and I can "install" the fspy add on but when I search in the list of add-ons to enable it, it is not there. Is this a compatibility issue with new versions perhaps?

Amazing video. So the problem is addons even after downloading don’t show. Like you literarily covert the downloaded addon to zip, open your blender, install the addon but boom it’s no where to be found after searching. There are tons of windows tutorials on this on how to fix and non for Mac.

No longer works, I guess the maker of the addon gave up on it and blender 4.1 doesn't support it. I wonder if there are any alternatives to fspy formerly known as blam?

Depending on the version of blender, sometimes plugin needs to be updated by the developer. You can try using a previous version of blender listed under the compatible list on the GitHub page

Hello, i have a problem with fspy : i need to open an image with fspy but when i open it it always rotate top to bottom. How can i fix it ?
Not sure, perhaps try selecting a different axis orientation?
When I go to install, I'm not able to view the zip file in the download folder, even though I can see it there in my file manager
Hmm, that is strange, try moving the zip file to another folder and see if it shows up in blender

Make sure you have the right version of f-spy. If you go to the GitHub pages they have previous releases then you can download that should work with earlier versions of blender
