ELVIS is an epic, big-screen spectacle from Warner Bros. Pictures and visionary, Oscar-nominated filmmaker Baz Luhrmann that explores the life and music of Elvis Presley, starring Austin Butler and Oscar winner Tom Hanks.
A thoroughly cinematic drama, Elvis’s (Butler) story is seen through the prism of his complicated relationship with his enigmatic manager, Colonel Tom Parker (Hanks). As told by Parker, the film delves into the complex dynamic between the two spanning over 20 years, from Presley’s rise to fame to his unprecedented stardom, against the backdrop of the evolving cultural landscape and loss of innocence in America. Central to that journey is one of the significant and influential people in Elvis’s life, Priscilla Presley (Olivia DeJonge).
Starring alongside Butler and Hanks, award-winning theatre actress Helen Thomson (“Top of the Lake: China Girl,” “Rake”) plays Elvis’s mother, Gladys, Richard Roxburgh (“Moulin Rouge!” “Breath,” “Hacksaw Ridge”) portrays Elvis’s father, Vernon, and DeJonge (“The Visit,” “Stray Dolls”) plays Priscilla. Luke Bracey (“Hacksaw Ridge,” “Point Break”) plays Jerry Schilling, Natasha Bassett (“Hail, Caesar!”) plays Dixie Locke, David Wenham (“The Lord of the Rings” Trilogy, “Lion,” “300”) plays Hank Snow, Kelvin Harrison Jr. (“The Trial of the Chicago 7,” “The High Note”) plays B.B. King, Xavier Samuel (“Adore,” “Love & Friendship,” “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse”) plays Scotty Moore, and Kodi Smit-McPhee (“The Power of the Dog”) plays Jimmie Rodgers Snow.
Also in the cast, Dacre Montgomery (“Stranger Things,” “The Broken Heart Gallery”) plays TV director Steve Binder, alongside Australian actors Leon Ford (“Gallipoli,” “The Pacific”) as Tom Diskin, Kate Mulvany (“The Great Gatsby,” “Hunters”) as Marion Keisker, Gareth Davies (“Peter Rabbit,” “Hunters”) as Bones Howe, Charles Grounds (“Crazy Rich Asians,” “Camp”) as Billy Smith, Josh McConville (“Fantasy Island”) as Sam Phillips, and Adam Dunn (“Home and Away”) as Bill Black.
To play additional iconic musical artists in the film, Luhrmann cast singer/songwriter Yola as Sister Rosetta Tharpe, model Alton Mason as Little Richard, Austin, Texas native Gary Clark Jr. as Arthur Crudup, and artist Shonka Dukureh as Willie Mae “Big Mama” Thornton.
Oscar nominee Luhrmann (“The Great Gatsby,” “Moulin Rouge!”) directed from a screenplay by Baz Luhrmann & Sam Bromell and Baz Luhrmann & Craig Pearce and Jeremy Doner, story by Baz Luhrmann and Jeremy Doner. The film’s producers are Luhrmann, Oscar winner Catherine Martin (“The Great Gatsby,” “Moulin Rouge!”), Gail Berman, Patrick McCormick and Schuyler Weiss. Toby Emmerich, Courtenay Valenti and Kevin McCormick executive produced.
The director’s behind-the-scenes creative team includes director of photography Mandy Walker (“Mulan,” “Australia”), Oscar-winning production designer and costume designer Catherine Martin (“The Great Gatsby,” “Moulin Rouge!”), production designer Karen Murphy (“A Star Is Born”), editors Matt Villa (“The Great Gatsby,” “Australia”) and Jonathan Redmond (“The Great Gatsby”), Oscar-nominated visual effects supervisor Thomas Wood (“Mad Max: Fury Road”), music supervisor Anton Monsted (“Australia,” “Moulin Rouge!”) and composer Elliott Wheeler (“The Get Down”).
Principal photography on “Elvis” took place in Queensland, Australia with the support of the Queensland Government, Screen Queensland and the Australian Government’s Producer Offset program.
A Warner Bros. Pictures Presentation, A Bazmark Production, A Jackal Group Production, A Baz Luhrmann Film, “Elvis” will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures. Buy or rent the home premiere now.
It's about time. Elvis deserves a quality made film about him. This looks like it's just that.💙☮
Overhyped
@@lukemcg5568 not according to his daughter and let's not judge until it comes out
Going to be a bittersweet ride!
I agree
@@kairiisawesome3341 Yup, his daughter (who stands to millions from this) is going to be unbiased isn't she?
The people who are complaining that Austin doesn't look like Elvis, well no one can or will. But if you see the movie, you will, after about 15 minutes or so in, forget all about the look of Elvis & FEEL that you are definitely witnessing Elvis, his feelings & his life story. Austin was amazing, so convincing as Elvis & the movie was a visual feast! It's a roller coaster of a thrilling ride!
Austin definitely embodies Elvis & deserves the OSCAR for his portrayal; his capability of making me, you FEEL that he IS ELVIS. The movie also deserves accolades & the Oscar as well! :) 🤞🤞🏾
There is only 1 elvis
You can not copy an original, You can only replace it.
I agree. No one could ever look like Elvis, but this young actor created Elvis as if he is still alive. I enjoyed the movie. Parker was a real first class taker and user.
I am so glad I grew up with the sounds of real rock and roll. Those were magical times back then. I find it sad that this genre has disappeared. Every generation there are fantastic musical artist. Times they just keep a changing. I love todays music as well. I just have to roll with the times.
Amazing to see how Austin managed to "capture" the Elvis sound, both in singing and talking... I start to believe Lisa-Marie when she wrote that this is an Oscar-winning performance for him. Can"t wait to be on June 24 to see the full 159 minutes of what promises to be a major event in this year's filmography
The king is dead, long live the King.
Coming from Lisa Marie that is a high compliment!!
What did you listen to? I mean I don't blame him for not sounding like Elvis but he definitely didn't sound like Elvis.
@@rexmagi4606 Not even close. I agree.
God peg the king
@@rexmagi4606 I know! But these casuals think Johnny bravo sounds like Elvis. Just hype something up keep repeating it, and like zombies they believe it.
If this movie release could hurry up, I’d greatly appreciate it.
Lol 🤣🤣🤣I know it right
Lol me too bring it on
Not long now.. we will make it 😍 I know it's harrrddd but it will be worth the wait !
Lkr
🤣🤣..best things come to those who wait..🤣🤣
It feels so right...and haunting. This looks fantastic. The trailers are exceptional.
Yes exactly...the more i re watch the trailers the more my keenness grows to see it
Oscar, meet "Elvis".
I lost it when he started his singing and guitar
@@andyroo9381 I REALLY DON'T THINK SO!!!!!!
@@ArnavKhode YOU are brainwashed and delusional buddy - go see a doctor and get your brain examined!!!!
I've been a fan for 45 years and am 50. This movie looks incredible. I cannot wait. Completely blown away.
Me too- well I’m 53- live in Vegas- this is quite exciting for me- I went to see it last night with my friend who saw Elvis play live here in town when she was younger and he sang the teddy bear song to her and gave her a teddy bear she still has it-The movies phenomenal-hope you enjoy it
I was very young when Elvis passed away. I cried. This movie was stunning, well acted and beautifully told. Austin Butler was incredible. How he moved, sang and talked was on point. Tom Hanks was also brilliant in his performance. Baz Luhrmann directing abilities make this a must see. If you had the privilege of being alive and witnessing the Legendary Elvis, you will particularly love this. ❤️
I wish my grandma were still here..she loved Elvis and I just know she would’ve loved this movie. I wish we could sit and watch it together and her tell me the way things really were. I’ll be watching for her. 🤍 👼
I remember exactly where I was when Elvis died on Tuesday, August 16, 1977. I was 14. My friend and I were sitting on the front steps to my house playing a board game. We had a radio on next to us to listen to music while we played. They interrupted regular programming to make the announcement. I remember both my friend and I just staring at the radio and saying “WHAT?!” Now I don’t mean to sound presumptuous (or crazy), but I do believe that your Grandma will be there with you watching this movie.
@@bracita15 I imagine it was super shocking for everyone and thank you, I hope so!
@@bracita15 I remember it too. I was eight. Sitting in my dad’s recliner and watching the news. I saw it and was in shock and ran to find my sister.
I can’t wait!!!! I’m 31 years old and I’ve been an Elvis fan since I was a little girl because my parents would always listen to his music!!! He’s the best!!! The legend who started it all!!! 🙌🔥🙏🏼🙌♥️
Thanks to culture appropriation.
@@lukewright9031 Shut up
Tearing up because this man's story is tremendously layered...no one is all good or all bad. My heart aches because I think Baz saw the superhero and how this superhero couldn't escape from his own self-destruction because of this loyalty he had to every person, every fan, every ideal...my heart! I am biting at the bit!
That’s a fitting description
I see that too. And this is exactly how we should remember elvis.
💯
Exactly, nobody's all good or bad, they'll make a film about Hitler next
@@ukmitch86 Hitler is responsable for genocide and destruction but I bet he was nice to his dog…
Just saw this movie!! It was amazing, I 10/10 highly recommended to go see it. Wonderful job Austin butler and the director and the other cast members!! Great job
Yes ... yes ... yes ... wish everyone could have lived when he was alive !! He was magic !!
then we would be all the same age 😄
yeah no doubt a great copycat of the true kings of rock n roll, the african Americans as yourll call them.
Hope to meet up with him and my father singing in heaven
@A Z She didn’t tell one Lie though👩🏽🙄✌🏾
If Rami Malek can win the best actor Oscar for Bohemian Rhapsody, then I believe Austin Butler can do the same for Elvis
it's one of those genre which can do it for you, Jamie Foxx as Ray Charles recent example, but playing any real life person give them an advantage.
Considering how terrible that movie was and Malek was not very good in it
@@kdohertygizbur I don't think many thought it was terrible, Malek was alright, but as i mentioned playing well known people seems to get people oscars. they value doing an impression of somebody more than the creation of a character for some reason
And with this movie not being halfway directed by a pederast, I think it has an even greater shot.
So true 👍
From A true Elvis fan this gives me chills from head to toe- he truly has the power of E! Long live the king! ❤️💕❤️💕❤️
This film will be a huge hit , Elvis is loved by so many people ,different generations , men , woman etc , gonna be special no doubt.
Yep
Who would want to love an abusive pedofile? His music was alright but not him
This looks AMAZING!!!!!!!! its Elvis time to rock again!!!!!!
Very glad big mama thornton is making an appearance. She inspired so many voices in music.
Oh man this is gonna be amazing… goosebumps..
Didn't think Austin looked like Elvis at all in the first trailer but this trailer shows he really captured the essence of Elvis and somehow looks a bit more like him.
That's the key...capturing the essence & I have to agree!
Definitely!!! I thought I was the only one who felt he looks more like Elvis in the second trailer
He dont look like him
he look like Ray Liotta
@@MegaFCKforever ok and ?
He just needed to have built himself up a bit more for the part - in my opinion he's a little too slim...
Austin butler is to win the 2023 oscar his interpretation of Elvis is very good
Maybe but now for the looks only his hair match elvis
Austin DOES do an amazing job in this role however, his hard work, dedication, as well as love and respect for the man it's all about - FAIR PLAY TO YOU MAN....AWESOME!!!👍👍👍
It takes more than looks. Acting, voice, physical. Can't wait
FANTASTIC MOVIE! Austin put his heart and soul in this!
John Lennon said it the best: "Before Elvis, there was nothing." Austin Butler looks the part and judging from this promo, he has done great justice to him.
From Beyond, Elvis is smiling and saying "Thank you very much."
Good comments, love John Lennon who also said "If you were to give Rock n Roll another name, it could be called Chuck Berry"
I'm all shook up!
“them girls wanna see you wiggle” is one of my favorite lines in the movie
Butler capturing Elvis' essence made my minds eye see him as the real Elvis. This looks pretty epic! I will be there in theaters!
I watched this today reggae is my favourite music but like lots off different genres i cant recommend it enough i thought it was on par with Bohemian Rapsody Queen film absolute quality loved it long live the King im all shook up 👍😘
Elvis Presley was before my time. From the moment I saw the first trailer, I wanted to see it right then and there. I don't know his music very well but what I hear, in these 2 trailers, moves me. "Suspicious Minds" is already on my mind. I cannot wait to see this movie!!!!!
He was for his time. Not before
I think he's before everyone's time..at this stage of the game lol.
Feel SORRY FOR YOU - GET WITH IT - HE'S THE KING OF ROCK & ROLL......FOR PETE'S SAKE!!!!
Wow wow wow, they could have got any Elvis look alike to play the part but it would never have worked, the Elvis legend needed bringing up to date and this looks mind blowing and the sound.... Elvis is laughing with joy in heaven 😊
I played my first Elvis record in 57… I need more… Elvis…
Go Austin as Elvis!💖
BEST MOVIE THIS YEAR HANDS DOWN!! My family and I just watched it and it was FANTASTIC ❤️👑❤️ The cast (specially Austin) was outstanding ! I’m so happy they made the movie with class! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I idolize Elvis Presley and this performance, even in the trailers, is the closest thing to him still being alive as we’re going to get
I can’t wait to see it I don’t care whether I go on my own I am going to say this in the cinema
I have 3 grade school kids and I'm taking them to see this movie. Elvis fans for the next generation. Start them young!👊 Elvis Presley an American icon forever.🙌
I Watched This Movie Three Times ,And Can Watch It Many More Times ! ILove Elvis I Have Been A Fan Since The Sixties, Loved Listening To His Music On A Big Screen Again, Austin Butler Is A Oscar Elvis In This Movie !
Thank you, Pricsilla Presley, Elvis brought and still brings an incredible amount of happiness into this world, and you are the reason Graceland is still there, I love you and your family so very much .
Elvis Is Back! 👑 🎸
I can’t wait for this movieee🔥🔥🔥
Fantastic movie , Austin Butler is amazing
Holy Cow this is gonna be AMAZING
I wish my mom and grandma were still alive to see this. My grandma LOVED Elvis. He was her crush growing up. When she passed away my mom got all of her Elvis merch and souvenirs, when my Mom died I got all of it. Purses, Records, Books, Magazines, Tins, Pamphlets, Ticket Stubs, even a piece of his hair in a lockbox LOL
I cant wait!!!!! This movie will be huge!!!!
Austin Butler may be the new Daniel Day-Lewis in his acting methods and devotion to the craft.
Ive loved Elvis since I was 15 years old. I'm 30, there's not a day I still don't love him as the first.
So excited for this movie
Austin should get the Oscar
RIP Lisa, Marie Presley❤️ the chain will link again👍🏽
I’ve been a fan for 54 years and I’m 53. Because I’m pretty sure my momma from Mississippi listened to Elvis while I was in the womb.
The greatest of history oh my king👑👑👑💯💯💯🎸🎤🎼
I hope Austin wins an Oscar for this role. He literally was ELVIS. Bravo.
I've been waiting years for this Baz movie, I'm absolutely buzzing for this 🤪
watched him a lot growing up. My mother had all the videos / records you name it so I love his type of music which is different ' because he was the real creator of the bad boy image and his music was legendary!
He has bad and good, he's real human he's a genuine person
I can’t remember the last time I was this excited for a movie movie release
Chills…. There is never been a performer like Elvis Presley, and they’re never will be again. Long live the king!
Michael Jackson???
There has been quite a few actually. He was of the first great performers, nobody denies that.
MJ is alot better ... Elvis was great but nothing more than that
He is a legend…
I loved all the films that Baz Luhrmann made. I can't wait!
I think I'll need a box of tissues next to me, good emotion and sad emotion, how many times ive seen the way footage when he started off, I wonder of I would of been there screaming and crying !!!
He was so so so important for music in those days, my 2 kids(now adults) they not massive fans like I am, my daughter though loved to watch my Elvis movies with me.
She would say why they dancing like that, Elvis and others in the films.
I said they did in those days. my Son is a musician, he has a lot of influences but he is a metal guitarist, mostly progressive metal.
I asked him a few month back what he thought of Elvis now and he said he was great and was great for music through his time and since.
So they both undersand the impact he had and still has !!!!
This movie just premiered in Croatia and I had the honour to be amongst the first to watch it, it is such a great movie! ❤️ I recomend!
Mercy!! Cannot wait, & I’m 79 years old!
This summer has some amazing movies! It’s been a while since I’ve been excited about a movie coming out. This summer has 3 I couldn’t wait to see…. Jurassic World, Top Gun, & Elvis. FINALLY! A summer like when I was a kid watching amazing movies in the theater.
If you're thinking of watching it or not. Watch it ! U wont regret it one bit
GOD MAKES SUPER STAR ELVIS WAS THE 1 LONG LIVE THE KING Elvis Presley TCB 2022
Finally a movie that looks like they GET IT ⚡️TCB⚡️
Yes!!!
I hope they will get Elvis’ significants across. He is not just an icon. He was a musical force. He wasn’t just a white guy playing black music. He mixed black and white music to a brand new sound. He was as indebted to black Rhythm ‘n Blues as he was to white Country and Blue Grass. Don’t forget that.
My grandma would be so happy and proud if she was here on Earth! I will watch this for her memory! Cant wait!!!!
IM SO HYPED
Austin Butler has really taken cared of business 🤙🏻
No he hasn’t
@@lukemcg5568 Yes sir he has... Let's not go on his look... Look at the acting, look at his dialogue delivery, his voice.. come on sir he has taken cared of business
He is not a good actor. Movie is overhyped anyway
@@lukemcg5568 looks like you are an Oscar award winner actor anyways
@@kunalsen9195 no need to be sarcastic.
I’m sick to death of naysayers knocking this film before it’s even out..what are you all seers now? Trailers only tell a small part of the story.
Once again let me repeat what every positive comment says. There is only one EP we know that..but this actor will bring out the essence of who he really was and bring it to a younger generation.
How can that be a bad thing? What you naysayers are asking is the impossible and frankly you’re all very naive to think that they could have used a TBA! If they had done that for argument’s sake..then you’d all be complaining that he would look wooden and this wouldn’t improve his legacy in any shape or form.
I am a huge fan of his, and yes i wish that he was still here..but he’s not, but i can see the bigger picture and i’m not stuck in the past.
Austin butler is a fantastic actor
Long live the king of Rock & Roll
Tom Hanks..another Oscar nod with this newcomer as well⚡🎸
Brand new Elvis book, Elvis: The Quest for an Oscar, 536 pages with a great cover, as good as the Elvis movie, written to hopefully get Hollywood and the Academy to recognize Elvis’s contribution to the movie industry with 31 movies that always were more than entertaining. Hundreds of photos and everything Elvis….
I wish my mum, who cried for days when he died, was alive to see this.
Elvis’ First World Tour.... Elvis is up in Heaven looking down on this... Let's get to the theater folks!
This Movie was amazing, just for the sheer power of the songs, that where performed, also the great outfits,Elvis only came to Scotland, once. He also looked good as a GI.
A very moving fim.
