@@vectric Question. I have a 2 sided job to do and did a perfect sample, worked out great. Problem tho is its very time consuming which puts the machining cost more than what the client feels worth. So, I am going the 3D carve just the top part of the model and leave the bottom flat. I will use 2" think material but only want to cut down 1 7/8" leaving 1/8" so it stays joined to my material blank. Should I use a 2 sided toolpath but just setup top side and toolpath using limit plane to control my depth? Hope this makes sense. Thank you
@@IndustrialPlasticsNanaimo Hey Jeff, if you are only going to machine the top side, then you will only need to work in a single sided job. Take a look at this tutorial www.vectric.com/support/tutorials/aspire?playlist=TutorialCategories&category=GeneralTopics&video=Importing_and_Exporting_3D_Data_General_Topics it might help you out with importing 3d models to only cut "half of it" (as a relief style) if this is what I think you mean? I apologies if this isn't what you mean, but if you need any further assistance feel free to contact our support team: www.vectric.com/support Thank you :)
you all probably dont give a damn but does any of you know of a method to get back into an Instagram account? I stupidly lost the login password. I love any tricks you can give me
Very good watched about six months ago but didn't have enough knowledge to adequately follow. Did you carve this model. i was wondering if it is likely to break the bill because it has no support?
Hey Rob, we've not machined this model I'm afraid, unfortunately we cannot tell you, however you do have a point, this could potentially be a weak spot, I imagine a tab would help, with some careful manual removal.
If I use the same Z Zero position as you did with the zero off same side checked, when I flip the piece over to do the bottom side do I zero my bit off the spoil board? Thanks
Hi, awesome video, quick question. After material setup for bottom side i get a warning message that all toolpaths must be recalculated, is this right?
Sorry for second comment and not fully relevant to this particular video, i.e. importing a model. When importing a model I see in the import tab you select where you want the zero plane. But how can you set the location of the zero plane in the middle when creating a 2-sided model. I am attempting to build a handle in Aspire with half the handle on the top and the other half on the bottom of the material, but since I am building it i don't get asked where to set the zero plane. Can you reference me to the place where i can figure this out? I have looked in the forum and can't find - maybe I don't know the right way to ask to get the search function to help me. If you can I would appreciate it, if not - well it doesn't hut to ask.
Hey Rob! When importing a model for 2 sided machining (set your job to two sided before importing) you will be able to choose to position the zero plane (you can double click on the middle notch to get that in the center - shown at 8.45) I hope this helps! Have a great day and good luck with your project!
@@vectric The video was very clear on the point you just made. I am not talking about importing a 2-sidedmodel. I want to create a two sided model. I want to be able to set the zero plane in the middle and then be able to have a limit plane that allows me to cut a bit beyond the zero plane.
Great tutorial! Thanks very much for this. Question that anyone may answer if possible. I always set me Z zero surface to machine surface. Can I continue this and always have my Z zero to machine surface for both sides?
@@vectric Yes, I did a test part in MDF and it turned out perfect. I set my Z zero to the machine surface first thing in the morning and it's good for all jobs thru the day. Thanks for the reply.
Hey Vilhjalmur, If you log into your portal account and download the 3D Tabs clip art you should have access to the three you are seeing in this video :) I hope this helps!
HI, I´m placing some 3D tabs to my 3D model, however when I run the rough process the tabs never appear, I have to run them on a separetad toolpath, what can I do?
Hi Luis, could you please email your question and file to support@vectric.com so that they can see your setup and advise on how to get this corrected, Thank you.
can u do a tutorial without useless blabla and a luittle more to the point?!?! and not emphasising the basic and obvious stuff?!!?! thanks PS why did u put cusping distance initially only to have-it altered afterwards? thats confusing!
Thanks to this video, today I did my first 2 sided 3D carve! Turned out perfect! Thanks again very much for the help here.
Glad to have helped! Hope your project turned out well :)

I'm pretty sure that beak is going to snap off on the second side while roughing.
👍👍👍👌
Thanks!
Hi I have one question about the Clip art Tabs, where did you get them? I have the clip art gallery but not the three tabs you have in your gallery..
