Having worked as a receptionist 40 years ago (yes I’m that old) I know how imperative that position is to a company. You are the FACE of the company and the First impression anyone gets whether it is through the door or on the phone. Your attitude can actually make or break a company. That’s why they are Extremely selective of whom they place there. Your bad day can’t show on your face at ANY time. That woman WAS A BAD DAY.

She had filed Everything under Mr. and Mrs. The last straw was, I came in and she was nowhere to be found. She was laying on the floor behind the desk because her back hurt. I've worked front desk before in a rotation of other office personnel and even had to take calls from customer accounts that I worked on I would tell them because I'm not at my regular desk that I would call them back as soon as I could after leaving the front desk. I can not tell you how many thanked me for returning their call after I had reviewed their account.
BTW I want to mention that I'm a man, so being a receptionist is not strictly a female position and if you take offense to this GET A LIFE.

I spoke to the other agents and we all rated other receptionists by ours, whether it was a Dr's office or other businesses. The receptionist is the first face clients see. I once inherited a receptionist when I was promoted at my job, who wouldn't even greet the customers, she would wait until they approached her.

"I am sure I'll be getting a call back". "You mean 2nd interview. Callbacks are for actors". I didn't actually know that. When I had minimum wage jobs, they would call me back later. When I found a career, they hired me on the spot, without needing a "callback"! 😂😅

I'm a security officer and we are the 1st point of contact when employees, guests, visitors, or even when something is being delivered or picked up? If I was her, I would have accepted any type of business/ office job even as a janitor?

Applicant: "Would have read it already..."
Me: Interview over! You don't dictate what I "should" have done! And tapping your fingers as if i'm wasting "your time?" NO!
Hostess isn't management, dear! And being a hostess isn't an 'essential' employee! And 'extensive experience' isn't in 6 months! You AIN'T THAT SPECIAL!
    Applicant: "Look..."
    Me: Interview over, round 2!
    Applicant: mini tantrum
    Me: Security!

This person has a very nasty attitude first of all. From being a server at a restaurant she's ready to move up and wants to be a manager. She thinks she's too good for any position but a manager. How rude is this person. I would never hire her. She's too obnoxious.
