This has been the most informative series I’ve seen on RUclips about increasing speed. Absolutely top stuff, been following since the start and implementing the concepts in my practise at home. At the weekend I sore the fruits come to bare, I hit my longest drive of this year (according to my Arccos data). Autumn time here in the UK and yet manage to drive it 288yards. I know that’s not massive but with the dense air and soft ground that’s a long way for me. I feel my swing speed is up, need to get on sim to check but bit of math work. I reckon I’m up in the 108-110mph with a driver and rising.
Just to reiterate this comment. The physics behind it are amazing. I’ve struggled with distance all my life. I’m now 61 and by using this sequence I’m great results in greater distance. Thank you.
Great video. Like to hear John's reply to "have you seen smaller, say 200 lb. forces, crack the head faster with less observable jump?". The direction & timing of the force is key. Marcus Bell of GRF Golf channel demonstrates how the movement can be small and very fast. I think this is what has been hidden in Couples, Els, etc. and the rest of us accidently do occasionally when we smooth one and send it right thru the dogleg. 🙂
If you think about the old Gary Player concept of the "walk through" after you hit the ball. This is exactly what you have to do in order to do the walk through drill. Same concept if you want skip a stone across water or literally throw the club down the fairway. The medicine ball Cordie was doing is the same concept. It's all the same concept just a different way to envision or feel it. Whatever works run with it.
I actually step forward with my right foot. I turn my left foot towards target during setup, square my shoulders and tilt. As I make contact and follow by stepping towards target with my trail leg it alleviates any jarring or jolting to my old bones.
Ok I got home and tried this . OMG not only did I gain some speed but for what ever reason I hit my drivers dead straight . But boy are my shoulders sore today . Mind you I am only at 105 swing speed .
The feeling of slowing the hands down is like when you cast a fly rod. You load the fly rod but you stop the hands and it release the energy into the tip and line.
Yeah I keep hearing it but from what I’ve seen there’s a bit of an academic black hole in regards to how it’s done. What muscle groups are involved etc. People can brake the hips with a lockout but it’s no guarantee the hands are going to slow.
Hands slow down because of the law of conversation of momentum. They are a result of the club releasing, not an active thing to "do". Just like an ice skater who is in a tight spin, she extends her arms and slows down.
25mph is 20% faster than PGA Tour average! That’s nuts, and with him applying braking force EARLIER, then the kinetic sequence will see the transfer of the speed fr the butt to the head.

Wow really appreciate it!! I’d have to say it’s been one of the funnest ones to film as well. Nice work on the speed gains.
I just wanted to say how much I've been enjoying this series. It's so interesting learning the physics of it all. Great job!
Thanks so much! Love hearing that!

This is amazing info, how many years have we been told dont go backwards, or you fell backwards and here all the while it is speed that moves you.
Useful as I also have this issue of not managing the driver length well either albeit at a slower speed than this. Something to try next range visit 👍

Foot pushing back the hip vs hip pulling the foot back is a big ol golden nugget

I hit my longest drives on both occasions my right foot slipped out from under me in transition from wet ground , now it all makes sense 😊

Great analogy! You have to decelerate to get the speed out to the club.

Wonder if a sorn off follow through would help get the feeling🤔
@@codex6594 Borgmeier has a video of him training the his braking with a sawn off follow through. So maybe, yes. He’s pretty fast 😉
@TheJohnnyblazsus cheers I'll check it out👍🍻
Great video. Well explained.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Do you do this with irons ?
With with do do irons?
@@ElGolfeux😂🤣😂🤣🍻
@@ElGolfeux LOL. Sorry guys . I'm dyslexic . Spell check got me on that one .

just use the stack. I've gained 20mph club head this year.
You just revealed Scottie Scheffler's swing secret

How can this improve the efficiency of the “ordinary “ golfers who don’t have that much club head speed in the first place?
you can still push in the same way, the sequence is the same. It will help you. I am at 90-95 with driver, and I get about 100 when I push properly.
your not pushing your twisting
