I agree with Kevin. Gordon Solie was the best commentator in professional wrestling. He was articulate, quick on his feet, had a steady tone, and was well-versed in the sport. He added class and authenticity to professional wrestling.

Gordon was the Best! He was so scientific with Latin Terms, Medical Terms, and proper Wrestling Terms. Gordon was as big to the match as the wrestlers. He was a great storyteller (Dusty's face becomes a crimson mask or it appears Colt has a foreign object in his hand.) We all remember the infamous phone call from the NWA President. Backstage Gordon was a wonderful person and I am proud to call him My Brother. Alas, my brother!

Grew up in Tallahassee watching Gordon Solie on Championship Wrestling from Florida, went to several events at the old Tallahassee Sports Arena, an old tobacco barn, Gordon was always there walking around talking to people, great times!

Gordon's catch-phrases never grow old- "His face is a crimson mask!" "It's a pier-six brawl" "We'll be back once order is restored!" "Certainly no question about that." Gordon and Dusty Rhodes were to wrestling what Howard Cosell and Muhammad Ali were to boxing. So much of Championship Wrestling from Florida's huge success was due to Gordon Solie. I agree with Sullivan, Gordon was the best at calling wrestling. Jim Ross was the best when things changed to "sports entertainment."

Gordon Solie put me to sleep listening to his bland style. Vin Scully is another who is celebrated as as great. I just didn't see it.
But everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Not saying they weren't good just not my style.

Baffles me that people think Jim Ross was a good commentator. The 1st thing they teach you in Broadcasting school is to speak clearly and remove any colloquial accent be it southern, NY accent, etc. Ross is HORRIBLE
