Paradise Oskar represented Finland at the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest in Düsseldorf, performing the song 'Da Da Dam'. Finland came in 21st position in the Final with 57 points.
This song deserved WAY more points
THE SONG IS SIMPLY BORING !!!!
@@MrMrjack18 YOU ARE BORING
@@TpsFani99 I don't think i'm boring mate ! I just find this song extremely boring !!!
@@MrMrjack18 Then you dont understand music
@@lentavahollantilainen7088 Molitva is my fave song... i understand music ! but i don't like slow paced songs !
Ten years has gone by. This song becomes more relevant each year.
This is so true
Exactly😂🥲
This was too early by at least a decade. In 2024 it's more relevant than ever. This was my favourite to win in 2011 by the way, and still one of my favourite ESC songs of the twenty tens.
21st place?? Eurovision can sometimes be so cruel and unfair. This was my winner.
This is little boring to me, but 21st place?
Martin Fjellanger Oscar Paradise was the 3rd in his semi-final, but something weird happened...
At least he got 12 points from Norway :) kolme10
Desert Plant I understand that, but sending bad songs because of dissatisfaction is not helping.
But I really liked Finland's song in 2014, and Im sure many people actually will like the finish entry this year. Maybe not because of the song, but because of the message that people with Down Syndrome can be in every part of society. :)
Monsieur Paradis was 3rd in his semifinal group.
When this song was chosen to represent Finland I remember our Physics teacher talking to us about how this song is exactly how it is -- the planet heading in a catastrophic direction, and people in general not doing anything about it, just talking about it like "da da dam da da dam" -- meaningless talk that does nothing
In 100 years, people will appreciate this song.
We should save it
It's already 2018 and i appreciate this alot.
This is the perfect song for Greta Thunberg and all the kids striking for climate right now :)
If humans are alive then...
earth will be gone in 100 years lol
No flashy graphics
No distracting dancers
No fireworks
Just a guy pouring his heart out. A true Eurovision performance!
Look how happy he is
I wish he had won.. The song, the message, the performance, everything on top
Definitely had deserved to win.
This song was gorgeous! It should have been in first place The message s so pure and true. Emphasise on 'true'. The part of the song where everyone cheered after he sung 'I'm going out into the world to save our planet' just makes me cry.
C Burow you'd be surprised to know that the composer made it as a mockery
I think the cheering came because the globe went up in the background.
Would there be cheering if you went up in the background?
When I saw this back in 2011 I didn't understand engish, now looking back at this today I'm so proud to see Finland sent a song like this to Eurovision.
SophanaR Same. Five years later I finally understand the meaning and it's so beautiful ❤👏
You can be very proud. Listening to this song in 2020 and it's more relevant than ever!!
Im Finnish and i dont usually praise Finland but this really touch my heart and its so good! I dont say that he would win but 21st place!? Come on Eurovision, so wrong!
I'm greek, but I agree! This and Lena's songs are the only songs from 2011 that I still hear...
It was my favourite that year
I hope you liked Finlands song this year 😛
He was singing about how world is dying..
He was Ed Sheeran before Ed Sheeran was cool
And told about Greta Thunberg before she became known
@@iidakuparinen4663 1) Kappaleen lapsi oli poika
2) Älä vertaa tähän sitä meuhkaajaa. Paradise Oscar osasi sentään tehdä jotain omin sanoin. Greta ei osaa puhua ilman isoa paperipinoa edes medialle.
@@temegron6695 Oscar puhuu perkele suoraan, ärsyttävää ku menesty näin huonosti 😒
Ed Sheeran could only dream of writing a song this good 😊
Song would be awesome but that da da dada dadaa ruins the song
This is one of my favorite entries from Finland. I still believe that he deserved _something better_ than 21st place..
what a pun
This is one of my top 10 favourite Eurovision songs of all time.
At least Finland won gold in ice hockey on the same weekend XD
Tengy GT 300.000 populated iceland beat 80.000.000 populated turkey on football lol
Well in the 90s sweden won the esc, hockey and pingpong championships on the same weekend😮😮😮😊
Ice hockey has nothing to do with music or artistic integrity.
in Finland it actually does have to do something with music and had there been a ESC win that weekend the party wouldnt have been any bigger. Because 2011 we won the gold after a 16 year exhausting break that included many silver medals, everyone that was able was going outside that day. I would describe the day completely crazy all around Finland. I mean there were people on the top of houses and statues, cars and people covered in Finnish flags everywhere, who knows what all kinds of crazy stuff happened that night. Ice hockey championships have to do with music because everytime we get the gold, there will be a huge outdoor concert including famous pop artists and the winning team will be celebrated at the same stage as well as the cup that they bring home. Did the same thing with Lordi in 2006 though but they had their own concert.
Its heartwarming when he sang Im coming out in this world to save our planet, everybody cheered
I can't believe that he came in 21st place.. He should have won. Why did they put him to preforme first... so unfair.
it was still a random draw in 2011
What I thought they still draw it :o so someone just decides the order nowadays?
Sipu97 yeah since 2013 the producers decide. It's to stop like 5 ballads in a row which cancel each other out. They always start and end with an upbeat song (e.g. 2017 had Israel first and France last) and they try to alternate with upbeat and slow for each song. The half they perform in is at random though, the artists pull it out of a hat
Joey that's actually pretty smart, thanks for the info
This was played on BBC radio 2 a few weeks ago and was advertised as a heartwarming song,
Everyone, 21st is a low place but think about points it got 57 points which is the highest amount of points a 21st placer have ever earnd
So fucking positive dude.
And if the new system was used, Finland will have 197 points in the first semi final, and 122 points in the grand final. That would be the third highest Eurovision score so far (after Lordi with 292 points, and Softengine with 153 points (if new system used)).
Also put into the perspective, 122 points in new system could finished a 12th place in 2019!
Not really. In 2018 Hungary had broken the record for being the highest 21ster ever. They had received 93pts in the final
@Gumboliniz 2901 that with the new voting system. Finland with that system would have got 122pts
So beautiful song! In my opinion Finland was 21st because this song was the first one to sing so people already forgot it when there's so many other songs too. Silti paras laulu tän vuoden viisuista.
That I think was the reason too .But for me one of the all-time favourite Finnish entries.
Still get goose bumps every time the globe appears and the audience reacts
Still remember this incredible performance ...
I was listening to "gravity" by coldplay and it reminded me of this song .. it's cool
I just love how you can hear the crowd joining in here and there, makes it that extra notch more wholesome.
This 21th place and Azerbaijan won. Something rotten was going on.
Azerbaijan deserved to win but I'm also with you, Finland deserved at least 5-15
Stefan Sigfinnsson it’s a lovely song but it was forgotten as he was on so early!
Something rotten...Azerbaijan.
It's a sweet song, but back then it was after Lordi won a competition that who makes the craziest and most memorable song. This didn't fit the category
azerbaijan bought sms and turks voted for them
finland is always so underrated in eurovision. :( i'll always remember this performance. so beautiful. voted for it in the semi finals and the finals.
A performance that feels like a warm hug. I cried the first time I heard it.
2021 and I still think it's one of the best Eurovision songs ever ❤
Sooo underrated.... :(
Finland is very underrated because they don't really get votes from someone every year. Like russia from ukraine and belarus
Eurovision is all about buying votes these days.
Finland doesn't do that stuff, unlike some countries.
That's exactly what i mean, Your songs gotta be REALLY good to win without buying points. It ruins eurovision :(
minesens Yep.. Eurovision is waaaay too corrupted these days :P
Couldn't agree more! I voted for Finland 372937236826326 times last year with everyone's phones. Yet Finland didn't get any points from my country. Wtf :/
minesens I know! It's sad that we don't get appreciated by our neighbor countries like some countries do :/
remembered this one and cant believe it was in 2011
Life isn't always fair and this song is a great example.
He won my heart when I was a child by his beautiful voice and lovely smile❤ love this song 😍
One of the best songs in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2011.
This deserved so much more love
Love the cheering from the audience
It was probably for the globe coming up in the background.
they already cheered at the beginning, when the globe was not there yet, I was in the audience that evening and this stood out and gave such a feeling of being together in the audience with this beautiful song about saving our planet.
The intro on this song still gives me goosebumps. Incredibly beautiful. I love Europe and Eurovision! :D
Still getting goosebumps of this great version. A great song, a relevant message as ever.
This is one of the most beautiful Finnish song in my opinion....too underrated
I agree. I remember how disappointed I was because it didn't win. Not only because I'm finnish, but because it just was absolutely the best song that year.
@@Helen-jz7st Norway gave you 12 points :)
I still love this song
So sweet, and still relevant ❤
When I first heard it, it touched my heart. The melody, the lyrics, the singer...perfect. Thank you Paradise oskar for singing this song.
Such a sweet song ❤ Still good years later
we finns are so glad about people supporting our representers every year, you people always are lovely ❤❤
That was so *CUTE* //cries
ESC is so unfair! This is one of the examples. A wonderful song! I'm from Sweden and I have to say we won with many rather cheap songs. Some countries like Finland often got so many bad results. Unfair!
Love you neighbors 🇫🇮❤🇸🇪
This song is the best eurovision song I've ever heard! He's voice is amazing and he looks so cute. Love this! Greetings from Estonia :)
Love you neighbors 🇫🇮❤🇪🇪
I totally love this!! and that stage! Wow, surely one of the best stagings in ESC history, even the audience applauds when the earth appears. Class act from Finland, deserved lots of points!
Important message in 2019
Best eurovision song ever im crying always when im listening to this.
Me too!
Soooooooooo sweet and relaxing. It deserved a much higher place! In my top 5 in 2011.
We (Finland) love when our country is noticed, because we are smaller country then e.g., Sweden, Norway or Great Britain. But we are as strong as you all. Käärijä can proove that :)
For me you are one of the most underrated countries in eurovision
Finland was my winner 5 times, and in the top 3 several times
This song is timeless. Many Eurovision songs, even winners, are forgotten. This one shouldn't the message is more important than ever. I could easily see this song on a blockbuster movie soundtrack about environmental catastrophe.
I know the running order didn’t help this song at all, but it was such a cute performance ;-; Finland is so underrated
One of the best ESC ever!
From Serbia.
I’ve had this song stuck in my head for the last nine years
You're not alone
Your brain at work: "Da Da Dam, Da Da Dam, Da Da Dam..."
😂
This was the absolutely best song in the 2011 contest. The music is great and the lyrics are touching. I expected it to come first but it got 21st. :(
Mein Lieblingssong des Eurovision Song Contest aus dem Jahre 2011. Das Album ist auch fantastisch! Ich warte noch immer auf mehr!
Love this song because it has has such a beautiful message and is so simple!
Finland, please send some stuff like this again!
I second this. My favourite music genre!
This HAS to be the anthem for our generation!
One of the greatest Finnish ESC entries ever. And there have been but a few.
This song is about Peter Thunberg
Beautiful song, still listening to it, love it so much!!!!
a simple song , but I love it!!
I love the cheers when the planet goes up. :)
I was in the hall that night, and everyone was singing the da da dam part along, you can hear it slightly on the video, it was amazing!
Ed sheran's Little Brother ☺
actually, first famous Ed's song came out after this contest happened :D So, technically, Ed is his little brother :)
paradise oskar outsold
One of the best songs in ESC history.
Greetings from Germany
That was a beautiful message
This could be the theme song for Friday's for Future!
And it's still one of the best Eurovision songs of the century.
Finland got a bad place because performing #1 is BAAAAD
True, when there are 25 songs, you forget about the first ones, if they are not especially memorable.
Why is that bad?
No. The first is much better than second or third.
So true, never the winning song has ever performed 1st
@@Marcus_Oelschlegel Well Bosnia and Herzegovina finished 6th with televote despite performing 2nd in that very same year
In 2021 still listening...it was so unfortunate he had to sing as 1st entry, so underrated!!!
This is my favourite from 2011!❤️
If someone ask me 'what's Yours Favorite Song from ESC?' Definitely this masterpiece. Absolutely out of the world performance. With beautiful and uniquely massage. ✌
Great message ! Long live mother 🌏 .
He's talking about real and important stuff and then we have lyrics of the song that won 2011:
Come to me, come to me tonight
Oh God, I need you, anyway
Baby, I just wanna be, be around you all the time
Oh God, I need you, oh…
I’m running, I’m scared tonight
I’m running, I’m scared of life
I’m running, I’m scared of breathing
‘Cause I adore you
I’m running, I’m scared tonight
I’m running, I’m scared of breathing
‘Cause I adore you
I’m crying I was 13 and loved him and this song so much 😭 and I was so angry about him performing 1st 🇫🇮
Amazing song! Greetings from Russia!!! Still loving in 2017!
This was my favorite that year! Deserved so much higher placement.
I'm proud of my country❤
If finland would have this song now, it would have so much better place 😍 not 21st
beautiful words, relevant today more then ever
True winner of Eurovision 2011
0:55 omg the crowd when the globe rise up in the screen🥺🙏🏻💕
Ikr. warms my heart 😍
I'm still baffled why this song didn't win 😳 Simple, brilliant song with a good message.
Still one of my favorite songs from the Eurovision, Well done, 1,000,000 points from the UK
I'm going out in the world to save the planet and I ain't coming back until she's save. True words 😍👍
2023 and still so genuine and nice
My last year's favourite. Beautiful song, I still love it.
Will always be my favourite
This Performance is just unforgettable
i love this song
This was actually a really strong song and still is
should have won
Definitely.
Still after 9 years, this is the most european song Eurovision has ever seen
This is the most wonderful song in the history of Eurovision *___*
I really don't like Eurovision but I remember watching the first song in 2011 and how I liked it. I still watch it in 2016. He actually performed, which is a surprise at this otherwise nonsense show. The song is musically very nice and catchy, and he could sing it really well. The lyrics is also good, it has an important message. Overall it should have won by a mile.
Wow, I actually love this song, thanks PO!
I adore that song, so cute, so adorable,
and that Earth coming on BG is wonderful
Aww just look at that cutie pie❤️ I remember how I started loving this song right away all those years ago :D
Паренёк всё ещё вдохновляет на всё хорошее.
