if you had a dslr in the past ( d750 && d850 ) you will know it can do everything the mirrorless system you just highlighted can do via the LIVE VIEW MODE. So a dslr is a hybrid ( without live view - trad dslr && in Live view mode- fully mirrorless ).
If getting a DSLR in 2021, especially pros, a hybrid photo video camera like the Nikon D780 is still a very good option. It has the Z6 sensor inside plus all the latest firmware in the z6ii like selected box area focusing and eye detect for liveview with touch screen and includes tilt screen. Only missing is IBIS in body of D780 and dual processors, but there are VR image stabilization in FX telephoto lenses. Both Z6ii and D780 have BSI Cmos sensors for clean images with better low light, less noise, and right now bodies are priced very similar to each other. The non liveview mode of D780 uses the high speed Phase Detect good for birders and fast action sports, and continuous focus lasting 1500 shots on one battery (non liveview, still photo mode) while Z6ii is rated 420 shots on a battery. So this can be a choice for people who still prefer larger DSLRs with a Z6 PDAF BSI cmos sensor inside it, with same image quality, and long battery life. USB charging is also possible with more external buttons on D780. That said if your needs are a smaller camera, then the Z cameras make sense.
But then if you do video you won't have access to the super silent Z lenses, that is the issue. For stills I even think that the Z5 is a great choice, but personally the Z6 II is the best choice for hybrid shooters.
I can give you a reason. Lowlight Af acquisition. DSLR work flawless. Mirrorless when using flash you need to turn off the mirrorless feature anyway so if you are shooting with strobes indoors you can’t use it. Many mirrorless till now had hard time with Af indoors in lowlight.
Hey..good videos buddy..just wanna know is it still worth to purchase a nikon z 5 or nikon z6ii ?? Is it worth upgrading to nikon z6ii from nikon z5? I do weddings and portrait photography!!
I don't quite agree with your don't buy Z6 in 2021 statement ... In Canada a Nikon refurbished Z6 with the 25-70/4 S lens it's sub 2000$. I've got one ... zero shutter exposures. It's an excellent camera to use (for now) beside the D850 if you want to stay Nikon for the price point. The lens is very good if you want a light versatile option to take with you and as a camera is superior to the Z5 and cheaper to. The z6II suffers from the same autofocus gremlins as the Z6. So by the time the proper mirrorless response to Sony and Cannon comes from Nikon and you get that, the Z6 will still be an excellent video camera unless you feel the need of shooting 8k for whatever reason you want that. Use the price difference to the Z6II to get excellent Z lenses in the meantime.
Thanks for the feedback! I’ve personally had experience Z6 as as wedding photographer and in every other way for more than a year. It’s a hard not to recommend the z6II for wedding photographers because the 2 cards alone gives us a piece of mind. If z6ii doesn’t exist, I’m still keeping my z6! It really is a great camera 🙏🏻
I found z6ii snappier but not necessarily night and day difference. I suggest to use the smaller autofocus points/box instead of wide when shooting dark or low light as it will acquire faster focus in my experience
Thanks for the insights! Like you, I’m currently on a D850 and highly considering moving to mirrorless. I’m also “downgrading” as I do not shoot as much anymore, so I’ll be using it still for personal travel, portraits, street photography, events. Is the Z5 enough to cover these bases or is the Z6ii still the better choice? I personally felt the D850 was perfect image-wise, but the size and weight just does not make it fun to shoot with. Thanks!
You’ll be better of Z5 if this is the case, imho. Since you’re coming from d850 (as I did), you may notice the lcd screen resolution is different so you may not see the same as you would with d850. It’s probably better to try a z5 from a photo store and compare side by side. Other than than I was really happy with my z5. I currently have two z6ii.
Hi. Am a amateur landscape photographer planning to get my first full frame. Am pretty confused between z5 and z6. I also do a lot of night sky shots so I want a photo camera that has excellent dynamic range and great low light capabilities. Will z5 fulfill my needs or should I go with z6 or other options like a7c ? And I don't do video. So I don't care about video specs
Hi, thanks for the interusting video. I am looking for a canera under $2000 cad but i am confused between z5 and z6 and z50. I need a canera for personal use only mainly for clicking pictures more and less videos. What do you think i should go for? Or is there is something else i should look too?
For under $2k budget I can recommend using z50. I have one and I use it for mainly personal use. Id like the simplicity and the size If you’re looking to get a different brand or using it for vlogging and video, I’d go for sony like a6400.
Have you noticed any creaking when applying pressure to the lower half of the memory card door on the Z6 II? I’ve got an example of what I mean on my channel. It is kinda annoying! Other than that I love the camera.
Hi David, while I’m not the most qualified person to answer landscape photography questions, the Z5 will do the job and will not disappoint. Getting the z6 wouldn’t mean to much for landscape photography. At the end it will still be your lens and editing that would bring your photos to the next level.
I've seen and read reviews regarding the Z6 acquires focus faster than the Z5 regardless having the same AF systems .. They say the Z5 tends to hunt more when shooting in low light mainly due to the Z6's BSI sensor having a faster readout than the Z5's CMOS sensor .. Is this by anyway true ?? Did you experience something like this in your reviews ??
I didn’t tbh, if there is on other reviews, it probably isn’t a dramatic difference. they would have to test with the same lens and conditions. I had successfully used z5 on events and weddings and extremely happy with the results.
@@ZyberFlix So acquiring focus is the same in the Z5 & Z6 .. Here is the video where it shows the Z6 focuses faster, he also said that he interchange sa lenses to be sure .. ruclips.net/video/i_GJwWfo9es/видео.html
Nice video.
It wasn’t bad at all. It was just the lcd display (which is similar to z50) has less contrast. This is personal preference since I’m used to seeing high resolution screen on z6 so I’d rather have the lcd previews the same on my camera for me to prevent tweaking the settings on the z5. However it does not affect image quality. If it’s your first time looking at z5 lcd, you will not complain ✌🏻 Getting the same exact camera for me really helps if you’re using dual bodies for events.
Action,Sports & Wildlife area Dslr are still best suited for these areas due to battery life is Superior to mirrorless battery life and robustness of the dslr

As far as size goes, mirrorless is not smaller than DSLR's. Once you put a lens on the camera the mirrorless lenses must make up the spacing the mirror took making them longer than regular F mount lenses. This makes size a wash.
Mirrorless lenses do not need to make up for the space of where the mirror is, they just focus the light closer to the base of the lens as the sensor is closer to the lens.
