    It really brings home how much shorter people were not that long ago. Presumably these were tough, intimidating guys of the era, but a lot of them are listed around 5'5" or 5'6" in height.

    James Lowrie and James Caan bare a slight resemblance.. imo..
    as for hands on chests I think because hands are so distinctive it's a form of identification?? (reminds me of a line in a Wovenhand song, Deerskin Doll- I dare not rest my hands on my chest) whenever I'm presented with these old mug shots, I think of the words in Luke 4:18 explaining why God sent Jesus.. in short, to proclaim peace freedom and healing to the prisoners!
    the music around 11minutes could be used as some kinda Charlie Brown theme music ..? 🤷

    In just over 100 years men have grown taller? Most prisoners whos height is listed here were not as tall as the average today.

      You have a point. I live in NYC. Not too long ago, NYC averaged over 2000 murders per year, but now it's around 700. But, the real reason for less murders is that surveillance cameras are everywhere.

    The mugshot of Dillinger was taken in 1924; this is the one stint in prison, 9 yrs., that made him into what he was famously known for. 🏛🪙💵💰💸💨
