That shirt of your's had me chuckling all the way through.Oh my I amazed myself that something like that would give me such a laugh! Anyway,..that's a good idea to plant trees for the future, my brother-in-law and I planted a whole row of trees many, many years ago in lieu of a fence between out properties; they were merely shrub sized then, you should see them now!
Trees are a good positive legacy to leave behind Reg, some can last many hundreds of years and give future generations comfort and pride in what their predecessors created. As far as my T shirt...... most of my T shirts are a bit naughty, my youngest daughter loves to get them for me, plus I have more from other family members who are a little less risk aye in their taste. Life is short, live it with a grin. 😁
Great Job Farmer P. My kind of farming channel. Trees are so underrated by farmers. I've only recently in the last 5 or so years started to appreciate their strength and beauty. Great for the soil and natural shelter for livestock and there's the firewood that can be gathered from annual cutting and pruning. I've a lot of ash predominantly. Birch and alder are very common too. I think alder is a lovely tall elegant tree and a great soil Improver
I am hoping our Ash survive the onslaught of Hymenoscyphus fraxineus, (AKA Chalara, Ash die back)The general consensus is we will loose 9 out of 10 of our trees.Alder is a great soil improver, having similar properties to Clover, the tree extracts Nitrogen from the air and fixes it in nodules on the roots giving it a great advantage in poorer soils, you will only release this element through cultivation, but light tillage outside the drip line wont do any lasting harm to the tree.
Great job, its wonderful when you get a job were the trees you plant are likely to be there in a few generations time. Ive planted quite a few trees were they are unlikely to last (constraints of space, possible development or likely succession of ownership). Ive never planted any welingtonia, gives me an idea for the deer park at my work.
Paul F These two trees are intended to frame a small lake I hope to dig in a year or two. They were only £3.00 each, the guards will cost about £50 each. I intend to plant many more trees over the next year or two, including non native species from Southern Europe etc, our climate is warming so I am planting with that in mind.
Enjoyed that 🤔 hearin u say about blunting the nail, glad old tips survive 👍 an seein u usin a nail as a prop to hold the rail level while u nail the other end, and was intrigued by the information about the glaciers retreatin, shame they only retreated to Scotland 🤔😂 😂 oh an by the way ur wife was tellin porkies bout u lookin cool with these glasses on 🤔😂😂
Robert Paterson Thanks a Robert, I thought she was probably tugging my chain .... again. 😄 Fortunately I’m not too bothered about being a fashion icon, far too busy being a scruffy bumpkin 😁
Neusa C A bit risk aye, but hopefully no one will be too offended, my daughters love to get me naughty T shirts so I am almost always wearing something a bit rude under the overall. As it gets warmer folks will probably be exposed to a few more of them, not all though...... A few are just too naughty.😄
They should look good in a few decades 👍we've a couple of oaks on the estate I contract to, one's huge, must be 300+yrs unfortunately the rest were pollarded in the 80s by the local college forester back when that's what they thought should be done. They'd be lovely now 😣
Nick Hill Fortunately the human lifespan is substantially less than most trees Nick. I am currently enjoying mature trees that some like minded fellows or ladies planted in the last century or two, or even earlier. We need trees, and our grand children will possibly need them more at the rate we humans are destroying our planet. If I can encourage some of my channel followers to plant trees themselves I will consider my efforts a success.
Robert Wallis I don’t do heat very well Robbert, never had. My dad considered emigrating down under when I was a baby, I was one of the reasons he never went, I turned into a glowing tomato in my pram, in the British sun.
DidGaming Gaming We have two more, A Case 695 with quicke loader and an old MF 165. The post rammer though is better on the MXU front linkage, much easier to use.
You are doing a great job farmer P 😁

@@FarmerP Yes that was our thoughts on the tree'd boundary,...and my dear old Dad, used to tell me, " if you have no sense of humour, you are lost!"
