Far-Right rioters mob a migrant hotel in Rotherham following days of anti-migration action. The Lord Mayor of Liverpool Richard Kemp said that attacks on his city were "rapidly" mobilised with the use of social media.

I remember when the migrants-in-hotels scandal was first exposed back in the summer of 2020. Why on earth, 4 years later, are they still there? The authorities responsible for both housing and keeping them there should bear the full brunt of responsibility for this incident, especially given Rotherham's darker history involving minority groups which appears to again have been totally overlooked by the authorities...

I dont condone violence but in the case of the protests taking place i understand the reaction to the action that caused this. When your experiencing the effects of uncontrolled migration on a daily basis then there is a tipping point, we have reached that point.

I'm from foreign & Muslim orgin myself however i understand the anger.
Asylum seekers take low skilled jobs from low skilled English citizens, and they contribute to lowering woking conditions, including wages, by accepting any working conditions.That is the real problem, or that is what they think is the real problem, and the crime rate may be higher among people from foreign origins as well.
So until the government does something to solve these issues, part of the population would continue to feel upset about it.

From an American, I don't know where the rioters stand in terms of left or right. I have found that those inexact terms mean different things in different countries. What I have read is that the perpetrator of the stabbings was raised as a Christian (Roman Catholic accdg to this report) , born in the UK whose parents were from Rwanda . And I have read that online misinformation incorrectly identified him as a Muslim. Then the rioters attacked a Holiday Inn Express (the identified "migrant hotel") which evidently houses Muslim migrants. So here it appears the rioters were primarily influenced by anger at their lot in life, racism and bigotry. Do I have that right?
I am so sorry for the victims of the knife attack at the dance studio. The perpetrator evidently had some mental health issues and was not a migrant but a UK citizen who was raised in the Christian faith. He was neither a Muslim, nor a migrant. This should be a lesson. Unchecked and ignorant hateful violence is wrong. It isn't the color of your skin nor your religious faith that makes you a good or bad person, but the content of your character. The U.S. is also dealing with racism and bigotry; and all good people should try to stand against such ignorance and hate.
Maybe you should make an attempt to understand the depth of feeling in the country and reasons for it before commenting on foreign affairs - particularly relevant to Rotherham are the decades of "grooming" gangs being allowed to operate because the police were too scared to come across as racist.
