I’ve come back to your tutorials multiple times over the last few weeks of learning how to use the XR18 that my church uses FOH and for live-streaming audio (in the works, since I’m learning how to do it properly). Thanks for serving other sound techs with your experimentation and learning.
Thank you for taking the time to create this tutorial. I have to say its the most clearest set of instructions on this version of the application I have ever seen. Its like the mist has been lifted from my eyes!! I can now use my device with a lot more confidence as I know how to navigate around the different menu options. Thank you.
Thank you SO much for posting this series of videos on the XR18. Hands down the best comprehensive tutorial on the Behringer XR18 I have seen on RUclips. Every time I had a question, you answered it somewhere in the playlist. Anyone who purchases this mixer should watch this entire playlist from start to finish. Can't wait to get started with my new mixer.
Hello Andrew, top notice demonstrations. Just bought x18 and was not sure if it was way over my head to manage, but your video eased my thought. Again great videos. I seen a few of yours now.
hello! i have a bit problem. Dose Bheringer not supported M2 MacBook Air? Because I can't connect my laptop to the mixer, and also I can't update the frimware. I hope you can help. Thanks!
I only had access to this device for a short time while working at a church where I was installing one. I don't know what's currently happening with them.
Just a correction on this product. Behringer supports PC and Mac but also Linux. For some reason Linux support is forgotten about in the tutorials and sales of the Behringer products. So those that use a DAW (Ardour, Reeper, etc.) on Ubuntu Studio, KX Studios or other Linux OSs for pro-audio, most of the Behringer products fully support Linux OS as well.
Sorry, I don't have access to this device anymore. I'm no longer with the church where I installed it. I never had to do that, so I'm not sure how one would go about it.
Go to: www.behringer.com/downloads.html and then choose - Mixers: Digital Stage Mixers: All: XR18: Software: Mac On my screen it shows 1.5 and 1.7 versions currently available.
Very good work my friend, but you really should redo this one. As you know, the Video & Audio quality really improves after 13:11 No reason to put out, "Less than the best!" Yes Sir, thanks for your Pro Approach... Blessings
If you wanted to reset the xr18 so that all channels are the same, nothing was active and basically you could start from a blank slate how would you do that. Is that under the set up function where it says initialize? I don't understand why when I go to the "input tab" some of the frequency's have a value. I would like to set up a band from scratch and not have any frequency's, gains or nothing pre set. I hope this makes sense.
Yes, hitting the 'initialize' button on the setup menu will put the board back to it's factory default state. If you have one blank channel, and you want some of your other channels, but not all of them, to go back to their original state, you can copy the blank channel and paste it over the channels you want to reset. That's a quick way to clear off just a few of your channels. It's always wise to save your channel presets and your current setup as a 'scene' before resetting, just in case you regret your decision to initialize the board.
Very informative - Thank you. Quick question, I would like to be able to manage the playing of recorded music from the house control location (e.g., 100' away). Thoughts on how that could be done? My understanding is that the X air app does not allow for input from the PC (in this example) into the Air Edit program and I do not want to run a USB cord 100 ft'. Thanks again
You could run from your headphone jack into a DI, and then over XLR. If you do run that far with USB, it will need to be an Active cable, not a passive one.
Nice Video Was Wondering if it's possible to use XR12 as a radio broadcast console if so how do i engage the on air mic and cut the monitors automatically when the announcer is ready to talk.
I'm not sure what you're asking. There are a couple of ways to potentially do what you want. A Side-Chain filter could allow you to attenuate audio on one channel when audio is detected on another channel. Another thing to look into would be the 'auto-mix' function. This allows you to have a number of live mics, but only the one through which audio is coming be the active channel, while others are attenuated. I'm not sure that either of these solutions really addresses what you're looking for. Another strategy would be to re-map the inputs so that you have one input feeding two channels, one of which was output to the in-house monitors, the other which went out to broadcast. Have both playing, and then mute the one going to the monitors when you don't want them active. It's too complex a question to really answer well without more context and the opportunity to talk it through. Also, it's not something I've done in the past, so I don't have a clear idea of what you're looking for.
Hi Andrew thanks for your reply what i was ask is if there is a way i can use the Behringer xr12 air mixer as a radio broadcast mixer i know it possible but the only thing i can't figure out is how to setup a channel on the xr12 to operate like on a broadcast mixer where when you press the button on one of the channels to talk live on air the same button also cuts off the audio going to the monitors automatically so u don't get mic feedback from the monitors.
We can't seem to find this software on the Behringer product page. Looking especially for the MAC version. I saw a beta was released in 2015. Was it ever updated?
Sorry, I no longer have access to the board, and I didn't pay much attention to effects returns and masters when I did. I just left them alone. The only reason to change them would be if you wanted to affect FX globally, and I never had reason to.
what compressor or precision limiter to get a vocal reduction only when shouting that doesent color sound so singer hears exacly same but lower no coloring below just limiting after ex 12 db......donrt want it to color even touch the other partsss just limit clean ........big hugs from ibiza
Hi Andrew, I've just downloaded the x air xr18 edit app to my PC. it keeps showing that I am not connected. So when I go into my set up and filling my 7 digit key word it keeps saying fill in 5 to 13 digits. I am not moving forward with the setup. please help. thanx
Sorry, just saw this now. Hopefully you've figured it out by now. I would recommend looking at the switch on the board that controls where the signal comes from, whether internal, from a router or direct.

Hey. No problem. I was making the videos for the church I was at, figured they might help others too 🙂
Small church, limited technical capability, Andrews' videos have been perfect for me to grasp the big amount of data. Bless you.
So glad I can provide you with some helpful resources :)
This is the best, most concise and to-the-point instructional video on the X Air Edit program. Thanks for doing such a great job!
Happy to oblige.

Thank you so much for this video. Helped my church (Christ Temple Family Church) out TREMENDOUSLY.
Excellent :)

This is by far the best overview I've found on how to use the XR18. Thank you for making and sharing this video!
Cool. Glad you liked it :)
This is a great video, belated thank you for uploading.
Amazingly straightforward and useful introduction to this program. Thank you, Andrew!
Glad you found it helpful ☺️

Good instructional overview. Thank you!
I'm glad you found it useful.
I have a an old laptop with Windows XP installed. Can I install the X Air Edit program on it? And where to find the download file for XP?
Great job, only pitty for the minor video quality (blurred areas)
Sorry you had trouble seeing it. Sometimes that's a function of the Internet kicking up a fuss.
Is X Air Edit available for iPad??
This seems much better than the X Air app available from the app store
There's a separate app for iOS and Android vs the X Air Edit for computers. I don't believe the full program is available for mobile devices.
@AndrewBellous Is the computer the only way to get full access like this? I can't seem get into this menu. Awesome video btw! Much love! ❤

Awesome tutorial! Thank you!

brilliant ! has their refresh rate improved since this video? it lags very badly
I only had access to this device for a short time while working at a church where I was installing one. I don't know what's currently happening with them.
@@AndrewBellous thanks Andrew, it is fantastic now since they updated their software, i bought one - no refresh issues.

how do you assign channels to DCA Groups?

How can I get x air edit for my iPad
The Behringer download page no longer seems to support the XR18. Not sure where else you'd find it, sorry.
great job, just what i needed!
Glad I could help :)
can anyonre share the x air edit application download for mac as it is no longer available anywhere
Go to: www.behringer.com/downloads.html
and then choose - Mixers: Digital Stage Mixers: All: XR18: Software: Mac

I no longer have access to the board to redo it, but thanks for your suggestion. I did the best I could with the time and resources available.

I've only just found this video: I've created and saved a default scene that has all 18 channels set to the initial 'blank' settings.
does it have any midi-learn function for midi-mapping of every parameter on any hardware controller?
I never really tried that out. Not sure.
@@AndrewBellous someone knows?

There does seem to be an updated version on the website.

How and when do you set the FX return slides? and what is the function then of the FX return master slide?

Any compressor should do that, as long as the threshold is set properly. Hugs back to ibiza :)
Thanks for this , but an example would be great for each control, thanks
Sorry, I no longer have access to this device so I can't make more videos.
Great job

Faders, not sliders : )
Yeah... I know. Hard habit to break.
Faders!
Yeah. I know. I slip up all the time and call them sliders.
Well, that's one ugly UI
Yup. But it works.
