I like that the Technomancer isnt just a nerfed Wizard. Its a well-rounded character by itself and still be high tier. The most notable thing I focus on is that a level 20 Technomancer can use Wish up to 3 times PER DAY while a level 20 Mystic can only use Miracle once PER WEEK.
I have been waiting for this video since I heard about the Technomancer. This is excellent. Informative without being boring. Look forward to hearing about the spells.
you prolly dont care but does anyone know a tool to log back into an instagram account? I was stupid lost the account password. I would appreciate any tips you can offer me!
@Jack Davion Thanks for your reply. I found the site thru google and im trying it out now. Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I have a Lashunta Technomancer w/ Int 20, Dex 13 and Cha 18. From what I have been reading Dex is strong secondary attribute for a technomancer . . .is it respectable / enough?
Currently playing a technomancer in my weekly irl, I've been having a lot of fun with boosting my or my teammates weapons, I'm definitely more of a fighter and I tend to rush in so I end up being a glass cannon, I spend the latter half of most combat encounters on the floor but because of the supercharge spell we get a head start in terms of damage. We're still early days (just hit level 3) but I've been really enjoying it
I was deciding between Technomancer and Operative, went for the latter. I didn't actually understand the bonus spell bit (thanks for that!) so I though you only got 2 level 1 spells to start which seemed SUPER weak. Still just shooing spells and hacks every now and then just didn't seem to interesting me. Not to mention none of the spells sounded super interesting/powerful and I didn't want to a magic focused character so much. The lack of spell diversity compared to D&D was shocking to me. The tech/magic world is such fertile territory.
Hi, I'm making my first starfinder character, and I've only ever played 5e until now. What two first level spells would you recommend to start out with?
It depends on what kind of character you're going for. If you're planning to do a lot of damage using weapons, supercharge weapon is great. If you need a lot of item move actions (for example, to boost a weapons damage like the agitator) helping hands is great. If you want to cast spells that damage and debuff your foes, incompetence and verdant code are great. Ask your DM if he'll let you throw a datapad/comms unit at enemies to cast verdant code at them.
Fabricate Arms is unfortunately a terrible magic hack as written. It takes a full-round action to create the item (which means you aren't getting to use it in the round you create it, or do anything else), and it only lasts a few rounds. It doesn't let you create expendable items or ammo, so you need to have the ammo on hand for any weapon you create, and usually spend even more actions to load the weapon. You can only create armor on yourself if you weren't wearing armor in the first place, and walking around without any armor sounds like a terrible idea. And the item you create isn't even that great because it's item level can't be higher than your caster level (while, in my experience with organized play, you typically try to have a weapon and/or armor that is your level +1, and are allowed to purchase weapons and armor of up to your level+2 if you can afford it). It's unfortunate, because on the first read I was super excited about the idea, but on a more careful read I was like, "oh, this is total garbage."
Ok just started Starfinder last wk and will be playing again tomorrow but let me see if I got this my level 1 Shirren Technomancer has a 17 in his intelligence score so his bonus level spell for first, second, and third are 1 does that mean that I gain additional spell slot for my first level spells so I have 3 spell slots instead of 2? Sorry just trying to clear this up
Hi i'm very new to DnD and friend told me i should make a campaign i was and still am super excited about it but i'm having a bit of trouble with how to make my idea work if you can help me i would be happy to hear any advice.
i`m a bit sad you just skipped the additional "spells per day section" and simply gave us the page, since i`m having trouble with this one. at lvl 5 our technomage got int of 21 which would theoretically allow him to cast lvl 4 and 5 spells, of which he doesnt know any. so he decided to convert them to lvl 3 slots, which gave him 5 lvl 3 spells, which he then used to massacre entire armies of enemies in a matter of seconds(using an aoe lightningbolt spell)... as i`m playing a soldier i`m kinda frustrated since its the only thing im theoretically better at. yeah... theoretically. i kill 2 enemies in about 5 or more turns, meanwhile he defuses a bomb, murders half a dozen dudes and smokes a pack of cigars D: is he rightfully converting these 2 spellslots or shouldnt he be able to until he reaches a lvl high enough to know about lvl 4 and 5 spells? sorry for my awful long ass text :)
No, bonus spells only apply to levels of spell already known. Same as pathfinder. You must also be confusing something else, as he has no lvl 3 spells at all. At 5th he has at base: 6 lvl 0 cantrips, 4 lvl 1, and 3 lvl 2. And then one extra bonus of each lvl 0, 1, and 2 due to his intelligence. He has *0* level 3 spells. www.aonsrd.com/Classes.aspx?ItemName=Technomancer It’s totally game-breaking kind of “mistake” (or cheating)
Hey! Damage is damage. Even by the time you get to level 11 to get the Eternal Spell hack. Magic Missile still have its uses....even though it is an extremely underwhelming spell...screw it. I am house ruling it to be more useful. I cannot see why the spell cannot target objects. If that is what the caster wants. After all. The spell works if the caster can see the target. Maybe the caster wants to shoot out a few lights that are in separated but close enough for the spell to work. And why not use them to go skeet shooting!? *shrug*
In 3 years I hope someone told him you put a MAGAZINE in a gun. Not a CLIP. Clips are for really old guns that held ammo that assisted putting the ammo in the weapon. A magazine is inserted into a weapon until it is done. Like an ar or ak or any semi auto handgun or rifle now. Pheew!!! What a dumb rant. When you go buy your gun remember that. It may save you money
Kinda hard to convince myself to play this cuz it feels really unprofessional... It's the same reason I chose DND over pathfinder. I've never liked Paizo's mechanics, writing style, aesthetics, or lore. It's not bad, just feel like it can't jive with it and idk why. Though I respect Paizo for their content amount.
I definitely enjoyed it, but it's a bit too long for my taste. Rather than doing one 17 min video, I'd recommend doing a 6-9 min one on the basics and then another talking about the higher levels. I frankly skipped past some of the higher level stuff because my guy is level 1.
Shadowrun did it better. Technomsncers should be about hacking and controlling technology not casting magic missile. I don't understand why all d20 based sci fi games keep getting that wrong. Paizo should have taken the time to create something unique not just another sorcerer.

I like these videos, they are much easier to process than the book itself.
I have been waiting for this video since I heard about the Technomancer. This is excellent. Informative without being boring. Look forward to hearing about the spells.
Hey Cody,
Good job on putting enthusiasm into all of these videos and releasing them almost perfectly on schedule.
Appreciate ya.
you prolly dont care but does anyone know a tool to log back into an instagram account?

@Jaime Richard Instablaster :)
@Jack Davion Thanks for your reply. I found the site thru google and im trying it out now.

@Jack Davion It did the trick and I actually got access to my account again. I am so happy!
Thanks so much, you saved my ass!
@Jaime Richard happy to help :)
Thanks for all your hard work in creating these videos. Great information
looking forward to more great content. Just made my player last night with 5 others and our DM in group. really excited. thanks!!!

Sounds like the Doctor Doom class.
Really great work ! Thanks for all you Starfinder video ! I hope you'll go for short video explaining Ship combat for exemple :)
Thanks! It's on the list! #Promise
Love how detailed these vids are...Starfinder just doesn't seem revolutionary, though...
Thanks Hank. Glad you dig em.
More starfinder please!! Really like the videos!
Any chance of more starfinder content any time soon? Or does your experience with pathfinder 2.0 also apply to starfinder?
How easy is it to update 5E rules to Starfinder rules?
Nolan Bond from what I've read it helps to be a little familiar with Pathfinder but it isn't necessary.
Pure cyberpunk and it fits perfectly ❤❤🎉🎉
You're talking some deep science in this video.
Has anyone tried the Battlemage build out (From the core book). If so what are your thoughts on this build?
I was deciding between Technomancer and Operative, went for the latter. will you being running a campaign for Starfinder?

Even more disappointing, it's fabricate ARMS, not fabricate ARMS
Still trying to figure out how to give a kasatha even more limbs :(
Do Spell cache need to be purchased?
Is there a monster manual for this game?
Noximus Jamaicanus Not yet, it's due by the new of October.
It'll be called the alien archives
You can find a scan of a book called First Contact on /r/starfinder_rpg

I too am just getying into the CRB and i plan on rolling a mechanic. I havent decided whether to pick the exocortex or the drone atm
Lashunta (for psychokinetic hand at will) technomancer. Enhance telepathy. Fabricate Arms (for plasma sword). Telekinesis. Unseen Servant. Jedi. Success!
Hi i'm very new to DnD and friend told me i should make a campaign i was and still am super excited about it but i'm having a bit of trouble with how to make my idea work if you can help me i would be happy to hear any advice.
ian Espinoza What is your idea?
Sounds similar to a techomage from b5
I like this cool RUclipsr!
Do technomancers have to prepare their spells ahead of time?
no
What are resolve points? Were they in pathfinder or are they new?
new. they let you do certain powerful abilities as well as help keep you alive
How does miracle and wish work since both casters only have 6 magic levels
You clearly know your shit, it's awesome thanks for the vids. Bomonro
ok, am I crazy, or is the volume for all of Cody's videos below normal. I find myself needing to boost the sound a lot when watching his stuff.

this is years late but your friend both would've had 19 INT and level 2 spells max possible 😂
starfinder gives level 3 spells at 7th level

hey Cody, I see you've been wearing that shirt every day for a week. Come on, man.... lol
Ha! #ShootInBunches
@@Taking20 it's a uniform!
I doubt that was 28 videos...
There are 14 more in production at the moment.

Brian Stell intriguing
That's interesting, because I've always felt that way about WotC's material. Different strokes for different folks, I suppose.

Hmm, not very helpful to a new player who doesn't understand your metaphors.

Paizo should have taken the time to create something unique not just another sorcerer.
That's what Technomancers are about. They're optimal as a buff/support class and their options for interacting with technology are really quite good.
