For Princess Diana’s first Royal Tour, Charles & Diana went to Australia and then New Zealand. Accompanying them was baby Prince William. Diana herself described the gruelling six-week tour as a baptism of fire. Though it would ultimately prove a major success for the Royal image beneath the surface there was trouble already brewing between the newlywed couple. Diana-mania gripped the crowds down under and the frenzy to see the new royal superstar were like nothing seen before. The initial thrill of it all began to fester into jealousy and disdain.
