When you change the clutch cover out and when you install the gear assembly, make sure the three dots are showing to the outside of the assembly. Hold tight to this as you put them back in the tractor. Now, grab the fwd, rev. lever and engage the clutch and push the tractor by hand to make sure the clutch is going to hold. If you don't get a grab, pull it back out check it again. Don't put the front cover back on and find out it won't operate. I think it is on page 49 in the service manual?

1972 Commercial 10hp tractor. I just replaced the front clutch and now have no forward or reverse drive. I put a clutch in it 10 years back and had no issues. Won't proceed in any speed. Pto is okay. What did I do wrong. I had the long shaft out at one point. Did something move back up in toward the engine?
Well the long shaft is in righ otherwise the pto would not work. Check the play in the forward reverse lever at the trans. If to much play something could be worn in the clutch assembly. Take it apart again and look in the service manual to make sure it's put together right. Please keep me posted and good luck.
