You guys ding the economy mode for making the car slower, when fuel efficiency is the whole point of that feature. Silly criticism...

  • @AznSensAsians
    @AznSensAsians 9 лет назад +88

its so annoying how everyone just goes on and on about "omg its so slow, it feels like it cant do anything"....its a honda civic give me a break. you're not reviewing the SI. and yes you do acknowledge that it is a commuter car, but cmon a buyer shouldnt be looking at this car if they want to have fun and go fast so its really annoying to keep hearing everyone linger on the "slowness" when obviously its not going to be a speedster

I have a 2012 Civic EX coupe , it has the the same features expect leather and heated seats and I love it. I got it as used car in September 2017 with 41000 miles on it and i can say honestly it’s the best car I could’ve gotten. I love the Bluetooth feature especially for when I’m driving places. Only complain I have is I wish they would’ve included backup camera with it because my dads 2013 Civic lx has it and mines the higher trim vehicle yet it doesn’t contain it. Other than that it’s super fast for when I get on the highway and the mpg is fantastic. I fill up my car every three weeks and it saves me so much money

Aside from a huge tiny minority of "enthusiasts", anybody moving up from a 14 year old Civic into a brand new car is pretty much guaranteed to like the new one. The average person doesn't give two shits about how soft their dashboard or how much steering feel there is. And a 2012 Civic is a more comfortable car, safer, faster, is far more up to date, and likely isn't to be as easily stolen by hoodlums and will atleast go 10 years before falling into the hands of idiot ricers.

Meanwhile, my religiously maintained 2012 EX-L has been nothing but trouble, it feels like 2nd gear is going to grenade any moment now. If I knew this car would start falling apart at the 100,000 mile mark, I would have bought a Hyundai Elantra, or even a Ford Focus with the SelectShit transmission.

@@user-hi8ps5jm8i mainly, the transmission had metal shavings in the fluid at just over 100000 miles (160000 km) meaning it was ready to blow soon. I also think there was a problem with the exhaust, and the paint was chipping well before 100k miles. It was frustrating since all the little things were beautifully intact. I'd say to. keep up on the automatic transmission fluid changes every 30k miles/50k km, and make sure it's Honda DW-1 fluid! The wrong AT fluid *WILL* grenade the automatic transmission.

I know you said the other comment that your car is stock now so my mom has the same car silver she has the 2012 EXL and she got every option on it so essentially it has the SI spoiler has the wheels like the one in the video the SI front bumper rear bumper we just put an SI grill on change the front and rear and steering wheel badges out for the JDM blue ones got her some blue lug nuts blue floor mats some nice blue seat covers and steering wheel cover cuz that's her favorite color she got this car for a commuter car she used to have a 99 Civic SI when I was younger and she was more into going fast
But she's 50 now and not really into going fast but now all of a sudden she wants to get back into it
We just did all those visual things but now she wants to do a cold air intake downpipe full exhaust you know some coilovers and that's about it still keep it her nice commuter car she's had it since brand new only has about 140k on it now
MY QUESTION IS HOW MUCH OF A DIFFERENCE DID IT MAKE WITH THE COLD AIR INTAKE DOWNPIPE FULL EXHAUST???????
I know it's not going to be crazy fast or anything trust me I own a 95 Civic Coupe that's my built track car with the k24 block and K20 head and then also a rare 2004 V6 6-speed Honda Accord coupe with the hfp package with about every mod you can think of
But since my mom all the sudden wants to get back into modifying cars like she did when I was younger and she had to SI from 99 that Coupe that was a b16 and she had intake headers exhaust and take manifold throttle body and many other mods on that car this is still her commuter she takes really good care of it and plans to keep it for a long time but
I just want to ask somebody else who has the same car who's done the mods what they thought of and if it felt decently quicker and more fun to drive with those mods that you did since visually redone every single thing to make the outside into an SI the grill the bumpers fog lights spoiler from the SI has the EXL wheels and EXL interior with the leather I just think it'd be cool to get my mom back into it and those mods I think would make it more fun without messing with the reliability said she's not going to go full blown race car like my Honda's or like we used to back in the day when we were both younger
      Sorry for the long comment

@@seattlejdmcivic Well this was a year ago but if your mother wants more power out of the r18, there's very few things you can do to get any horse power gains before boosting it. Unfortunately those motors don't take power too well either and will max out at 250hp safely according to the forums.

I got my 2012 Lx civic this past april, and I am pleased with it. I was between a mazda 3, corolla, and civic and the civic had a great deal going on that allowed me to get this car. The acceleration is a little lacking, but I feel it is a very good car, I like the ipod integration with M.I.D. I keep the econ on and don't have a problem, the only time is getting onto the highway which I may turn it off, but otherwise I feel this car will last a long time.

And to be honest, a lot of them don’t live up to their design language. Of course the current civic kinda does but ironically, this design to me is more unique now than it was back then while the current design of the civic is just… meh.

We think the new 2012 Camry is a big improvement over the 2011 model for sure. However, after just one year on the market with new entries from Ford, Honda, and Nissan, the vehicle already looks old and stale for us. It's still a solid car and you can probably pick one up for a good price, but it's not very exciting or flashy. Although, most buyers are looking for just that.

There is a substantial difference in interior quality (especially that faux stitched leather in the 2013), not to mention the other bits like the console, storage cubby and the way the car drives. However, all this means is that the 2013 is now competitive...which underlines the fiasco that was the 2012 Civic.

Great review Sofyan. I see you guys are doing better and better everytime. Looking cool as well haha As for the Civic, it's grown to me a little since I first saw it but I still think it needs an update asap, because those uneven lines in the dash are just terrible. But I love the gathered leather in the seats.

Still, the Civic here in the Philippines(which is imported from Thailand) has soft touch door panels! :P

I noticed that as well, I'm not sure if there was something wrong with this particular one or if all of them do that. Didn't sound very pleasant tho...

Everyone bashes on Civic’s. Is it s good first car? I’m kinda second guessing on getting one

Ruben Monroy first car? Absolutely. Not insanely fast so you can’t be dangerous, amazing visibility, very safe with all the airbags and comfy!!

Youre reviewing from the aspect of someone whos owned the previous generation, that makes this a biased review. It gets awesome gas mileage, will last forever, and is almost guaranteed to have the best available selection of aftermarket parts out of any car in its class. Plus you can get one waaaaaaaay cheaper than a Focus. I challenge anything in its class to a 10 year follow up review. Just an FYI, the trunk popper button on the key fob is available on all models LX and up (3:13)

well yeah totally, lol. It lacks power to my 98 accord, but she was mentioning the difference between Econ on and Econ off. And having driven the 2013 Civic with and without Econ mode on, I must say the car feels a lot more dead and less fun to drive.

I have a 2012 civic as well and I've noticed that nasty sound as well it only shows up when your gas pedal is floored and at 5500rpm+ has anyone found the problem to it?

I would rather have a 2006 to 2007 Accord. Hondas quality was so much better. The 2008 to 2012 accords had bad interior quality. While my 2008 Accord was in the shop they gave me a 2016 Civic LX. And it had no power. The quality of the interior was pretty good. But from what I’ve seen 2007 to 2012 Civic wasn’t very good quality. A friend of mine had a 2007 civic hybrid. She said she could put her foot to floor and nothing would happen. And the front bumper cover just fell off randomly. I think Honda upped their game in the civic and the accord in 2013.

Need advice anyone please??? I can't decide between a 2012 Scion Tc auto, 120k miles or a 2012 Honda Civic LX w Manual Transmission, 88k miles. I like the idea of a Honda with lower mileage even though it's slow and not sporty look. The Tc is faster as far as hp goes and looks better than the Civic LX but the 2 doors might make car insurance higher. I just want a fun daily, driver car and yes, I considered a Civic Si but they're out of my budget and most are high mileage or heavily modded. Let me know your thoughts??? Thx

    wow I feel lame.
Great update on the longevity for this car. I am considering the Accord but I think I will wait for DI Acura motors with hybrid systems as I plan to purchase an MDX or TL when I am done with college.

because the cars faults aren't that visible in the 20 min test drive, and most dealerships frown when u take a brand new car for day and put 650km on it...

You do great reviews. I am still disappointed in the civic I think, even the 2013. we have an accord now, and the 2013 after the CVT proves itself a yaer or so, is going to be the choice. I was hoping to go back in to the civic now that the kids are out of car seats, but there are many many things disappointing about civic that can only be had in the accord. Funny thing is, a loaded up civic is about the same price as an ex-l accord, and mpg isn't THAT different!

  • @ehcivicracer

The transmission plays a big role in speed. It seems like the gears are too long and bogs everytime it shifts. I had a 94 civic si hatchback and it was slow and rides like crap compared to my 04 civic lx. Just bought a 2013 civic lx and it is way better than the 04 LX. Power speed is light years better than my old 94 SI. Tq is better than 04LX. Road noise has dramatically improve from the 5th and 6th gen civics. I also owned a 06 civic SI. On the 2013 LX with EOn on it doesnt feel too bad.
