- The Dealers playing "The Well Below The Valley" at The Neptune, during Broadstairs Folk Week, 13th of August 2008. According to Cristy Moore this could be the oldest surviving song written in the English language.
A more traditional version, sung by a priest at a wedding features on the film, "The Magdalene Sisters".
The song is about a pub. The landlord's daughter has never been in love, but has given birth to six babies, fathered by various members of her family. The children have died, and are buried in the pub. For her sins, the girl is sentenced to burn in hell.
This totally innovative and awesome version by the Dealers is as relevant today as it has ever been.
This is awesome. Plays in my head for days afterward:o) I love this song
5 stars, favorited! congratulations!!! a GREAT SONG AND AN ABSOLUTELY AMAZING PERFORMANCE! Greetings from Greece....
I really like this version, very hypnotic ...
Fantastic version of this song. It's even better if you see this band live (which I did on Saturday). Very atmospheric and passionate.
this is fantastic!
Thanks. I think they're planning on including it on their next album. SHould be released in time for the Broadstairs folk festival.
Thanks
I'm jealous. Was hoping to get to Gravesend this Saturday, but it didn't work out. Hoping to see them at the Canterbury Festival early October.
fuckin sweet moves on the guitar banger man!! haha
Cheers for that. I'll try and find out where in the bible the story is mentioned.
geile version. wo ist dieses pub? ich brauch mal urlaub
crazy good voice!
Laugh. One of Pierre's songs is called "The Sign" and is about wishing that women had a sign so that he could tell if they were interested or merely being polite. Think you well and truly have the sign.
Sadly, he's now got a very lovely steady girl friend.
