      Jasmina, I cannot imagine a more generous comment thanking me for my videos. I am so very encouraged by your kind words and appreciation. You make me very glad I have made them. All the best with your drawings, and if you have any friends who draw you could tell them about my channel, that would be helpful for me. 😀

    that "diagonal to find the mid point" is pretty useful.
    Thanks

      That’s great. Usually I just do it by eye, but occasionally that is more difficult to do and it’s great to have this sort of tip as back up for those times. 😀

    This is excellent, I don't suppose you could explain this as well for foreshortening animals?

    Is there a way to ensure each window is 100% properly spaced as it goes towards the horizon line beyond just "doing my best"? I know how to do this with repeating windows that are next to eachother, but not with gaps inbetween. (x over center of first window, draw line from X center to horizon line, cross top corner of first window through center line that intersects with outer wall of first window, draw new vertical line for next window) How would I do this for gaps? Thanks in advance.

      I’m sure there is a complex formula which could explain the degree of foreshortening exactly, but it would be too complicated for me to understand. I draw the spaces between the windows as much as I draw the windows. Careful observation is the way to an accurate drawing of foreshortening. And I pay careful attention to the mid point in both the reference and my drawing. And when I don’t get it right, I carefully work out exactly what I should have done, so I am better prepared for next time. 😀Keep having a go, it will get easier. 😀

    Hi, Stephen, I watched this one , it’s marvellous! Just one question. When you draw that building , did you draw the diagram which you showed us to narrow the windows first ? I guess you did not ,as you have already had that diagram in your mind . Am I right ? I hope I am wrong .😀

      I’m afraid I don’t understand what you are asking me. But I drew the street scene I show days before I drew anything else in the video. Does this answer your question?😀

      @@stephentraversart I mean that diagram on the paper, did you draw it when you draw the building? In other words, the diagram is the first step of this drawing . Sorry for such trouble.

    • @stephentraversart
      @stephentraversart  Год назад +1

      No, I drew the diagram after the drawing. But, of course, I already understood the principle when I drew the drawing. I just did the diagram to make it clearer in the video 😀

      This is not really within my experience I’m afraid, and I think the best presentations of it would be in digital form, which is definitely not my area. Hope you find it somewhere. 😀
