      Because the 737-900 is so underpowered they have to push the engines harder and you get a better sound.

    Hello I am travelling in the 27th of July from Newark to Fort Lauderdale and I would like to know if the 737-900 had AVOD with movies, TV programs and music on demand? Very nice video!

    • @TheAviation98
      @TheAviation98  10 лет назад

      No, the 737-900's do not have AVOD but some of them have live TV programming. Thanks for watching!

    The CFM56 are nice, they should have used them for the MD-90.

    Certainly is rare to see 22L/4R used for takeoffs. I just flew out of Newark last week and we took off from 4R because 4L was closed for construction.

    Are those the same engines that are on the KC-135R and some DC-8's?

    • @TheAviation98
      @TheAviation98  9 лет назад

      Yes, to my knowledge the engine is the same type on both, CFM International CFM56.

      Gor 39 seconds from maxing thrust to liftoff; not the worst but still quite long. Needed just over 7,000 feet of the runway.

    The -900 really is a dog compared to other 737s, as evident in this video.

    • @TheAviation98
      @TheAviation98  9 лет назад

      Yeah it really is. Thanks so much for watching!

    • @ecoRfan
      @ecoRfan 8 лет назад

      Not much different from a -800 from what I can tell. But a dog compared with the -700 and especially the 757-200.

    • @jeepxjdude2000
      @jeepxjdude2000 8 лет назад

      -900s are notorious for their poor takeoff and climb performance when heavily loaded. They've even been known to tip back and rest on their tail when sitting at the gate if they're too heavily loaded in the rear.
      Basically Boeing has stretched the 737 to the limit. Still perfectly safe, but it definitely can't get any longer.

    • @ecoRfan
      @ecoRfan 8 лет назад

      I'm not sure how heavy this flight was; 22L is slightly shorter than 22R and this one needed just over 7000 feet to liftoff. Had the runway been a bit longer, it probably would have rolled longer too. Some transcon flights have needed over 8000 feet to get airborne with the 800 or 900. Even 2-hour flights need over 7000 feet to get airborne which is pretty sick.

    Why is this a rare takeoff

    • @TheAviation98
      @TheAviation98  10 лет назад +1

      At Newark, it is extremely rare for planes to takeoff from Runway 22L. They takeoff either from Runway 4L or 22R like 98% of the time. This was only because Newark's main takeoff runway was closed and under construction at the time.

    • @ekweseman
      @ekweseman 10 лет назад +1

      So that means Runway 22L is used mainly for landings.

    • @TheAviation98
      @TheAviation98  10 лет назад

      Yeah 22L or 4R are the main for landings, but sometimes you might catch a few that also land on Runway 29 or 11.
