Studio Knit Hi Kristin! Would it be possible to work this in the double stockinette stitch rather than the regular stockinette stitch? I would like to use this on a stole that I would then use for intarsia knitting.
I’m not sure if this will help anyone, but since the video and the pattern online show different numbers for the P17 or P19 - I just continued the pattern but continued to use the P19 in its place like the video instructed. And from ROW 11 on the video I think I went to ROW 13 on the online pattern as it matched what I thought would would come after last row I had done. This worked for me, so maybe it could help someone else too - I was very confused at first and there were few answers in the comments about it. I am not an amazing knitter but even if it helps one person I’m glad it could make it easier for someone.
I'm an absolute beginner and following your instructions and watching the video twice, made making this a breeze. Thanks for the tutorial. I was looking for something sweet to make for my soon to be born niece. Enough of these will make a beautiful rug.
I used this heart pattern on a baby dress knitted from the top down, so I tried a swatch that reversed the heart stitches so they would be the right way up. It worked! Here are the reverse stitches if anyone else wants them: Row 1: K6, YO, K3TOG, YO, K3, YO, K3TOG, YO, K6 Row 2: K 2, P 17, K 2 Row 3: K5, YO, SSK, K1, K2TOG, YO, K1, YO, SSK, K1, K2TOG, YO, K5 Row 4: K 2, P 17, K 2 Row 5: K4, K2TOG, YO, K4, YO, SSK, K3, YO, SSK, K4 Row 6: K 2, P 17, K 2 Row 7: K5, K2TOG, YO, K7, YO, SSK, K5 Row 8: K 2, P 17, K 2 Row 9: K6, K2TOG, YO, K5, YO, SSK, K6 Row 10: K 2, P 17, K 2 Row 11: K7, K2TOG, YO, K3, YO, SSK, K7 Row 12: K 2, P 17 K 2 Row 13: K8, K2TOG, YO, K1, YO, SSK, K8 Row 14: K 2, P 17, K 2 Row 15: K10, YO, SSK, K9
Actually, on second thoughts, it really looks better knitted from the bottom up, as you don't get the nice crisp outline. Slightly better by reversing k2tog & ssks, but still not as nice as the bottom up version. Row 1: K6, YO, K3TOG, YO, K3, YO, K3TOG, YO, K6 Row 2: K 2, P 17, K 2 Row 3: K5, YO, K2TOG, K1, SSK, YO, K1, YO, SSK, K1, SSK, YO, K5 Row 4: K 2, P 17, K 2 Row 5: K4, SSK, YO, K4, YO, K2TOG, K3, YO, K2TOG, K4 Row 6: K 2, P 17, K 2 Row 7: K5, SSK, YO, K7, YO, K2TOG, K5 Row 8: K 2, P 17, K 2 Row 9: K6, SSK, YO, K5, YO, K2TOG, K6 Row 10: K 2, P 17, K 2 Row 11: K7, SSK, YO, K3, YO, K2TOG, K7 Row 12: K 2, P 17 K 2 Row 13: K8, SSK, YO, K1, YO, K2TOG, K8 Row 14: K 2, P 17, K 2 Row 15: K10, YO, K2TOG, K9
I'm knitting several squares in different colours for a blanket, your explanation is easy to follow and the result adorable!! Thank you as always, it's my third project on your channel ( I made the tie in seed stitch for my husband and a dishcloth with your bobble stitch explanation)
Finished the baby blanket...thanks again for this pattern. 10 hearts wide 14 hearts high (140 hearts) made 33"x44" with border. I am really happy with how it came out. Took me 14 days. Pictures on ravelry...Karnesee's heart lace baby blanket.
Hi :) from watching your videos I learned to knit in 3 days. I have made bunny, baby booties, and now working on the lace hearts. Thank you for these videos :)
That was good timing - I was just about to start knitting a bunch of your roses for my friends for Valentine's Day but this lace heart looks so cute! :D
How clever and personal! I bet it is very pretty. I'm glad you are having fun with the process. Too many brides let it turn into a stressful event. The journey is supposed to be joyful and the beginning of a beautiful life. Keep focused on that and all will be fine!
I was trying to follow your tutorial on the lace heart and where do I get the pattern to have you only row 11 and the start on row 20/+where is 12 tob19 rows?
Made your cute little heart/square and loved it. Knit a washcloth sized swatch/test (basically doubled) and added 2 stitches all around (border) rewrote for baby blanket (I hate math) Casting on tonight!!! Cascade ultra pima cotton color Magenta (Awesome) Thanks
I also want to make dish cloth with heart pattern but don’t know how many cast i should put and when to start heart pattern ... please advice .. love this pattern . Thank you
So... the SSK in Row 6 is different from the rest of the SSKs? Your first SSK (Row6), Slip as if to Knit, the rest ( Even Rows, 8-18), Slip as if to Purl, but I still love this little (Large) heart!
Just knit this, and I'm going to glue it to the front of a blank card for the mister. brilliant easy way to make a valentines card more personal. Though I was wondering if you'd post a tutorial on how to knit an actual heart shape. x J.
+Studio Knit Do you have to have a tapestry needle or any needle besides your knitting needles cause I have made some things where you say I need one but I didn't use one btw great design
I am just learning to knit, I was doing great with your video until I cam to Row 11 and then it jumps to 20, prob a dumb question to good knitters lol but what happened to Row 12 and on….am I suppose to go from my Row 11 right to 20? Thanks I am dying to continue
I would love to include this in my blanket however all the squares are 6" by 6", so this is too small. Do you have a larger pattern that would fit this please or is there a way to increase this please. Thanks 😊
love this pattern... desperately trying to turn it into a blanket by changing colour for each heart square in rows which i will stitch together... however each time i change colour the front switches to the back or i can see the colour change stitches on the front... if you wanted to carry on knitting more hearts how would the pattern change /which row would you change colour? new to knitting any help would be much appreciated!!!
love this pattern! I just made one with light pink yarn I had :) anyways, is there any way I could make this pattern a little wider? (so the result would be a little larger) without using larger yarn/needles??
+Carly Hynd Definitely!! You'll have to work out your own pattern to make keep getting the heart wider before it narrows... And that's half the fun!! Or simply add more stockinette stitches on the outside of the heart. Good luck!!
I was wondering, would I be able to make this into a scarf with the hearts at the two ends of the scarf, and if so what should I do? The pattern is too cute~
I really like design but I wish you showed how to do the whole thing in the video but I understand that would have made a really long video. If I wanted to make a scarf with a continuous pattern would I just work up to the last few row and start the next heart, that way there would only be a border on the two ends and the sides? (hope I'm making sense) I also wondered how long it took to make one heart square? Thanks for the video 😊
question for you, when you get to row 3 you say to knit 2,purl 19 knit 2. at the start of the pattern you say to cast on 21 stitches, shouldn't it be 23? I'm new to knitting and think this pattern is cute so before I start I just want to make sure I'm doing it right.
thanks....to make dishcloths is 21 big enough.....I am a true beginner learning from you tube....I am happy I came across your site.....would love to make easy shawl next
Would this work with #4 yarn for a scarf or cowl using # 7 or 8 needles either straight or circular?? I have your little book and I love it! Thank you for everything you do as I’ve learned so much!
+Studio Knit I'm obsessed with the video, so I want make a big blanket. Can I translate the knitting instructions in Japanese and introduce your video in my blog? I would like to start making a big love hearts blanket project which is inspired by you.
Please explain what I'm doing wrong/not understanding.. got through to row 6 all fine done the 10 knit stitch then YO and ssk but then it says just to knit 9 then moves onto row 7.. but I have more than just 9 reimagining stitches on my left needle after yo&ssk?
Your videos are easy to follow but i am struggling from rows 8 onward. Somehow i keep adding stitch and its frustrating. If you have any advice or tips it would he greatly appreciated.
Wait what- if I cast on 21 stitches and in row 3 i purl 19 then only 2 stitches are left to knit right? How am I supposed to knit 4 ( 2 at start, 2 at end )? Am I misunderstanding something?
I just happened to see this pattern and started to knit then I noticed it doesn't compute on the third row: Cast 21 sts K2,p19,k2 =23 sts... Not 21 sts...help me please
are there lace patterns similar to this anywhere, with different shapes? like for example a diamond?? I've been trying to figure how to do it on my own but im having some trouble

Hi Carolyn!! Thanks so much!!!
I was trying to follow your tutorial on the lace heart and where do I get the pattern to have you only row 11 and the start on row 20/+where is 12 tob19 rows?
I love your videos! You are the best! xo
Love this. Made 2 already!
hello, what did you do for rows 12-19?

I really like the pattern, but what happened to the written instructions for rows 12 -19?

Thanks, Crystal!!
this is a very cute knitting project... I like it a lot =)
I really love this one :) amazing
could you explain to me, Im a beginner lol what I do after row 11? Do you just go right to 20 like in the video.. Thanks
Woah ❤️
May I know from which row should I knit after row 11
You made a slight mistake in the video you said p 19, instead of p17
So should I do 17 not 19?
I made a 21 stitch blanket with this pattern
what are rows 11-19?
What about rows 12-19?
Time stamps for SSK: 2:15 and K2TOG: 3:35 (I’m doing this for myself, but you guys can use it too!)
Just knit this, and I'm going to glue it to the front of a blank card for the mister. brilliant easy way to make a valentines card more personal. Though I was wondering if you'd post a tutorial on how to knit an actual heart shape. x J.

I would love to include this in my blanket however all the squares are 6" by 6", so this is too small. Do you have a larger pattern that would fit this please or is there a way to increase this please. Thanks 😊
I have the same request. Do please give instructions for a bigger square.Thank you.
How do I continue it for a scarf? I don’t want to mess up once I started it.
Can you use this as a coaster?
Cool video! Could you do a video about how to untangle yarn if you get a skein of yarn tangled up?
+K. Weaver Thanks! Great idea!
Hi, Laura here. I'm thinking of using this pattern for a sweater, with the lace hearts on the lower edge all the way around.
Could I do this with chunky wool and larger needles? I'll then sew them together to make a nice version of a granny square blanket..would that work?
Can you tell me where the 'description' is?
love this pattern... desperately trying to turn it into a blanket by changing colour for each heart square in rows which i will stitch together... however each time i change colour the front switches to the back or i can see the colour change stitches on the front... if you wanted to carry on knitting more hearts how would the pattern change /which row would you change colour? new to knitting any help would be much appreciated!!!

I want to make a heart so do I double the stitches or change the pattern completely? love the video by the way!! ☺☺☺☺
Thanks!!! I have heart shape video I think you'll love!! ruclips.net/video/38wPBR16xxI/видео.html
I was wondering, would I be able to make this into a scarf with the hearts at the two ends of the scarf, and if so what should I do? The pattern is too cute~
Totally!!! For the last heart, start with the last row of the heart pattern and make the lacy heart holes in reverse. Great idea!!!
+Studio Knit Thanks for the response 💕
شكرا ❤️
I've been trying to increase/decrease stitches to make a circle with straight knitting needles. Is there a way to do it, and can you post a tutorial?
I would love this as a washcloth, but how do I make it bigger size with a bigger heart?
Like the pattern
In the written instructions it says P17. So I think the 19 is a typo.
+J. Lucas perfect thank you!
Yes!!! Total typo on the graphic instructions for the purl rows. Follow the pattern in description and all will make sense. Thanks!!!
+Studio Knit thank you so much! I better get knitting :)
Do you have a pattern for a bigger lace heart square? Cause I really want to make a baby blanket for this but I’m thinking the square is to small?
thanks....to make dishcloths is 21 big enough.....I am a true beginner learning from you tube....I am happy I came across your site.....would love to make easy shawl next
I just made one, and I think it's a little on the small size for a dishcloth. I too am learning from RUclips videos. 😀
Can these be knit from top of the heart to bottom of the heart on the hem of a dress/sweater?
Would this work with #4 yarn for a scarf or cowl using # 7 or 8 needles either straight or circular?? I have your little book and I love it! Thank you for everything you do as I’ve learned so much!
Yes, have fun!
I want to give you ten millions of
Haha, so sweet, thank you!! 💗💗💗
+Studio Knit I'm obsessed with the video, so I want make a big blanket. Can I translate the knitting instructions in Japanese and introduce your video in my blog? I would like to start making a big love hearts blanket project which is inspired by you.

I'm taking this pattern and (hoping) to center it in the pattern for a dishcloth
Yay!!! 💖
Do you have a PDF instructions thingy?? tHAT WOULD BE GREAT if you have one. But if not thanks I love your channel
Your videos are easy to follow but i am struggling from rows 8 onward. Somehow i keep adding stitch and its frustrating. If you have any advice or tips it would he greatly appreciated.
How do u knit rows 11 until 20 please as cant get it to work
Hi! If i want to make it widen into a scarf, how many cast on should i do?
Can you show us how to pull this off, when knitting in the round? 🙂
Do you or anyone else know if there is a crochet version pattern for this
Could you put a link for how to make a bigger square please.. .maybe double the size.
I just wanted to ask that I want too increase the size so should I double the stitches?
+Anum Khan Sounds good. Bigger yarn & needles help, too!! 💗💗💗
I tried to do a sample of this yesterday and the numbers don’t add up.
Wait what- if I cast on 21 stitches and in row 3 i purl 19 then only 2 stitches are left to knit right? How am I supposed to knit 4 ( 2 at start, 2 at end )? Am I misunderstanding something?
Hi Christine I noticed your pattern ends @ 11 then it starts @ 20 I’m a little confused.
is there a way to make square with heart larger Please let me know Thank you
What is the repeat on this pattern with 2 stitches between each heart?
Even with the garter stitch boarder my work keeps curling. 😱 what do I do?
Please tell me how to knit such hearts upside down for raglan? Thank you)
I just happened to see this pattern and started to knit then I noticed it doesn't compute on the third row:
Cast 21 sts

thank you for this pattern btw!! i've made two i love all your tutorials i've learned a lot
Im confused cast on 21 stitches then you k2 P19 k2 =23 ?
Hi, just a little confused, the video says purl 19 but the description says purl 17... which one should I do?
Thank you!
Use the pattern in the description. (video had a typo)
On Row 6, you SSK by slipping stitches knitwise. On Row 8, you SSK by slipping stitches purlwise. 🤔😕 Should I alternate?
Could someone transcribe the pattern for a 40stitch cast-on so that the heart is placed at the top/bottom right/left please?
That might work on a doubled pan-holder. ♻️💭💕 ,as long as it will not burn through. This is not completely new to me.
