I love how quick and to the point your video was. Just an idea for tgtb spelling, let your daughter pick 2 words from that list. They can be extra credit or challenge words. Other than that, pick 4-6 words she's having trouble with in reading. Add in a fun seasonal word or something relevant to her. Say she struggled with the word 'right' and 'cuddle' this week. Make her list: cuddle, right, light, puddle, and school along with the 2 words she picked from tgtb spelling. You can create a word search, have a scavenger hunt or relay race, create a bingo card, or play hopscotch with the words.
This was great!! Thank you for sharing! My kiddos are finishing out the year in public school and we will be homeschooling in the fall! (6th, 3rd, k, 2 yo) we are so excited! I need help picking out a history and science. I would like a study unit for all 3 but I know that’s kinda big gaps.
That's awesome!! 👏🏼👏🏼🎉 I think the Tuttle Twins history book would be great for your 2 bigs! You could definitely do history altogether! A lot of families do science together over big age gaps too, we've only combined 2 kids for science so far (2yrs apart), so I don't have that experience. I think your 3rd grader could still sit in with their older sibling and pick up a lot, but I would want to get a level that's for the 6th grader! We really like science Shepherd and they offer the 2 different level workbooks for the same course's videos!
It's making me feel so much better that we're not the only ones who don't like their spelling! I haven't heard of that one! Thanks for the rec! Woohoo for Tuttle Twins!! That's awesome!
We purchased the Tuttle Twins books and the History book for my 2nd grader for next year! Super excited about it!! My fave spelling curriculum is All About Spelling for sure!!!!
My son uses TGATB level 4 and IEW phonetic zoo spelling which he loves! Edit: he still does the spelling workshop, but I cross out the challenging spelling words part!

WOW!! Great ideas!! Thank you so much for sharing!! We will have to try this!!
Loved watching and seeing your picks!
Yay! Thank you! ☺️ ❤️
When we used LA from TGATB we did Evan Moor Spelling skills instead of the spelling in TGATB. We liked that better.
Good to know! Thank you for the rec! Funny how so many didn't like the spelling piece of TGATB!

Did you ever do G&B math? Do you like math u see better?
We haven't tried TGTB math - we've only ever used MUS, so I can't give a true comparison. Sorry!!
We dropped spelling from TGTB and do Evan Moor instead. That was a MUCH better fit for what we needed!
2 votes for Evan Moor on here! I'll have to check it out! Thank you so much! Glad we're not the only ones searching for a replacement!
We scrapped the spelling list (irregular words) for level 3 this year and we use 180 days of spelling... it works really well with TGTB :)
I'm glad I'm not the only thinking this! Ok cool! I haven't heard of that curriculum - I'll have to check it out! Do you have a video about it? 😉
Any favorite spelling curriculums?
IEW Spelling Zoo has worked well for my third grader. We are just going to keep on going for 4th.
@@EricaLucasLoves Cool! I've heard about IEW for writing but not spelling - I'll have to check that out! Thank you!
We love TGATB but have always hated their Spelling, we skip it and use Spelling Workout instead. We love the Tuttle Twins to!

Can't wait for Grade 2 curriculum picks ❤❤❤
Thanks, Elena! ❤️ Next Wednesday morning! 😃
@TheJohnsonCrew Can't wait!

That's awesome!! 🙌🏻 such good conversation starter!
Good to know! AAS is taking the lead!

Thanks for sharing that! How interesting! Another for IEW! It's time I check into that one!
In my opinion, TGTB’s spelling is better in LA4. I didn’t care for it in LA3 either. You may want to give it a try 😊
Oh really? Well that's great! Good point - we need to do a more detailed flip through!
We supplement TGTB spelling with Building Spelling Skills by Christian Liberty Press. It’s very open and go and super affordable, like $10!!
Hey Jess!! That's great to know! I've never heard of that one! Thank you for the recommendation!
