I love how Streets of Rage 4's success has brought about some new brawlers. Regardless of whether they're "as good" as SOR4 or not, I hope this wave continues. The brawler genre needs a Renaissance!
Yep, it's amazing since beat em ups are some of my favorite genres of all time. We are having a new Asterix game in November and TMNT Shredder's Revenge in 2022...what a time to be a fan of the genre.
People need to stop comparing this game with Streets they are both beatem ups I get it but both are very different, just enjoy the rise of the beatem ups because more games will come out like this later on, people also complaining about the price I feel like it’s worth the $20 price tag it’s all hand drawn so it’s something that takes time and it’s not easy Comic book style voice acting and different paths is a plus and I’m sure they will do updates in the future back in the day games were always $60 for the most part this generation doesn’t appreciate it nothing 😂
Have you tried their 2.0 air supremacy update? Apparently that's given the game OTG's, better air combos and higher juggle states, seems like the combat system is getting better, maybe the game can fix its problems overtime to become a decent alternative?
there's promise here but when you've got a game like SOR4 on the market...You're at a big disadvantage already. the branching paths are a cool touch. the characters are very well drawn in their static images, almost like something out of Image Comics back in the day...and I'm sure there are a few unlockable characters that may offer up different gameplay but from what i saw...it was just okay. it's missing something but it's not easy to say what that exact something is. i liked level 6 the most out of this playthrough because i felt it offered something different from the previous 5 levels. the boss fight on the talk show set was an interesting change of pace...
Trouble is the best in the game. Best forward special, can be used to counter bosses special and damage them while avoid getting hit. You can infinite Boarman with this, and Lady Vermin
I love Streets of Rage 4 but somehow I feel this game is better when it comes to sheer combat.. in SoR4 reaching combo scores is very distracting and that mechanic envelopes the whole feeling of the combat, while in this game combat is more visceral while combos are still rewarding. I love the difficulty in this game as well. What do you think?
I haven't played this since they overhauled the combat, which looks like a huge improvement, but I didn't really like this initial version. I hope the update makes it more comparable to SOR4, at least, since that game is fantastic.
@@tropixx_xlr1549 Juggles are cool but are limited in this game and you can't do as much as SOR4, heck characters like Dolphin can hardly even juggle enemies.
Good game. I wait for the spiritual heir to the Battletoads - Arnold Bounty Hunter. There is a demo in Steam - quite cool, and the characters are charismatic, especially a girl with a katana
Nah, doing full video reviews or something just isn't for me - I wouldn't enjoy any aspect of it. I usually just put my thoughts in the description when I upload a video. (I know that's not as good tho...)

Most of what the lady says it extremely forced. Trying too hard to be hip and #relatable and it is actually cringy, despite how over used I think that word is used. The idea otherwise could have been neat. I like the multiple paths thing It apparently can go in 3 directions at the end? I do like the over dramatic and sad music in the last level

Agreed. Classic 80s/ 90s Brawlers are my favorite genre. I'm glad they are back. I just want more of them, I love the co op
"New brawlers" is one thing but it's the popularizing of fully animated 2D graphics that made it better.

At least, this game has wrinkles that SOR/BK4 never thought off - status effects, multiple paths and an expanding storyline.
Also picking up containers and throwing them.
Really good Beat em up - not quite streets of rage 4 but still worth playing for sure - defo prefer this to the takeover

I agree with everything you said. I enjoy both Streets of Rage 4 and Mayhem Brawler as well and they are quite different in a lot of ways.

the pace of the combat looks slugish, like getting this clear might have been more of a chore then fun ha.

So from reading the description and seeing the gameplay, its like SOR4 and Fight n Rage had a baby.
I see juggle combos, so that's a definite plus for me.

This game is based on a card game, according to the creators. They intend to develop that game in the next years.

The enemies are too slow on the attack and take too long to beat up. This game looks like it could much more fun with a serious gameplay update.
They actually did completely overhaul the gameplay recently! I'd like to check it out again since it looks a lot more fun now.
