- Today we will look at metal tracks from Masterclub. This video is a little longer than I expected, but I demonstrate assembly of a Panzer III / IV type track and also a King Tiger type track. There are some differences in my assembly method between these tracks due to the different sizes.

I assembled a set of Masterclub tracks for the Object 279 and they went together perfectly. Not sure how the resin pins will hold up against heavy mud weathering though, they feel kinda fragile.
Just bought some tiger 1 tracks from MC and that’s something I’m thinking as well.
Thank you Martin! I hope you are recovering well. I may do a quick test today on how the pins will act with burnishing fluid and the like. Also, doesn't an Object 279 use two sets of 2 tracks :P bet that was fun!
You made me reconsider Masterclub tracks, since i wasn´t impressed by their Metal Panzer III tracks. The resin pins are just not for me, they also don´t take the weathering process too well unfortunately. I ended up replacing them with normal wire and that is fine i think. There is another set of their tracks in my stash and i will give it a second try and see if it works any better for me :)
Yes I think I'll have to paint these rather than burnishing, or maybe both.

I really enjoy your videos. I haven't built 1/35th scale kits in many years but I can still enjoy the hobby watching your content, as well as so many other creators that take the time to share their passion, so thanks for that! I do wonder, though, if any manufacturers are out there making snap together plastic tracks. It would seem a glaring hole in the marketplace if that's not happening. These things look like a tremendous pain in the butt.
A few kits do have "click-together tracks", such as the Tamiya Char B1 and Bronco Pz II D. But it's sadly very rare.
This metal tracks looks amazing !. On Panzer3 track, I see factory code ? molded on the track !

Hey. Welcome back! Those tracks look great, and your advice is excellent. But, I'm always hesitant to spend the money on metal tracks. I'd rather dedicate my cash on Alpine figures...
Many kits these days don't even require metal tracks. I only use them when I need a specific type not offered in the kit.

I used to sell these tracks. they are amazing and imho the best after market tracks money can buy.

I bought a set for my King Tiger and what i did is that I went through all the pins after assembly and added a tiny amount of CA glue to their side to hold them in place. That stopped them from falling out.
I have experience with 3 sets of Masterclub (for kv, t-34 & t-55). I’m less positive about them. All 3 of them need drilling. The resin pins may be fine for narrow pz iii tracks, but not for wide kv tracks. They began to fall apart when i gave them heavy weathering. So my next metal tracks will be only pre-assembled by sector35;)
Yeah, in that case I would probably just use friul wire or something. But if they require drilling then it's not even worth it...

We stock them here in the UK whare are you from mate? If your from the UK our supplier is Historex agents they have every kind you could want we got a load of winterketten on osketten in and some winterketten for the hetzer in. Hell of alot better than fruils! The detail is 100 times better!but yeah if your from the UK just go to Historex agents online you'll get them in 2 days than 4 month's bud! We put an order in on Monday and have them by Wednesday night for customers orders! Hope this helps.woth master club's tracks

But I don't assemble it yet. So, this video should be very useful for me and many modelers. Probably, Friul will be the most expensive metal track

Long time now new video. Your very trusting of eBay and Russia, I wouldn't dare lol. I was wondering if you get a minute if you could check and see if your Vallejo Panzer Aces Old Wood 70.310 is a similar color to Citadel's Zandri Dust? I found a source on the internet that said this is so. I compared mine and it is a match to the Zandri Dust, however I'm skeptical because your Old Wood seemed very light from your previous videos where you paint the German tool handles. Thank you.
Great review. I`ve just purchased my first Masterclub Metal Tracks kit for Soviet T-20 Komsomolets. I`ll use Your advice.
I first purchased their Panther ausf.A late tracks and had no major issues . I applied a tiny amount of Tamiya thin cement and applied auto primer then relevant shades using Tamiya XF colours. I purchased a set of Tiger 1 late prod. tracks and again same as the Panther set no major issues same painting method etc. . I have a set of Pz.III/IV open horn tracks for a Tamiya fruhe Stug III G and hopefully will have no major issues. Personnally I quite enjoy this brand and will purchase more before prices go up. Another great video look forward to the next one.

Panzermeister, recently i made tracks for King Tiger and first of all i was shocked with quantity of parts (because a had normal track with plus two small metal connectors) and how put them together. here my sequence of construction
1 cut wire about 1cm long
2 connect main (big) pieces of tracks by pushing wire to middle
3 connect small connectors with resin pins and glue same
i even enjoyed process, not hard at all
I've tried a set of these for a Tiger. Went together much easier than any experience with friulmodel. Burnished and weathered up with no issues. The only thing I had to do extra was paint the pins to blend in with the burnished metal, as they burnishing fluid obviously doesn't change the resins colour. Would prefer these over friulmodels tracks

I had a terrible time with a late set of Tiger I tracks .. all the tracks were bent .. had to try and get them straightened to line them up and the pins were flying left right and center.. still have a few sets of panzer III -IV tracks to try but am not looking forward to them ... but seeing that it can be done ... I'll try and get these old sausage fingers to work right .lol
They Panther tracks, in that size but maybe in solid silver, would make a stunning bracelet for the tank enthusiast

Just run the wire through, and snip, weathering and paint will cover the cotter pin, I don't see them in pictures of the actual vehicles.
I have built many, many of these tracks and I have never had this experience with the wrong stuff inside...
And in general I recommend them. Except for extremly small tracks like Marder I.

Hi Panzer , just going over your excellent review of Master club metal tracks with resin pins as I have just received a set for my Takom Panzer V G early , do they take burnishing fluid as other metal tracks do ?

Hello Edward. I have not yet burnished these myself but people I asked online always said they take burnishing fine. But the pins will stay in resin colour so you'll have to give those a quick lick of paint. Cheers!

@@Panzermeister36 to Thanks Panzer, you're absolutely right , main concern from AK' Burnishing fluid video was that the fluid would not affect the Resin pins , which it doesn't , obviously the pins don't take up the burnishing effect , and to complete " the look" may need a lick of paint 🎨 !

Hi Panzer , ? for you re resin pins on above MasterClub tracks , which I purchased a month ago and have just started to assemble .
You mention cauter pin 📍 heads and flat pin heads one on each side of the track.
Mine came in two separate bags , but apart from a very slight difference in size , both pin heads look exactly the same !!
No difference what so ever ( Panzer V Ausf. G)
I have made up set of ten as you suggested but because there doesn't appear to be a difference , two different pin tops , I have done both sides, and it appears fine !
Have they dropped the cauter 📌 pinhead for ease of manufacture !
Does it make any difference providing you keep the sides separate ?

I'm not sure! Your set might be different for an earlier version of the track (yours is 1942 while my tracks were 1943-44), or it might be an error or simplification. I can't say for certain.

There's a definite difference in pin head size , the ever so slightly larger one having a ⭕ printed on it , need a magnifying 🔍 glass to pick it out , however providing it stays where it's supposed to , so what !
Took me a bloody hour and a rise in my blood pressure to do the ten , you make everything look so easy Panzer .

Hi Panzer , yet an other question re Master club tracks with Resin pins - having completed both sides for my Takom Panzer V G with Zimmerit ( 87 / side am I right) there very fiddley , not sure I'd go thru it again !
Now Andy's hobby shop u- tube videos show him using staples , there square an so not inclined to slip out after insertion, however the holes look very small to me for staples - are they standard world wide ,looks like a cool idea !

What type for Pz III J Stalingrad?
MTL 35008 should be the appropriate set.

I notice on the K/Tiger tracks (where you had to use CA glue to retain the resin pins in place) that you applied the CA glue to the ‘leading edge’ of the pins, rather than only applying it under the trailing edge ‘head’ of the pin. A bit difficult to judge from the video, but is there any danger that the CA could enter the hole in the adjoining link hole, and cause a ‘frozen’ joint?
Your links all seemed nice and free in the video, but just a thought that occurred to me.

As for the pins, I didn't have any issue with CA getting between the tracks or locking anything up. It's not a really tight fit or anything so I imagine the glue won't get forced out and clog up the links. But you're right, it could become an issue.

My experience with Masterclub Tracks are similar to yours. I bought a set of Masterclub for a Merkava i build a couple of years ago and that was my very first set from them. These tracks went together with no problems: no drilling out the holes, very little flesh and Pins also stayed in without the use of CA glue.
Last year i bought a set of T34/85 tracks from Masterclub and my experience was a complete different one! I had to drill out almost every link, had to use CA glue on the pins, was almost like using Fruilmodel tracks. I don't know why that is, maybe because Masterclub is a Russian company and their molds for Russian vehicles are old and used more then others???
I will give it another shot soon, bought a set of Panther G tracks from them for my current project. I just hope the tracks are as good as their PZ3/4 and Merkava tracks.
Yeah, it might be a similar problem to Friulmodel where the molds get old ad the result is flashy tracks. It's a shame, but I hope your next experiences with the tracks are better!
Have you tried using R Model track pins on these tracks yet?
I believe the R Model pins may be too thick for these holes

I mean, with all the advances in molding, is there not an easier, less expensive way to make tracks?

How do the resin track pins stand up to being immersed n track weathering fluid? I assume the track pins will need to be painted to match the weathered metal tacks?
I will be testing that out soon. I expect they will survive without issue since the burnishing solutions are not corrosive and they shouldn't attack the resin. But we will see.

So, what would you say is the best aftermarket metal track?
These masterclub tracks are very good but now hard to get -- they come from Russia. R-Model are my other favourite.

Hello, very interesting video. You referenced a number of different panzer track types and I wonder if you could recommend a good book/publication which details all the different types of panzer tracks? It would be very helpful to have all this information in one place.
The book I use for reference is called "Panzerketten" by Dr. Peter Schwarzmann. In German with no English translation (I use Google to translate), it has lots of photographs and diagrams with production data that I can understand. Its my go to book for German track reference.

Yeah, I didn't really have any other choices though! Shipping to Canada is always painful no matter which country the package is coming from.
Masterclub metal tracks are hands down the BEST and realistic metal track there is.ive had many sets.now bring on the 3D printed sets....
I like them too. But R-Model from China is even better.
@@michaeltiedt6376 those are masterclub copys :) as are nearly every resin figure from that country.two out of 5 sets (metal tracks) i got were made of a type of brass. Unfortunately unable to use them.

I bought some Masterclub track links for the 1/35 Bronco Comet Cruiser Tank. However, I had to drill out all the pin points with a microdrill, and many of the pins were already broken, or broke as I was fitting them. I ended up using the click-together tracks from the kit.
