I am not a native english speaker so I found the manual a bit confusing , maybe that was a language barrier but your video saved my life! 😂😂😂😂 Thank you, it is now assembled in my bathroom! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Have a read through the comments here. Some people have experienced problems with the shelves slipping and some people have managed to fix the problem. Good luck, I haven't had any problem with mine although the previous one did start to rust, which was disappointing although we had it for several years before it got bad enough for my wife to want it replaced. (Obviously I hadn't really noticed) 😆
Glad I could help! Lots of people seem to have trouble with the trays slipping. Mine have stayed in place right from the start with no problems and this video was done in 2018. There are several comments down here giving solutions to slipping trays, I haven't tried any of them because I didn't need to.
Thanks for this! I got mine with no instruction and it was the last one in store so no point me taking it back! Also anyone with slidy shelves, I just used some small rubber/hair elastics, rubber bands would do the same, I think the rings can easily get a bit stretched and then the weight of stuff can slide them down!
Brilliant solution, thank you so much for posting this comment. I haven't had this problem but so many people have commented with that issue that clearly is a problem with some of these. 😍😁👍
Easy fix for the shelves sliding down. I had the same problem. How i fixed it was that I aligned the position of the shelves. I then cut a thin strand of some silver carpet tape and taped over the black washer. The tape was hardly visible once the shelves were pushed down. The shelves don't move a millimetre now. Thanks for the video, helped greatly in assembly.
Hey, thanks for the tip. Mine have stayed in place with no trouble since the beginning, but from all the comments I get here I guess I must have been lucky or they have changed the rubber rings.
Thank you. Glad it helped. You might find some of the information in the comments useful as many people have had problems with this product and other people offered solutions. I haven't had any trouble with it and I didn't have any trouble with the one we had before, other than it had started to corrode a bit in places, so my wife wanted it replaced.
Thank you!!! All of the RUclips videos I searched and yours is the only one that helped me! I went along as you did and finally was able to get it together! Thank you so much!
Thank you, glad it helped. From the comments here, many people seem to have problems with the shelves slipping. Mine are still in place with no trouble, 3 years later, so I cannot explain their problems. Several comments do give their solutions.
@@thaiiswright442 I find it hard to believe the problems people have with this kit. There must be some very substandard versions being sold. This was my second one, the previous one lasted about 8 years with no trouble apart from ending up looking a bit rusty in places so my wife insisted it was replaced. All the parts were supplied and everything worked. Good luck with yours, I hope it lasts as well as mine 😊
Thanks a bunch for the tip to remove one of the bottoms pieces. It was too tall to fit in my shower but we removed the bottom piece and it went in perfectly.
Thank you, Renita. It is interesting how many people have had trouble with the shelves slipping. Mine never slipped and the only reason I replaced the previous unit was that it was showing signs of rust after many years of use, and my wife didn't like that 😆😆 This video is now close to 4 years old and the shelves are still in place. Plenty of people have commented with their fixes, so it will always be helpful for people to read down through the comments here.
Thank you for helping me I got mine new one I was suffering 2 days you helped me and I followed you step by step and I did it thank you I wish you long life and good healthy.
Thank you so much for making this video. You helped me out a ton. I found one of these tension shower rods at a thrift store without box or instructions. Thank you again 😊
Glad it helped. If you look down through the comments here, lots of people seemed to have problems with the parts not locking together and sliding. I have never had that problem, but there are comments with solutions, if that happens to you.
Thank you and good luck 👍 From the comments, people seem to have trouble with these. Mine is still in place in 4 years later, and the previous one only had to be replaced because parts of it had some unsightly surface rust after probably 10 years of service.
My shelves kept dropping down no matter what I tried. I tied an elastic rubber band and it worked. Not ideal for a brand new thing but couldn't waste fuel back to return it.
Did you check through all the comments here? Several people have had issues but worked round them. I never had any trouble with mine and they have lasted for years. The O-rings are supposed to be crushed into position by the internal taper of the tube as you push the shelf down over them. I wouldn't expect rubber bands to work, too soft.
It is interesting how many people have had trouble with the shelves slipping. The little tube in the corner of the shelf is conical on the inside - wide at the bottom - narrow at the top - so as you push it down onto the rubber ring it squeezes the ring as it gets pushed into the narrower end and should jam solid. Mine never slipped and the only reason I replaced the previous unit was that it was showing signs of rust after many years of use, and my wife didn't like that This video is now close to 6 years old and the shelves are still in place. Plenty of people have commented with their fixes, so it will always be helpful to read down through the other comments here.
I am sure you could, but I don't know where you would source a suitable top end. I would think some sort of rubberised ball shape, but even then it may slip.
I am afraid I have no idea. The spring should not be able pass through the narrow section of the pole joints. I can only guess it is the wrong spring? Or do you just mean just the top section tube, which would be right.
Going through the comments here a few people seem to have that problem. Mine are rigid. In fact when I took the old one apart is was quite hard to get the shelf off. The way it should work is the rubber ring gets crushed as weight is put on the shelf (or you push down on it). The inside of the the tube part of the shelf is tapered so as the shelf pushes down the rubber ring is crushed into place. I can only guess the something is allowing the shelf to slide down without the rubber ring gripping long enough to get crushed into place. Maybe they have changed the rubber rings to a harder compound, I can only say I have not had that problem and my shelves are still in place well over a year later (I uploaded this video in October 2018). Are the rubber rings going inside the tube?
I suggest you read down through the comments here. Other people have had that problem and fixed it. I didn't have that problem. The rubber rings that you fit under the shelves should be compressed as you fit the shelf clamping it in place and it works for me, so I am guessing they have changed the type of rubber ring since I did mine 2 years ago.
Hello ☺️ so I’ve just bought this today with the hopes of having it exactly as you do in this video, corner of my bath to ceiling- but as I just read the instructions it says never to use on a bath or shelf and it must be floor to ceiling only- seeing as you successfully did it on the bath I’m thinking it will be okay? What are your thoughts? Thanks so much!
I am 100% certain there was nothing like that in the instructions when I fitted mine. Maybe somebody had a problem so they put a disclaimer in the instructions to cover themselves. I guess it depends on what sort of bath you have and how secure it is. Some baths may not be able to take the stress in the corner or they may not be supported properly. I did this video in 2018 and I was replacing the one that had been there in exactly the same position for the previous 10 years. I replaced it because it was showing signs of rust which apparently is not acceptable to my wife. This one is still there with no problems and it is now 2021.
That is what the spring does. It pushes that top section up. When fully assembled the length of the pole should be higher than you need so when you push it into position it reaches the roof and you force it into place compressing the spring. I show this from about 16:18
I did as well. 😂 It was missing a key end piece. I was able to use another item in its place. Thanks for the video and for responding. I was losing my reserve nerve trying to set this thing up. 😝
@@deannachase glad you managed, it gets very frustrating when people comment with problems that I can't replicate myself so I was really pleased when people found a fix 😍👍
I would guess you didn't fit the rubber rings or they haven't gone inside the shelf unit tube. Once the fitting slides over the rubber ring I find it almost impossible to move it, because it crushes it in place. The shelf fitting is wider at the bottom and the ring slides up inside and gets squeezed in position.
@@karaoketrucker1162 Clearly some people have problems with this. I haven't had that problem so I can't speak from experience or offer further advice. We only replaced the previous one because it had gone rusty, which was unsightly but had been in place just short of 10 years. Getting the old one apart was quite an issue so that one had held together well too.
@@karaoketrucker1162 I just re-read your comment. The rubber rings go on the metal tube. The plastic washer goes over the rubber ring and crushes the rubber ring as you push down on it. It may just be the way you wrote it but the ring goes inside the washer not the washer inside the ring.
I think I was lucky she managed to find one at that price, she has been looking for quite a while. Apparently a rusty shelf in the shower is not acceptable, can't see why not, it still worked.
