@@Grukrimm The SSRIs were a long time ago, so I cannot give you accurate information on that now. The benzo withdrawal was rough, I won't lie. I also did not taper, I cold turkey quit, which a lot of doctors don't recommend. I won't recommend anything, as I don't hold a medical degree (then again the ppl who messed me up DID hold a medical degree, but I digress). Cold turkey, I had minor seizures, felt like an impact drill was against my skull sometimes, and was very paranoid and just... intense. Dialed up to an 11. In all honesty, the taper is probably much less painful. I am benzo free for a couple years now, and doing much better, I will say. I feel emotions properly again, have better relationships with my wife, my friends, my family. Overall I just feel like I never needed meds to begin with.

*"Overall I just feel like I never needed meds to begin with."*
The real problem is that nobody should be on these poisons.
      Ever.
We are told we need these drugs, for having normal human emotions.
And are not informed of the terrible effects (the so-called side effects).

It s not easy, it has to be a slow process over some months, there are times where your brain may feel like burning, some momentary black outs as well, but totally worth it. One year later, I can still confirm that sober life off meds is much much better. I spend much time learning about cptsd here on yt, the only valid diagnosis in my opinion. It s trauma that makes us "need" ssris and little by little healing and managing trauma is what we are supposed to do, to have a more fulfilling life. You can do it💪💪🩷🩷

almost 5 years on antidepressants combined with therapy and I am titrating off. Was on 200mg and went down to 100mg for two weeks. Doctor has left it to me to decide to go to zero or continue like this. I have minor symptoms while coming off, very overwhelming feelings of despair and clammy hands and feet, without the thoughts of "oh god I'm dying", so an improvement. The feeling of feeling normal while on them has given me the muscle memory in my brain to continue this thought pattern hopefully while off. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

My 90 year old Mom is on Zoloft. She is a level 2 or 3 Alzheimer's patient. My well-meaning brother and sister in law are helping my Dad with her. They are great, but why the zoloft? My mom never drank alcohol or took pills of any kind ever. Why? I live far away and hope I can get her off Zoloft. She gets no psych care, it was prescribed by a general family doctor. I ordered 2 of peter breggin's books.

She shouldn't take Zoloft, it doesn't make any sense. My grandma had Alzheimer at a younger age and I know it is hard. I am sorry that, apart from the condition, she has to suffer the lack of respect and compassion of greedy doctors (best case scenario, "unprofessional or incompetent" doctors). Hope you can find someone that can treat her with dignity and just ensure she is healthy physically and not suffering unecessarily. I send her and you strength and luck from the Basque Country.

    • @peachion2
      @peachion2 3 года назад +13

One issue with Alzheimer’s is that the patient experiences anxiety and depression as they realize they are losing capacity. That is why the Zoloft. If she feels fine, don’t assume she will be fine without the Zoloft. If you want, get another opinion. But don’t take it into your own hands to discontinue the medication.
My older sister was on Zoloft after my mom died. She went off for a year, but recently went back on. She is a lot happier and enjoys life when taking Zoloft. She has health issues and is in a wheel chair. And yeah, that can cause periods of frustration leading to depression.
Prescribing Zoloft is not taking her dignity or being a greedy doctor. When someone is facing old age and loss of capacity, they may need help with depression. Medication is created to help. Not hurt.
Depression can be a serious problem for the elderly. They have the right to get relief with medication.

I was forced into a rehab because of new Jersey law and mandatory 72 hours observation and wrongly diagnosed with bipolar schizo effective. My true condition was autism spectrum and intellectual disabilities to which there is no medication that can help. Insomnia set in and I could only get 3 hours of sleep or none at all that made me feel devastated and because I became truly angry at my doctor she also prescribed risperidone and I felt alone even with friends and family. I could not be alone stopped pursuing my hobbies and things I used to enjoy. So I began to taper off them reducing the dosage every week eventually cutting the single pill in half and then quarters, and then I started skipping days to every other day and then 2 days until I simply threw them away. I am under court order to receive treatment and I just lie and the doctor sees nothing amiss and must go through with it until I am off probation and all because I took a walk at night and my symptoms of autism spectrum and intellectual disabilities where making me seem herky jerky in the eyes of the police 🚓🚨.

However sometimes i cannot go back to sleep and i just sit all day so tired ihave no motivation to clean or cook.
So yes im better but my body clock is not wat it used to be.
Granted, on my part, i could take a hot bathvor shower, turn off my phone, and read, drink hot milk, take magnesium but i dont, i just watch yt til my eyes close.
I used to yake naps too. Naos are ninexistent. So im pretty much used tp this new way of being. No the best but definitely not the brutal insomnia i had on zoloft. That was no joke!
I dont wake up in oajc mode either. That may have bee the geodon they had tried me on as well. A tiny noise n my body would wake up in fight flight mode n id be freaked out. I do not miss that at all.

Taper off, see how it goes, if you start suffering again then go to the doctors and explain why it didn't work and the way it was making you feel. I have been in the same situation, I have tried coming off of antidepressants but it's only a matter of time after until the depression and anxiety hit me like a train.
If you are the same as me in that way, keep trying different antidepressants, some will have negative side effects, some will have fewer negative side effects, I am currently trying the fourth type of antidepressant and things are looking great, I am feeling the best I have felt in 5+ years, my sleep is getting better, my anxiety is at an all-time low, you could even say my anxiety is the same as most people's now, relatively 'normal' and I am feeling the most motivated I have ever felt in my entire life and I am still coming off my last antidepressants (In fact, today is the first day I have gone without my old antidepressant (Sertraline) which is why I'm here right now, just looking into what to expect.) and I'm still adjusting to the new ones (Mirtazapine), so things are looking great for me at the moment, hopefully, things carry on like this because I'm currently not suffering for the first time in a very long time, I still feel down sometimes but it's absolutely nothing compared to the past and it's very manageable and a greatly noticeable difference.
The only side effect I have noticed is that I've been eating more than normal and have a very strong appetite and have put on a few kilograms which is new to me as I have been skinny my entire life, it's nothing terrible though and I have started working on losing the weight I gained.
TLDR: Just because one or a few antidepressants have had bad side effects for you doesn't mean that all of them will, 3 antidepressants have been bad or haven't had acceptable effects on me and I'm currently on my 4th and it's going really well so far (And yes, I have tried going without antidepressants enough times to know that it's not worth trying again).
I hope this helps someone, I have been hopeless for far too long thinking this would last forever but it seems my persistence is paying off and that I have found the light at the end of the tunnel!

There is nothing wrong with taking prescription Zoloft or sertraline. There is nothing wrong with needing to be on Zoloft or sertraline. The negative stigmatization of having mental health issues and taking psychiatric medication is harmful and potentially deadly for the community of people who greatly benefit from something like Zoloft. This video perpetuates that negative stigmatization in a very dangerous and insidious way. This entire video is based on the false premise that there is something wrong with taking Zoloft.
