Lemon Grove - Family held vigil for slain shooting victim Karmen Hicks

The family of slain shooting victim Karmen Hicks held a vigil today at Barry Street Park. Here is some footage of the vigil along with some key speakers.

On April 24, 2021, at about 11:30 p.m., Sheriff's deputies responded to the 3600 block of Bancroft Drive in Spring Valley for a report of a shooting. When deputies arrived, they learned a woman had been shot while seated in a parked vehicle, but she was no longer at the scene. Another person had driven the woman to a local area hospital where she was being treated for gunshot wounds. Unfortunately, the woman's condition declined. She was pronounced deceased this morning.
The Sheriff's Homicide Unit responded and has assumed responsibility of the investigation.
The victim has been identified as forty-year-old Karmen Dionne Anderson who is also known as Karmen Hicks. Karmen is a resident of the city of San Diego. Her family has been notified of her death.

Heart breaking!! Karmen was one of the little girls in our wedding March 08, 1982. Her and her sister Marian were little sweethearts. I can't believe this lovely lady is gone. Condolences to mother Monica and her dad Kenneth Anderson. May God's love carry your through this trying time. Our condolences to Karmen's Family and friends. Love you all.
