These highlights are so Sinner-centered. There were many moments where Medvedev made amazing shots and won points. Media still underrepresents Medvedev as a good player, who in fact he is.
Sinner has stamina issue ever since French Open. In this match Sinner began to struggle in set 2, worsen in set 3, better in set 4 while Medvedev touched physical bottom. Medvedev recovered in set 5 while Sinner was still struggling. If Sinner does not solve his stamina issue, he stands no chance against Alcaraz or even Djokovic.

Well thats obviously because the more aggressive player hits more highlight shots and winners. Medvedev is defensive and wins a lot of point on opponent errors.
The quality of matches from Sinner I find to be low, even when he won the AO - mentally he is great and I that is what matters the most in tennis. But wow - since Nadal stopped being a contender the level in ATP went downhill.
This is not uncommon. Tennis media are marketing Sinner/Alcaraz as the new Federer/Nadal so they promote them constantly. This is not unlike the Shelton/Djokovic highlights from US open last year, etc., etc.
Medvedev doesn't advertise Nike, Rolex or IBM. Wimbledon is their tournament. Also, Medvedev is not Western European. Kinda understandable for not showing him as main protagonist.

I hoped, that this year WTA/ATP/ITF, would stop this nonsense of mixing sport with politics. Every player should have right to play under her/his country's flag. One cannot choose the country of one's birth. Appointing "flag police" at tennis tournaments is not even childish... it was embarrassing and insane... Wars are run by politicians not sportsmen/sportswomen. Why during the invasion of Iraq, 20 year bombing of Afghanistan, Syria, Yemen and Pakistan not to mention the genocidal Vietnam war US, Australian, UK... athletes were allowed to compete under their national flag? USA invaded Iraq in 2003 and yet their flag was still allowed at the World Cup 2006 in Germany and 2010 in South Africa despite the fact they were still in Iraq. Either ban ALL flags of countries who go to war, or don't ban any of them. Interestingly enough Israeli tennis players Mika Buchnik and Guy Sasson are allowed to play under the national flag in AO 2024 despite the policy of their government towards Palestinians in Gaza. *** All wars are equal, but some wars are more equal than others.

For those who want to say Sinner was injured, stop. Sinner being gassed and feeling dizzy in the 3rd set is not an injury, he just couldn't handle the intensity of the match. Last year vs Zverev, he had cramps, Alcaraz was moving him around side to side at Roland Garros, and Medvedev did the same thing today against Alcaraz. Sinner clearly hates running so much. He's the type of player where he likes to be in full control and not constantly running so much. This is why he is not better than Alcaraz. Medvedev is an excellent player, a true wild card, capable of beating anyone in the tournament. It certainly looks like the media & Wimbledon were looking for a Sinner/ Alcaraz match judging from these highlights. Daniil's dangerous, a special opponent who's always tough on anyone.
Med changed his tactics. He didn't return 20 meters from the baseline, so Sinner could not serve and volley often. If Med keeps up his return tactics, it won't be that easy for Alcaraz.
Daniil can still run Jannik around ragged and exhausted like the old days. So there's still a match-up issue for Sinner there from a physicality standpoint, and even Daniil said it himself that apart from one of those past 5 straight losses, they were competitive matches and half of them where he was on fumes after a long season last year. The rest of it was purely mental and belief in the important moments which he lacked. That combined with Sinner's improvements to hang tough with his game and stamina, this is very much an even match-up.
