Hi I want to power a 12v Tenda Ac1200 MU router and a 12v Fibre ONT will I be able to. I have the Volkano Mini UPS and although it says it can power up to 2 devices 2 x 12v) my ONT does not get enough. Thanks for any feedback
What voltage does it needs to set to for your router and ONT (5,9 or 12),?, Also is DC cables the type 5.5 x 2.5? And which side of the DC cables goes to the router and the ONT and the other side of the cable to the UPS?
So you constantly keep it plugged into the main power so it automatically switches over during load shedding (which I think makes sense)? Does it not affect battery health of UPS?
Hi G-Man, yes you are correct. You keep it plugged in to the main power and the UPS switches over to battery power instantaneously when main power is lost. In terms of battery health, this UPS is protected against Over charge and Discharge. Thank you very much for watching! And thanks for commenting!
Hi Eunice, yes plug the UPS into the wall socket (main). Let it charge to 100%. The UPS will always be plugged in. You will never have to unplug it as it will always recharge. Now, Remove your Router's power cable. You will use the power cable provided in the box to plug into your router. Thus, your router will always have power as it will be running on the UPS battery when there is a blackout. You will have to setup the UPS before a blackout. The UPS will automatically run on battery power in a blackout no extra steps are needed. You may leave the UPS plugged in and you won't even realize your wifi is off.
Basically you have 4 18650 batteries 3.7v 2200mAh each (cheap ones) if you convert it to Wh (Watt Hours) its 32.56Wh at 3.7v 8800mAh, at 5v however you get capacity only 6512 9v - 3617mAh 12v - 2713mAh. If your router consumes 5Wh (you can find Wh it by multiplying V*A=Wh on router's label) so 32.56Wh can run a router with 5Wh for 6.5hours on a battery life. Thats best case scenario if those cheap batteries are really have 2200mAh in capacity, if its possible to replace them with 3000mAh capacity for example Samsung ones, thats going to be 44.4Wh in total and can run same router for almost 9 hours
Hi, thanks for your review. Would you perhaps know if it would work on the Rain outdoor router? I have the Rain router mounted on the roof, and connected to an indoor Wi-Fi router. Just struggling to wrap my head around how it would connect to the UPS. I’m thinking the POE cable into the UPS POE slot, and the LAN cable from the indoor router to the UPS. Would this be correct? Thanks again.
Hi Kristy, I have not as of yet tested the UPS on any Rain devices But your idea sounds correct. Just bear in mind that there is another Gizzu UPS that has the POE power input as well... as this Gizzu UPS in my video is Not the one with POE. Thanks for watching! Hope my video could help you in any way.
I received the Gizzu 60W DC 65Wh Mini UPS on Thursday. We do not get loadshedding but power outages when a they vandalized a substation. Maybe once a month, sometimes more often. So I need to keep it plugged in all the time - will you not have to replace the ups sooner seeing that it is on charge the whole time?
Hi R. Fourie Thats great to hear, you will not be disappointed with the UPS. And to answer your question: No, this UPS has Over Charge and Discharge protection. Therefore it can be plugged in for long periods of time without the batteries getting damaged. In this way your UPS will always be ready for emergencies. Thank you for leaving a comment.
Nope it doesn't need to be charged for 24h. If you see the battery is at 100%, then you are good to go. This device is plug and play so to speak. And it will continue charging throughout the day while being operational.
I have a tp link deco system. The main deco is my router and is connected to my fibre router that mweb gave me.... I'm confused as to what needs to plug into the gizzu?
Hi stance works, so this Gizzu UPS is primarily made for routers and fiber boxes (ONT). Thus you would plug in the power cable of the router into the Gizzu. Same goes for a fiber box. The power cables are provided with the Gizzu UPS (the power cables/adapters that you plug into your devices). If your device doesn't have a power cable input and rather an Ethernet port you will have to go with the POE Gizzu UPS (This is a different Gizzu UPS model). Thanks for watching.
great little review straight to the point and easy to follow .... my router is 9v and the fibre is 12v 'instant 'what happens now' ... no problem at all
Hi Patrick, this UPS has 3 settings for voltage - 5V, 9V and 12V. And as well this UPS has 2 power output points thus you can connect both your router that is a 9V and your fibre box (ONT) 12V. Thank you for watching! Hope the video helped you in any way.
I own this unit and I just use it like a power bank when there is load shedding - I run my openserve fibre box & Asus router - after 2 hours it still has 50% battery life - side note, this is only meant to power routers & fibre boxes - there’s no USB outlets
Hi Rachel, I have not tested this Huawei router as of yet. But I looked up the router and it seems it should work. The UPS does come with ×2 power connectors for different power inputs. Thank you for watching. Hope the video helped in any way.
Hi There, great review. I ordered the 60W ups, and i want to power my Frogfoot ONT fibre box, and my Vox Mikrotik router. The router can except input power of between 12 and 28 V,, and uses a 24V 0.8A ac adaptor. Would you know if it would be better to power the router on one of the 12 V dc ports, or on the 24 V POE port using a network cable on the ups?
I'd set both the same. 12v 3amp should be fine, DC 10-28V is the operating range, between 10v and 28v. The multimedia connector is a range of 5v to 12v, now that I think about it, might put that one on the 9v setting
I have a unique problem - my router is 24v and the UPS supports only 9v/12v - does it mean I have to return the UPS or is there a way to use it on my router?
Your UPS must give the same amont Volts than hr router etc..of the router is 9V the UPS must have the option for 9V if not it wont work and will destroy hr sruff..my UPS can choose between 9V and 12V and then on the other side its between 15V and 24V
