- Cavitation is the formation of vapour bubbles within a liquid at low-pressure regions that occur in places where the fluid has been accelerated to high velocities. This remarkable phenomenon is of particular interest in ship and submarine hydrodynamics as it causes a range of problems for propulsion and control equipment including unpredictable water flows, thrust breakdown, unsteady loads, vibration, noise, and metal erosion. Understanding this violent and chaotic process is vital in reducing the noise generated by rotating propellers, and important for avoiding vessel detection, or reducing environmental noise pollution. Cavitation can significantly reduce operability and ultimate life of equipment due to its destructive nature.

I was studying fluid mechanics and I ended up here it's really such an interesting topic
I saw a warrantied cavitated gear at work. Coworkers assumed it was a metallurgy problem. I went to the boss and recommended several videos regarding cavitation. Thanks to RUclips, I'm back on top!
this is the best explanation ive been able to find
same
Very easy to understand
Incredible ! Thanks !!!
Intriguing...!
nice explanation
thank you so much, was very useful to understand propeller cavitation
yes, and how to fix ? how to increase NPSHa for that ?
very informative and instinct. thank you!
Few people know that water boils at different pressure with different temperature... and those people are those who studied 101 thermodynamics...😏
Nostalgia.
Anyone here from Subnautica ?
Me bro
"vessel cavitating,excessive noise!"
You are good but the world is out of technology
fascinating video, but tell the scientist to tone his main character syndrome down a bit
There Is No Allah But God.
Both are made up.

Nice cut-n-paste from big-bigger-biggest submarines video. Down arrow, skip and move on.
