  • Is the Cort G200 one of the best cheap guitars I've tried on the channel?
I certainly have high hopes for it, since I've really liked quite a few of the Corts I've tried. The G260 and G110 were both brilliant budget friendly guitars.
So let's see how this one does.
    Enjoy!

This is why we like Elmo's reviews. The biggest problem with these guitars is lack of quality control. They might say - at these prices we can't afford to do quality control checks. But really - surely someone either at the factory end or the retail end ( preferably both ) should be taking a few minutes to plug in each guitar before sending it out to a customer.

    My Cort experience:
    - G100 cheapest hardtail strat, very comfortable and simple great for beginners, needed some fret leveling and sanding down the fretboard edge
    - G250FR avoid at all cost, it has a major design flaw, which cort revisidet and try to fix, but messed up. Floyd studs usually caved in so they added a stud bar to fix this (it was a thing in the prototype floyd guitars) with that the trem block is too short and the springs are grinding the body, sent it back next day
    - G110 first one had 1-2mm gaps at the neckpocket, second one was perfect and it is my favorite guitar today

It's a shame because Cort, usually, is pretty reliable. As always though a completely honest review without fear or favour.

Cort low line is very hit and miss, brought 4 Corts in the last 5years and sent back two on day one.

Found one at the pawn shop. Haggled it down to $100. It was made in 2002 apparently. Great neck, low action, no signs of fret wear, no fret buzz. I don't use the tremolo so I just tightened the screws on the claw and tuning is solid. Has very good tuners. The pickups are fine but I love the alnico pups I have on my other guitars so I'll probably replace them.
    I found a good one apparently. I think it's as good as a $300 Sawtooth I have.

In the beginning of the video I had some hopes for this guitar. Nice Stratty tones. If this were a hardtail, it wouldn’t be too bad. But it isn’t, so it is. Not too long ago, this level of quality would be a steal at this price. Now days, there are countless killer guitars that can be had in this price range…. many of them made in the Cort factory. Another good video!

What would u recommend at this price range?

    • @norseman61
      @norseman61 9 месяцев назад

@@Clementslay It may be a little more expensive, but Sire has a fairly new “budget” line of guitars that are supposed to be great. Their S3 (Larry Carlton) model is $399.00. I don’t actually have one, but I do have their T7 Tele that is flawless. From what I hear, Sire’s products have incredibly consistent build quality. Mine is literally flawless. I think they’re made at the Cort factory. Also, Elmo liked it!

I paid $200 for mine on Reverb, in February of 2024, it had a few minor blemishes. I also own a Cort G290 Fat and a Cort Katana. I Love all of my Cort guitars.

i have les paul and strat guitars. Vintage brand lemon drop guitar too. My favorite is always been CORT M600- unbelievable value when it came out. perfect frets, intonation and set up out of the box. beautiful natural mahogany tone with Duncan designed pickups ( sounded very good). perfect ergonomics( PRS style) for me. No doubt , CORT makes best value guitars. CORT is also a hit or miss under US$350 guitars. if you can do some set up yourself then even cheaper corts are great value. Look no further for people on tight budgets. try before you buy

I have a G260CS, and it's so good I'm thinking of buying either a G290 FAT II or G300 Pro (the G300 Raw looks absolutely stunning)! Great quality, great pickups and hardware, and for so cheap. The only remarks I would give the 260 is that the 5-way selector is crap, the guitar wasn't set up very well from factory, and the fretboard was quite dry when I received it. Other than it was flawless.

Respect for review. Guitars sent by producers are always checked. I bought a G300 for my son and I had to pay for proper setup and 5 way switch fix. I will never trust yt reviews with products sent by producers.

Bought a G260cs recently, had a lot of cosmetic issues and the neck was not properly aligned with the body, i solved the alignment issue and Thomann offered me a discount for the cosmetic issues, for 185€ it turned out a killer guitar.

This is an amusing, entertaining and interesting sort of review. These cheaper guitars, where you don't pay extra for the name on the headstock are becoming a kind of bosession for me. It's harmless I suppose, until there's no more room for them in the music room !
I bought a small pratice amp, a NU-X bt-20. I think for the purpose, it sounds really rather good. As good as a Katana. Anyway, I got a 'free' guitar with it. A Beaton. Which I hadn't heard of. It's a kind of offset, jazzmaster, kind of thing, with two P90 pickups.
Back home I was really surprised at how good it was. There was nothing wrong with the quality control. Good neck. Good frets. Good important stuff. I blocked the whammy. Tuned it. Adjusted the neck. It stays in tune. Sounds okay really. I can compensate with my hands for any... 'problems'. Through a good amp, I was impressed.
I can't find anything about this Beaton guitar at all on RUclips or the Internet. Other Beaton guitars, but not this 'Jazzmaster' That's sort of intriguing or maybe I'm not smart enough to find it? I think there are advantages to having robots make guitars.

I bought the same type of Cort in the mid eighties (I’m old as dirt), that was done up like Eddie’s Kramer with the beak headstock and I replaced the pickup and tuners. It was my main guitar for years. Played ok. Sounded great. Just a regular Fender type trem so no whammy bar antics. I wonder what happened to it.
    I’m disappointed as well. What a 💩.
    Great playing though!

One of the many things that I like in your reviews, is that you plug St style guitars in Plexis. Great combo! The guitar was far from perfect. In Athens, Greece, it sells brand new at 267 euros -did you buy it second hand? Better go to the store and check it out, otherwise... cross your fingers.

Thank you very much, you straightaway told not to go for it, i have seen your video on G110 and i am planning to buy it l, here in india most of the stuff which you told in you budget guitar videos is either out of stock or not available. So, is it worth to invest in G110 as an intermediate guitar player, i mainly play fingerstyle on acoistic and planning to play electric now 😊

Bummer on the Cort, Elmo. Had a Cort strat years ago that was really good, not great, but good with solid quality. It's a pity they hustled that one out the door and didn't take just 5 minutes to give it a real once over. I would definitely take a Jet or an Eart over Cort though even on a good day. Great review Elmo, as always.

I love the look of that Cort natural strat, but the QC (or lack thereof) clearly brings it down.
Alas, no brand at any price point is safe-guarded against QC!

Although it is a budget guitar, there is no excuse for it being checked off by QC. Hence, whoever was involved with letting that guitar go out the door should be seriously retrained as a minimum.

between a pacifica 112v, ibanez azes40 and cort g250 which one is good for beginners. I am don't know which one to pick, the Yamaha pac 112j and Ibanez axes 40 which one is better.

If possible try before you buy, at this end of the market you get good and bad samples of all brands.
Plus you need to find a neck that is comfortable for you to play or you will never practice
My choice would be the Pacifica 112V but it has a fairly thick neck., the Cort and Ibanez will have thinner
      necks.

Any guitar brand can have the odd bad sample, with some brands finding a good sample
    is not easy.
Cort should be hanging their heads with this one, if i had received it no way would i keep it.
These days i want to see and try before i buy, there are far too many bad samples sent out
if you order online with the retailer hoping that someone will just curse and keep it.
I just curse and send them back!
    Better luck next time Elmo.
