Very helpful. Learned this in Genetec certification course but forgot some of the details. Trying to do a motion search for a specific door, not having much luck. Perhaps you could point me in the right direction?
Thank you for the great video. I tried to set up Email Snapshots when Motion On but the quality of Snapshots is quite bad. Appreciate it if you have any advice to configure the snapshot quality. Thank Phil.
I'm slowly moving into a configuring/setup role from an end user position for various systems within my organization and have found your videos very informative and well understood. Within the next month or so I will be starting on configuring various features on Genetec and I am interested in the People Counting function as I believe it will be valuable in tracking down circumstances that lead to high usage of our facility so that we can better prepare when we know those circumstances are likely to occur. I have not made it through all your videos yet but I was also wondering if there is a function that would either count the vehicles in a parking lot or the empty spaces, either would reduce some of the burden on our exterior patrol officers.
Hi Paul and thanks for watching! As for People Counting, check out the video I did related to Occupancy Management. Regarding vehicles, I would recommend the use of an LPR camera placed at chokes points to you lots. This will not only give you a count of the number of vehicles but also how long they stayed and the plate number to. Check out the videos I did on AutoVu Sharp as a Service to get a better idea.
Thanks a lot Phil, Can you teach us how to configure people count correctly ? In my case, I have 3 different entrances to the building, and in each one has some turnstiles. thanks again!
Even if setting to Archiver for motion detection, when applying this to a site with 100+ cameras it might take longer to do it per individual camera which (time is money), but the cost of CPU power at this point outways the cost of time to implement VMD at edge level. And from 15+ years of experience, EDGE motion is by far more accurate than any software based VMD, unless you start using applications like BriefCam, etc.
I totally agree with your assessment. IMO the camera is usually better 99% of the time but either way you slice it proper config is going to take a while.
Love the videos. We just upgraded to axis ptzs on genetec 5.7 with axis T8311/12 controllers. Is there a System Preset that resets all ptzs or can you only preset them one at a time?
Set up the configurations and used the TEST function. Cameras are not detecting any motion/block violations, even with 100% sensitivity up... Any ideas? I have tried using Genetec program and on the camera itself.
Sorry for the long preamble but I felt the info was necessary. However, in the description of the video I provide chapter markers so you can skip ahead.
150% agree on not recording only on motion, as I have mentioned before; some times you need to prove somebody was not there......
Great job. you are making it easy to understand. not everyone can be a good teacher.
Top video yet again Phil. So many people don’t really understand motion detection and you made it easy too.
Thank you so much! 😊
Excellent video (once again!). I learned A LOT from this one. Much appreciated! Thank you

Where are you located? I will ask the regional SE from Genetec to get in contact with you.

I’m currently trying to get it to send notification alerts for motion detection, how would I go about that?

Hey there. Sorry for the delay. That is extremely odd behavior. What type of camera is it?
Hey. Could you help with few questions regarding Genetec?
Sure, I'll do my best. Email me: Philcoppola@gmail.com
Over 7 minutes to actually start subject. Uggggggg
