My biggest tipp for everyone is to get a teacher. I wasted 6 years because I self-taught the basics, etc., but now that I'm 16, I have a teacher, and I'm improving so fast.
This video is literally perfect, straight to the point on everything you should and shouldn't do! (Going back to what you said about not having to retune to play lower songs) you can bar any fret on the Low E&A with a finger 2 frets down on the D, essentially it allows you to play lower tuning power chords in standard tuning with only a slight difference from playing in a drop tuning + sub 👍
Yo i loved this video, i started guitar yesterday and have probably only played for a total of 12 hours lol.. but i progressed EXTREMELY fast.. i have already hit that wall of just not being able to improve for shi.. any tips on getting over that hump?
@@Jujubeyond_cooked That’s awesome that you’ve started strong man! I definitely feel you with the hump lol it’s something I think everyone goes through with stuff like guitar. This might be a cliche but my best advice is really to practice practice practice, because eventually you’re gonna get over the hump (could be a day, week, month, let’s hope it’s on the quicker side lol) and everything’s going to start making sense and sailing smooth. Here are some other little tips to improve playing I can think of: - Don’t be afraid to stay on one specific area to improve, but it’s also important to not get hyper fixated. If you really feel like you can’t do it, leave it for a while, work on other stuff, and come back! You’d be surprised! - Don’t overestimate or undermine your abilities - Play as much as possible - Practice slow, don’t try to rush - Don’t give up! Sorry if these tips are a little all over the place, I’m not a great teacher 😂 still, I hope this helps!
@@camscraftycorner7839 I feel you man 😭 i think keeping your thumb behind the neck and building up the toughness in your fingers to press down are the most important things, but yeah barre chords are a chore to get the hang of Good luck!
Yeah just gotta use that thumb on the back to make a little clamp. Equal pressure from thumb and bar finger (so you aren’t “pushing” or “pulling” the neck) - Doesn’t need to be as much pressure as you think, honestly it’s about as much force as picking up your phone or a can of soda with thumb/pointer. Other than that, just focus on using the fatty part of your bar finger, if you start rolling onto the side, that’s your bone and that’s gonna hurt like a bitch no matter how long you’ve been playing. Good luck!

I remember struggling with this a lot, but now after Practicing, I default to bar chords, when I learn a difficult piece.
