No need to remove the speaker, but the Airtag in the trunk (noise isolation) or near the car engine.

@@ghosthunter152 i believe you need to put your AirTag on lost mode from the "Find My Iphone" app, at that point any nearby surrounding Iphone will report to your iphone the location via internet. If not in lost mode it will just report last airtag location, and you wont get a new update of location unless you are within bluetooth range (close). Anyone reading this please correct me if I'm about any of this.

Keep in mind that air tags let people know if they’re being tracked. It’s the anti stalking feature. So they’ll get the notification and already know you’re tracing them.
