As a newbie to your videos must admit I do enjoy , does make me laugh when you say “20 min before the next job etc” you really need to try rural taxi driving 20 mins between jobs for me would be a mega day lol

Actually, now you mention toilet breaks; When in London; what would you do if you needed a toilet? Especially in the evening? I usually just walk into a Pret but they can close quite early. I find that finding a toilet in the evening can be quite a challenge.

As some insight, here in Singapore (and probably other countries) many taxi drivers don't know local roads, hence you gotta give them a general area before then directing them once you get there. Probably explains the lads at 24:30.
Remember Eastbourne Terrace is 1st then Westbourne . Keep the East and West together. Thats how i remember it.

Love the videos Tom. I find it so relaxing to virtually drive around town with you. I'm always surprised at how much of London I know! Even though I don't tend to stray beyond my little corner of this city very often. A question for you about London Airports. You obviously can pick up from Heathrow, City and I imagine Gatwick. But what about London Luton and Stanstead? Would they be worthwhile even if you can?

Hi Tom, love the videos mate. I'm a sameday courier based in Sheffield. The sameday delivery industry allegedly grew from the black cab trade in the 60's and 70's. It'd be awesome if you did a video covering that period of how they started delivering whilst also running passengers around London. Keep up the good work! 👍🏻👍🏻

Any good apps for calling black cabs other than Gett or Freenow? The only reason I still use Ubers is because it’s hard to find a cab in the area I live in

I don't, wouldn't be in this job if I got road rage. You just have to let everything go.

Hi Tom, Is this something that all London cabbies do, and is it recognised as being the correct way to do the job……driving around the side streets to avoid being stationary at lights. Perhaps customers feel more anxious if they are watching the meter tick over whilst being stationary at lights.
They also get anxious rattling around side streets. They can think you’re taking a long route. Sometimes you just can’t win.

When did Londoners start referring to it as “Central” rather than the “West End”?
People who work in London call it Central.

It’s always been called Central.
Short for Central London.
Not that complicated to understand.
I don’t know what commuters, Bus Drivers or Security Guards call it.
I've called it Central for as long as I can remember. The area spans from the City right up to Westminster if not beyond. The West End to me is the theatre district within Central - Piccadilly Circus, Leicester Square, Oxford Street etc.
Can you be pre booked? Looking for Paddington to king cross premier inn hub soon.
Due to the time taken it's easier and cheaper to grab a taxi from the rank. Approximately £18-£20 on the meter depending on conditions and time of day.

What does "legals me the fare" mean??
I was thinking the same thing. I think it means pays with exact change. So if the fare was 7 pound 40 pence, she gave the exact amount. Or give 8 pounds and asked for change.
