    Beautiful! The baritone/bass oboe and heckelphone are sufficiently different in feel and timbre that (I think) there is room for both in the repertoire.
    Doing my part to add to that rep! *chuckle*

      Oh yeah. I feel the same about the contrabassoon and contraforte.
      Some people dislike the contraforte, I feel there is room for both.

    The one time I've heard a baritone oboe played in person was when the Paris Conservatoire orchestra performed Edgard Varèse's Arcana in concert at Radio France, December 1984.

      Maybe like a unique tuba or sousa or even a helicon. But I like how this channel is sharing some instruments that barely any recordings really exist of in this quality.
