Beautiful! The baritone/bass oboe and heckelphone are sufficiently different in feel and timbre that (I think) there is room for both in the repertoire. Doing my part to add to that rep! *chuckle*
The one time I've heard a baritone oboe played in person was when the Paris Conservatoire orchestra performed Edgard Varèse's Arcana in concert at Radio France, December 1984.
Maybe like a unique tuba or sousa or even a helicon. But I like how this channel is sharing some instruments that barely any recordings really exist of in this quality.
my right ear thoroughly enjoyed the middle part of that solo

Oh yeah. I feel the same about the contrabassoon and contraforte.
Some people dislike the contraforte, I feel there is room for both.
Lovely tone....

Lovely. Thank you!
I'd like to see a tuba or a sousaphone, please!

Does it use the same cane size as a regular oboe?
Насколько гекельфон в этой же пьесе звучит интереснее!
Why does it sound like a chello lol, cool instrument
