The Austrian "Crocodile" - ÖBB Class 1020 | De Oostenrijkse "Krokodil" - ÖBB serie 1020

This is about the electric locomotive from the class 1020. These locomotives were built between 1940 and 1956 by a consortium of AEG, BBC, Henschel, Krauss- Maffei and Krupp for the German Railways.
In total 231 were built and after the war the Austrian Railways, ÖBB, got 44 of these locomotives. They got the nickname "the Crocodile", because of the resemblance to the Swiss “Crocodile” locomotives (class 6/8).
The crocodiles ran for years on the Austrian tracks, especially in the provinces of Tyrol, Carinthia and Styria. An interesting, 2 part portrait of this imposing electric locomotive.

Deze exclusieve serie, oorspronkelijk uitgebracht op dvd, die hier op 24Trains.tv te zien is, gaat over de elektrische locomotief uit de serie 1020. Deze locomotieven werden tussen 1940 en 1956 gebouwd door een consortium van AEG, BBC, Henschel, Krauss-Maffei en Krupp voor de Duitse spoorwegen.
In totaal werden er 231 gebouwd en na de oorlog kreeg de Oostenrijkse Spoorwegen, ÖBB, 44 van deze locomotieven. Ze kregen de bijnaam "de Krokodil", vanwege de gelijkenis met de Zwitserse "Krokodil"-locomotieven (klasse 6/8).
De krokodillen reden jarenlang op de Oostenrijkse sporen, vooral in de provincies Tirol, Karinthië en Stiermarken. Een interessant tweedelig portret van deze imposante elektrische locomotief.
