The smaller bits are to fit into smaller tighter spaces such as recessed fasteners on electronics, fishing reels, folding knives, etc......As others on here have already stated Milwaukee is going 3.5 as well. So pack up all your toys and don't play if you want, I"m actually going to buy 6 of these precision kits one for each vehicle my home and my office.
3months in with the 1/4 and 3/8 pass thru sets. It’s made my bag a good 10 lbs lighter with what it replaced and I have some extra space in there for a change. Very satisfied.
lol someone should sell a jig for grinding bits to size with a dremel or some shit. I don't like the ratcheting stuff because it all breaks. Screw it. Fall into the need a new screwdriver trap. They want a fucking subscription model, the leaderships thinks they are so smart now, that they can make everything a subscription. And just get a little drill from makita, that holds any hexagon or rod, has torque limiting too. just use electricity instead of falling into some clicky-trap. Those little drills are so small now its almost a screwdriver without the stupid cost addons. Like I will just use a fucking motor if you think that you can have me fall into some 1960's spring based shit... those sub compacts are SO good. And for the tiny form factor... those little pen lithium ion battery drills are good, but beware, fragile as FUCK. one 3 foot drop and its toast.... but the basic model without any features (wowstick) is good
That’s a good enough reason why I’d buy them I don’t know how many times I’ve gone to use bits and they don’t fit in the well and when most of my screwdrivers are insulated and don’t fit either this solves that problem great idea in my opinion
The precision bits are nice. I get not supporting proprietary. But by buying klein. You’re already doing that. That set is worth it. Some precision sets get pretty pricy and I feel klein is reasonable.
I thought the whole point of kits was to avoid unnecessary trips to the tool box or truck. Proprietary tools just makes everything more complicated than it needs to be. Imagine explaining to an apprentice on what tool you want him to retrieve.
A great video brother. I'm with ya on that 3.5 mm set. I have the other set and the ratcheting screw driver and the 7 in 1 screwed driver with the flip sockets. I'm glad to be in the Klein ecosystem. 😊
I got the 13pc flip socket set, gotta add a 3/8 drive to hex drive adapter to make all sockets ratchet friendly if you dont have the klien pass through set. should have been in the kit IMO.
I would rather have a metric only set of those flip sockets as i never use SAE plus that metric only would hopefully make the cases close to the same size as the rest
The difference for me is there is no standard pass thru socket standard like socket drive sizes. Plus Klein gives you a lot of adapters to use the proprietary sockets with standard wrenches. Bits that are more easily lost, should be able to be replaced, according to th3 Klein Reddit group you can’t order repkacemen5 parts for these kits, you hav3 to buy a whole kit.
The other flip socket Klein stuff is somewhat proprietary, but it really seems like it’s *better*, *unavoidable*, and they use standards when they can. Like that adapter you want a spare of. It does have a proprietary stat, but it also accepts 1/4” and 3/8” square. They didn’t do weird things “just because”. I have a set of Wiha 4mm bits that I got over 20 years ago. The ModBox system isn’t great enough to make me forego backwards compatibility.
I *think* the wrench itself is a 17mm opening, which seems to be a standard in that you can throw in the stubby sockets from Astro, et al, to expand the line. I saw that discussion on a FB forum recently. I'm planning to test it as I'm buying both the Astros and the Klein box. Just waiting for Klein to release the ratchet sets in metric.
From a Klein group you can’t buy replacement parts for these sets from Klein. They sell them as kits only. Thanks for saving me from buying the precision set, was thinking about it, but if you can’t buy replacement bits, why bother. It’s weird considering how much the knect system is all about compatibility.
I'm upset, and not just a little BIT! Hah get it? I was literally looking for a bit set like that... but not that one! Even the ratchet only takes the proprietary bits? You didn't even teake it out of frustration!
Great overview. Thank you. I thought 3.5mm was the standard mini bit size. That's what mine have been, though they probably came from my old Klein system. I definitely prefer they stick with 3.5. I'm leaning toward this set, though I'm waiting to see what the Icon mini socket set looks like this summer.

Actually, I don't think Klein has ever made 4mm bit sets. I've had one of their older precision sets (32717) for a few years, and it's definitely 3.5mm like this one.
I bought the 1/4 ratchet set, I was super excited to have it. So I grabbed the ratchet, grabbed the extension, snapped it on, then grabbed the 3/8 socket slapped it on, used it and it worked great!! Then went to take it all down, pulled the extension off and placed the ratchet back in its cradle, then tugged on the 3/8 socket and it wouldn’t come out. So I yanked on it harder, still stuck, grabbed a pair of channel locks to get a better purchase on the socket. I tugged and yanked and pulled and twisted, and it’s stuck…..still. Ran it back to Lowe’s and asked for a refund. I was extremely disappointed. It was the perfect size and everything about it was going to be functional for me….only to find out it was garbage!!! Sorry but 👎👎
I wish Klein would start bringing all these kits in metric. They look awesome. But they are shooting themselves in the foot as most of the world is metric and people not in America like their products too.
is anyone getting paranoid that manufactuers are focusing on the 'satisfaction' of actuating a mechanism vs the actual function, form and quality of the tool recently? I think those videos that always brag about the 'click' or whatever being 'satisfying' and being a sign of quality? Like, I noticed they are using soft materials and playing all sorts of physics games to give it some kind of 'toy' satisfaction... but it has nothing to say about the durability of the mechanism, and usually it involves cheap poorly tempered low quality rust prone springs. I almost feel smart now, when evaluating a tool, to list any thing related to good tactile sensation for 0.1 seconds as a con, because it seems engineered at a detriment to other features. Kind of like soft grips used to be, we know now basically it turned into a rancid shit storm (seriously, it decays and smells like bodily things). the next generation of tool repair is going to be like fucking dentists fixing cavities with springs in them, instead of coating experts. IMO say NO to this CRAP. I am not saying something like low vibration or good ergonomics, I mean literarly when people talk about the "click". Lets also put plastic in it for no reason other then to mellow out the mechanism that you deploy once a month. yeah i wanna pay for that. they want you to pay a tax with their product. you pay more for the thing you commonly lose and never maintain (lubricate,clean... bits??!). the driver you might maintain. that means it might last a while. this means that the company will not get tax from you. you see the bit is perfect for getting wet when you work on wet shit, so the spring rusts away. if you think magnets are bad, their 100x better then springs. i sit all those cup things upright and pour oil in em every year it took a genius burglar to figure out how to make something as fucking solid and reliable as a drill bit have a weak point in the form of a tiny low quality spring. you see watson, they want to turn a screw driver into a printer ink cartridge
and for repairing magnets, just drill it out a bit and glue in a magnet with loctite prism glue (meant for magnets) after you clean it out in the ultrasonic and dry it off good

worth for me too
I think you’re getting your knickers in a twist. 3.5 is chosen because you can reach into narrower deeper screw wells. Makes sense

its quite loose in 3.5mm. the bigger issue is getting replacement bits for 3.5 when 4mm is everywhere.
