Good job waste of time no way on earth to fix a torn bumper,wish there was 40 years of doing bodywork i would be rich,
I have a plastic repair kit from Mac tools and it works great to repair cracks in platic, use it all the time at my body shop
In Vietnam we do for bike, car body
It's quite easy, you can do it yourself

All great except I don't have this silver tape that's made out of metal so it won't burn, nor do I have this small copper pipe to make a tip out of it.. All in all a big bs.
You can use paper tape and aluminum tubes

What was the black stick he was using. I assume it was some type of charcoal but I have never seen it in such a stick; possibly charcoal used for drawing or art?
Charcoal
Bamboo charcoal, looks like charcoal on Amazon used for water filtering; for putting in a water bottle
it was great
Third world charcoals are chunky like that.

You're repairing a plastic part, which "should be" somewhat flexible.
I would use plastic zip ties to fill the crack and to level the surface.
Then, add little extra to build up that crack surface then body work it smooth before priming and painting.
The super flue repair my be strong, but that stiff repair may eventually crack again.
