I'm not nostalgic a person but watching this short video was special and made my cry. Good people lived there! Good people. Praise to the man who communed with Jehovah, feel so closely related to Brother Joseph and Sister Emma.
I served my mission in Ohio Cleveland Mission. I served there from May 1992 - November 1993. My first area was Chardon Ohio outside of Kirtland. I went to church there. I had missionary meetings, etc in Kirtland.. I took a tour of Kirtland Ohio. I loved my mission and Ohio. I've been wanting to visit there again and I hope that I do. Thanks for posting.
Beautiful job restoring this home. I would love to visit! Especially to learn about the things that happened while they lived there. Things like this really help us to connect to history. Also the music was lovely in this video, as was the cinematography.
I want to tell the team that worked on this: this turned out quite beautiful! I appreciate many of the details here, such as the white top hat. Seeing historic sites, such as this one, staged in a way that it feels like a step back in time really helps me to relate to the prophet Joseph so much more. Thank you to all involved in the project! I feel it is becoming increasingly important in this century that the saints are able to in a multiplicity of ways, put themselves in the time in Joseph and Emma. And then in that mindset, we need to seek the Holy Spirit to guide, teach, and reveal to us. As I've tried to do this, I've understood so much more the story of the initial restoration. And this has helped me to also understood better my part as one member of the continuing restoration.
That last shot of the Kirtland temple with the words, "This historical home is opening to the public for tours." I see what you did there Church Newsroom... 😉👀👀
As-salamu alaykum, no matter the faith, tangible examples of its origin story help the believer to both see and feel what the early member would have. All over the globe the faithful of many religions travel to their Holy places that are unique and special to them. Kirtland is one of those places for the faithful and the interested nonbeliever alike. I thank The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for its dedication to preserving such important locations.
I suspect this is a lot nicer than it ever was when they lived there, especially with 2-4 little kids running around. Still, beautiful restoration! (No pun intended.) 😉
The hat by the table would have sat on its crown, not by its brim. Someone doesn't know hat etiquette of the time. And y restore, when they were there only a short time?

I will definitely be giving this restored house a visit the next time I'm in Kirtland!
It’s wonderful to take a look into the past. So much History ❤
I’m so grateful our church preserves the past! It’s such a faith building experience to know early Saints and their lives this way!
I imagine the spirit is very strong in their home
Amazing
I would love to see this historical home some day soon.
Beautiful. Praise be to God for raising up His prophet Joseph!
I have been there. It really takes you back in time

As someone who is aiming to become a historian of the church, this is really cool to see. I'd love to go there someday.

Is this in Kirtland, Ohio?
Thank you for your question. Yes, the home is located in Kirtland, Ohio, just a few steps from the historic Kirtland Temple.
Joseph Smith and Emma were two of the greatest people to ever live.
Is this Pennsylvania?
With the restoration of this home has the church acquired other sites in the vicinity?
Where is this home located?
