    This pairing won a Grammy for best country duo. It was Dolly’s first award for this song after 3 tries and it was also PTX third grammy

    Nah, guys. In the interview, Scott said PTX showed up with an arrangement with Dolly taking the entire lead and Dolly insisted that they take a verse.

    Avi is a classically trained Basso Profundo and has a totally different sound to Matt's lyric bass. You should check out Avi's solo music it it fantastic!!!!!

    The respect they showed to Dolly is a compliment to her and the personalities of Pentatonix. Greetings from South Africa

    The inspiration for Joleen was a bank teller that Dolly's husband kept talking about. Dolly was pretty sure that he just had a crush on the new lady at the bank, but she had to make sure. (Her instincts were correct.) The name came from a little girl with red hair who Dolly met while signing autographs, and Dolly thought she had the prettiest name.

    Omigosh, Butcher and the nose screw driver caused me to laugh out loud. Hilarious reaction and commentary yall, side note: if Jolene can take him away from his lady, he aint worth having.

    They loved Dolly so much. They had a 8 am call and Dolly arrived on time in full glam. She insisted they take a verse and was so fun.
    Scott said she was just a great as they thought she would be. She in return won a Grammy with them for this.

    Y'all should definitely check out their versions of Imagine, Mad World, and Radioactive (with Lyndsey Sterling), as well as their Daft Punk Medley and 90s Dance Medley. They really can take pretty much any song, from any genre, and make it their own.

      @@weaintraisedrightpodcast , Matt is not actually a bass...by vocal definitions. He's a Lyric Baritone. That simply means his vocal range is greater than a regular baritone. Scott should be classified as one too , but Scott's extended range is mostly in the higher notes, Matt tends towards the lower ( bass ) notes and his highs include a falsetto.

    Avi would often switch things up and just do things off the riff the others just had to ignore him and let him do his thing. In this PTX were going to just back Dolly up but she insisted they take a chorus.

    The Grammy they got for this is the only award Dolly ever got for this song. They only did 3 takes. The article I read about this Scott reached out to ask if she minded them covering the song, and she suggested collaborating. She insisted that PTX have a bit of a spotlight.

    I may love me some metal and grunge but I am a country girl at heart. I have said it before, I appreciate a lot of artists but I am not a fan because of talent alone, for that they need to be good people too. And Dolly is right up there at the top of the list. Thank you guys, this was lovely.

    Why is being a “stand up” bass seem to be a “bad” thing in your view.

    • @weaintraisedrightpodcast
      @weaintraisedrightpodcast  5 месяцев назад +1

      I'm not sure where you heard anyone saying that Avi sounding like a stand-up bass was a bad thing. If you hear anything remotely negative at that point it's because we couldn't remember Matt's name and we were irritated with ourselves. We even gush a little over Avi's bass within a couple minutes of the stand-up bass comment.

    4:20 this is due to ptxs new style of music. They use alot more altering to vocals now than they use to. There current form of music is mainstream a capella. Which is acapella with all the vocal altering stuff of modern music. The downside effect of this is Matt's bass gets reduced. Matt's bass could be swapped out for an ai/computer made bass line in many songs and no one would notice. And while I like there new stuff I don't like them as an acapella group anymore. The only time I feel matt gets to shine is when he's front and centre as the lead or when there live because it's MUCH harder to alter vocals live and so the baseline live sounds more human. A good example of this I think is the prayer. Matt's bass to me dosent sound like a singer or atleast you can clearly tell it's been altered. In the Avi days the most altering the bass ever really gets is a bass boost if they feel avis bass was too silent on a part or if everyone else are a bit too loud but the sound itself never really changed.

    Because Pentatonix is who they are, and Dolly is who she is, they expected her to take lead the whole song, and Dolly said "nope". Mitch is a TRUE counter-tenor with a 6+octave range. His voice is once in a generation. This collab won them all a Grammy, and it was Dolly's first Grammy for this song, despite how big it already was.

      Mitch is fantastical!!! You say once in a generation... Have you ever heard Dimash? His range actually EXCEEDS Mitch's range... BY FAR! Just crazy!!!!
