What I would actually do right away is put a crate (without the door on it) in with her with the setup you already have and make it super cozy so she likes going in and that way she’ll be used to the crate when you move her into your room later. Crate training is amazing for keeping puppies out of trouble and giving them a safe place to relax and sleep

Crate training is always a good idea, even when you don’t crate your dogs at home. It’s mainly beneficial when you have to take them to the vet, a groomer, etc. where they might end up in a cage for a period of time while waiting. Our big guy is not crate trained at all (got him at 3 and he is way too afraid of them) and we can’t leave him anywhere at all.

    • @fivemjs
      @fivemjs Год назад +6

We crate trained until the puppy was older and completely potty trained. Then she slept outside our daughters room. It was the craziest thing. She taught herself to be my daughter’s seizure dog and she would alert us when a seizure was about to happen or was happening. We had talked about sending her to get trained as a medical dog but then she went and taught herself. We definitely did not put her in the crate after that :-). I have no idea why I just told that story. Memory lane I suppose….

We crate trained our black lab puppy, which REALLY helped with potty training. He cried a couple times to go potty every night for a bit and we would bring him out, but he ended up being fully house trained at 3/4 months old and he’s now 8 months with no accidents. He also loves his crate because it’s his safe space. I know it’s hard in the beginning but once they get used to the crate a couple nights, they will only make noise if they need to potty. Crate training is 100% worth it especially with a golden. They will go in and out of major chewing phases where their entire goal in life is to chew up your house. The crate gives them a safe place to go when you can’t watch her. Also if you crate train her slowly and are patient (play the games, time limits when starting, snuggle puppy, etc) she will love it and go there optionally on her own over time.

Once my puppies were crate trained I kept the crate open and they could go in and out as they pleased. If they didn’t seem to go in it anymore, I would just pack it up and put it away. What I did with my dog when he was a puppy is I had a feeding schedule and water schedule. Whenever he would eat or drink I would let him outside to go potty and I would wait until he went potty then would go inside. This was very effective he doesn’t have any accidents and he lets me know when he has to go potty by either standing by door, getting my attention with a howl or bark. Also did crate training only at night time but I would let him go potty before I put him in crate then I would wake up early to take him out since he was a puppy.

For the crate training thing, I have a husky and my mom and I crate trained her. It was not fun whatsoever but within a few weeks she was a lot better. So I think crate training dogs is beneficial if you leave often. But if you don't put ur dogs in crates I don't think it would be a big deal if you didn't crate train her. I suggest you get her at least familiar with a crate because if you have someone watching her for you or you have to transport her. This is just my opinion from my experiences, I don't know a lot about dogs and I am not a professional WHATSOEVER.

You could create train her and have pee pads so she knows where to go and put the pads by the back door. Reward her every time she goes outside give her treats outside right after she goes and give her a treat when you go inside and tell here how good she is. With the creat if you creat train her it great for when you leave and it makes sure she doesn’t get into anything that could be harmful but you can eventually get rid of the creat with puppies everything is in stages. And this is what we did with our puppy who is a Labrador mix with a wiener dog. We got him at 7 months and we’ve had him for a year and he’s all potty trained and is in the process of get rid of the creat and being able to roam the house when we aren’t home.

Crate training can be really helpful, it's like a den for the dog to make them feel secure and safe. My general rule though is if they aren't comfortable in the crate then don't force it. One dog loves it and still sleeps there, the other whined and whined. It isn't necessary but can be helpful for when you leave the house or need some space.

I don't get why ppl are mean to you or Daniel. You are both so sweet! Love you both. Ignore immature and jealous ppl. Probably still in middle school. You boys are good ppl.

Unless she can jump out the play pen and chew things (when you leave her alone) then you probably don’t need to crate train. But she’ll be puppy-like and in to everything for quite a while and will be able to jump out at some point. You could see how she goes. Or think of a way to securely cover the play pen.

I am 100% for crate training. It gives them a safe space but also gives you a place to put them if needed to keep them out of trouble. My dog loves his crate. The older ones don't use a crate anymore but they all did the first couple of years.

Geez, what's wrong with having a Depop store? Trolls and bullies are just sad, lonely people who will find anything to pick apart in others...🙄 I love your Depop and Crystal Wolf stores, and it has made me very happy to buy multiple items from both!! 💜🤩 Good to see you having fun with your fam (and bantering with Daniel, lol). Can't believe how much your nephew has grown! All the dogs are so funny and cute, Moonie, Monty, Storm, the bebes. Monty better watch out for Sakura tho, I don't think that queen will put up with her food being pirated 🤣

Ive never crate trained. Potty pads is the way to go. I also have always let my pups sleep in bed with me but i am a light sleeper and wake up if i feel them moving around unsettled to take them outside or to their potty pad. Never had any piddle in the bed moments☺️. Any names yet? Star, Rain, Charm🤔

    Hi Joey! About crate training:
So for my dog, I crate trained her when she was young because it’s easier to train them then.
Now she hardly goes in it but just in case it’s always good for her to be able to be in it and not feel scared.
It is also a great potty training method and building up the amount of time they can hold in the need to go to the bathroom for drives and other things like that.

Joey, idk 🤷‍♂️ how you do it honestly but you always find a new way to entertain us with your RUclips videos and I’m here for it. I am subscribed to your channel and I like your video and left a comment so I did all the things. Your puppies are so cute “with Moony always teaching them a lesson. They love Moony.” Joey 2023 ❤️Lol 😂

I always recommend crate training. It can be a wonderful tool, especially if you plan on leaving her home while you go out for any extended period of time. She should learn to enjoy being in her crate. ❤️

We have a dog named Wolfgang who is part Husky, and part German shepherd. He LOVES his crate, and goes into it basically whenever he feels like it. He came from a bad home, though, so he may have used the crate to hide.
