I built a large makeup collection in the 8 months prior to covid when I just got into makeup. Lockdown slowed down my feverish collecting of a new hobbyist and gave me time to find out what I like and feel good in. I also had the time to see the similarity to what I already had in so many new releases and saw I was not missing out if I did not get everything out there. Now my collection is over five years old and things are starting to expire. I focus now on using and loving what I have, accepting my preferences and changing tastes, and spending some quality time with my favorite original purchases before I have to let them go. Now I add new things carefully and intentionally, and buy one or two colors of a lipstick range in a favorite brand instead of every color in every line at the drugstore or T J Maxx.
Thank you for commenting Helen! I also bought a lot of makeup in a short period of time when I first got into makeup. Back then I didn't really realize that the makeup will eventually expire. I'm glad to hear your collection helped you to find what you like! I hope you can still get good use out of the makeup before it goes off.
That's me! All over the place... I loved the capsule wardrobe video and have pared down my wardrobe. I just bought two new Anastacia palettes for my birthday that are very colorful, but I think I like a simpler, classic look.
I'm glad I'm not the only one lol! I totally want to have more that capsule collection mindset with makeup too. And same here, I like a simple classic eye look on myself. Thank you for your comment, Julia! 💖
I wish I had kept my makeup collections smaller , because it really does take so much mental space and real space.... I think about the amount of money and time I've spent on makeup in just a few years ... way to many eyeshadow palettes to actually use to finish , panning doesn't really help , just makes me feel even more guilt ... I'm just working on what I can and trying to not stress out about it... great video
I feel the same way! Thankfully my collection is more manageable now but I wouldn't have gotten there without any decluttering. Now I just need to be really mindful in future when purchasing products and cosnider if I'm actually able to enjoy and finish the product before it expires. And I agree with you on panning, it tends to cause me additional stress and pressure about progress. So the more panning I do the more makeup actually takes mental space. Thanks for your comment and I hope you can find a way to enjoy makeup stress and guilt free!
I don't have that much makeup but I also don't wear that much makeup. I sometimes make myself wear it because I know it's going to go bad and I feel guilty

I did the same thing when I first got in to makeup and didn't realize lipstick expired so soon

I also notice I wear way less makeup these days. In the past I totally forced myself to wear heavier looks even if I didn't like them.
great video and discussion
Thank you! 💖
